"description": "Snakes would be the best easter mascots and you know it. Rabbits don't even lay eggs.\r\n\r\nI drew this at work since holy shit, do you have any idea how slow it can be at a Starbucks on Easter? Especially in the bible belt. I wasted so much time there today and we didn't even get time and a half, what's up with that?! Anyway, this drawing was a bit of a hit in the store! People got a kick out of easter snake. At one point someone started showing it to customers and I was getting a bit anxious because of sudden art praise from strangers.\r\n\r\nOne woman, however, was far from impressed. She was in fact LIVID with me using a snake as a replacement for an easter icon. Why? Because EASTER IS CHRISTIAN AND SNAKES ARE EVIL CREATURES. THEY ARE FILTHY ANIMALS OF SATAN. Rather than seeing this as me putting some holiday elements on an animal I enjoy, she thought I was insulting Jesus. As such, she took the opportunity to screech at me for having a vile sense of humor.\r\n\r\nI calmly explained that I love reptiles and I keep several snakes, and that this was just a silly piece of art loosely based on an egg eating snake. Really he's taking elements from the commercial side of the holiday, not the religious one. This seemed to satiate her urge to crusade for Jesus at me, but it opened a fresh can of worms. HOW COULD YOU POSSIBLY LOVE SUCH AN UNATTRACTIVE, DIRTY, EVIL CREATURE. SERPENTS ARE A BLEMISH ON THIS PLANET AND THEY ARE LUCKY GOD ALLOWS THEM TO LIVE. IF I HAD MY WAY I WOULD KILL THEM ALL. YOU MUST BE SICK IN THE HEAD TO ENJOY THE COMPANY OF SUCH A HATEFUL CREATURE. Caps because yes, she was making a bit of a scene.\r\n\r\nIt is a part of my job to empathize with customers when they are upset, but I am pretty sure I did my job wrong. After standing stunned under such a bombardment on my person and the animals I hold most dear, I lost my temper. She seemed to get on a roll, and once she started in on me, she continued on to how I must also be a filthy person, a filthy person who loves the devil, a lonely woman who needs animals to feel good about herself, an idiot or a psychopath, both of which are unforgivable.\r\n\r\nI did start off explaining calmly, my voice trembling as I was clearly upset. Again and again I was spoken over. Should I try to cut the conversation off, she would dog after me with fresh insult. She wanted me to stand there until I realized what a terrible person I was for drawing a snake dressed as a bunny eating an easter egg. I hit a point where I was talking despite her interuptions, and gradually my volume rose until I was yelling as loud as she was, going from how I love my snakes, how uneducated someone would have to be to think such things of snakes and the people who adore them, and how I am a perfectly sane, fine person who just happens to have a passion for something outside of her favor, how uncalled for the entire situation was, and that some things are better left unsaid. To this she rolled her eyes many times, and combated me with \"no matter what you believe, I know you are going to hell, satan lover.\" I was very mad at this point, screeched out a ragged line about how being so bible obsessed that one can't forge their own view of the world and the things sharing it with her could hardly qualify her opinion as knowledge, and told her to get out.\r\n\r\nThis is what seemed to blow her away. Nothing seemed to stand out to her until I told her to leave. She stood there, staring wide eyed at me with her mocha in hand, shocked. \"What?\"\r\n\r\n\"GET OUT.\" She did. She hurried out like a frightened rabbit. When she was gone, I became aware of all the people who were staring, but they were clapping. I was terrified at that point, coming off the RAGE high with my opponent's absence. I was scared for my job. My co-workers called the manager and told her everything that happened and that I was justified, and several regulars who had been present insisted on taking the phone to back me up to. My manager just got off the phone with me to let me know things are ok. I mean obviously she's gonna have to go over a few things with me but I don't need to be worried and I'm not in major trouble. She is a very understanding boss. It seems I'm safe. It still rocks what little faith in humanity I have left to its core to be torn in to over someone seeing the little doodle you are seeing now, though.\r\n\r\nJust make an effort to have a better easter than me ok!\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t",
