I sighed nervously as I locked my door and walked to the Mayor's office. It was a Monday morning, and it was my first day as Isabelle's assistant. The Mayor's duties had been piling up on Isabelle's shoulders ever since he mysteriously disappeared 189 days ago. He vanished into thin air, and no one had heard from him ever since. Ms. Isabelle has been left to take charge and do all of his work, but even a worker bee like her couldn't do it all. It's amazing she kept it up for so long without asking anyone for help.\n\nI had arrived at the front door of the office and took a deep breath before knocking lightly and entering. I peeked inside and saw stacks of papers and files on Ms. Isabelle's desk, and a lot of paperwork that she had already finished on the Mayor's desk. She was quick to notice me as the door creaked lightly.\n\n\"Hmm? Good morning! You must be Percey, correct?\" She placed the stack of papers she was holding down on the desk and got up to properly greet me with a warm, welcoming smile. Even being buried under all of this work didn't dampen her spirits. She was always like this. It was something to behold.\n\n\"Y-yes that's me. Good morning, Ms. Isabelle. I'm here for the, uhm, for the assistant position?\" I replied nervously. She was so nice and happy that it kind of made me nervous and timid.\n\n\"Of course, right this way. Please don't let the papers intimidate you. It's your first day so I'll be gentle.\" She winked as she guided me to a smaller desk adjacent to hers, but facing the wall. She gestured for me to have a seat and so I sat down.\n\n\"You're familiar with 'A-19 Town Ordinance Forms'?\" She asked as she leaned over my shoulder.\n\n\"A-19 forms. Those would be the forms which I have to confirm the starting date and end date of past ordinances and average out the satisfaction level of a small focus group during the ordinance's duration...?\" My response came out as a question once more. I was very nervous in the presence of a veteran like Ms. Isabelle and it showed.\n\n\"That's correct!\" She patted me gently on the shoulders and stood upright before walking to her desk before continuing. \"The Mayor sure changed those a lot. Sometimes a few times weekly. He was very, uhm, eccentric! I will need to sign for those and stamp them, so please just bring them over once you've finished. Take all the time you need.\" \n\nMs. Isabelle sat down at her desk and started a pile of forms at least ten times the size of mine. And there were two piles of papers just as tall next to those. She wasn't kidding in the least when she said she was being gentle witj me, but I was happy to help in any way I could. I began to complete the A-19's carefully as to not make any mistakes. \n\nA little over an hour had passed and I had finished the last form. In that same amount of time, Ms. Isabelle had dug more than halfway into one of her giant stacks. I walked the forms over to her desk as she had demanded and peeked over he shoulder, watching in awe as she worked. Her hands moved so quickly, yet her penmanship remained so clean and professional.\n\n\"That's incredible.\" I remarked as she took notice of me and stopped filling a form. \"It's no wonder you get so much done so quickly, Ms. Isabelle.\" \n\nShe smiled and took the forms off of my hands, signing and stamping all of them in the blink of an eye before placing them on the Mayor's desk. It didn't take me very long to realize that the Mayor's vacant desk was the \"finished stuff\" desk.\n\n\"Thank you, Percey. You're doing a great job in assisting me yourself.\" She complimented me on completing my very easy task.\n\n\"I-I've only just got started.\" I smiled nervously, feeling she might be a little too generous to say such a thing after I've barely done anything. \"What should I do now?\"\n\nMs. Isabelle stood up from her desk and stretched. \"That was the last of the A-19's I had. This stack over here is A-33's, do you know how to do those?\" She placed one of her hands on a considerably bigger stack of papers. I nodded.\n\n\"I know how to fill most A forms. I might have a bit more trouble with B's and C's.\" I admitted as I picked up the stack and carried it over to my little desk. \n\n\"Please leave those to me. Once you finish filling those out, you can go home.\" She sat back down after a good stretch and resumed work.\n\n\"Go home? But there's still so much paperwork. I'm sure I can-\"\n\n\"All B's and C's.\" She sighed and smiled. \"But really, just having you knock out the A's is a huge help! I mean it! I'll teach you how to fill out B forms tomorrow, we'll take things one step at a time. These need to be done right, even if we have to take a little bit of extra time.\" \n\n\"I understand.\" I replied. She was as kind as she was professional. I've always somewhat admired Ms. Isabelle ever since I moved to town. The Mayor always struck me as lazy and inconsiderate. Instead of being a man for the people and running the town, he would spend entire days catching bugs or digging holes in the town. He was a very strange man. But Isabelle was different. She cared so much about the people's well-being and satisfaction. Always smiling and eager to help however she could. And seeing her work so hard up close has only made me admire her more.\n\nAfter roughly two hours of carefully filling out the forms, I handed them to Isabelle who nodded and thanked me for my hard work. I asked her once more if there was anything else I could do, but she insisted my day was done and told me to get some rest at home. I reluctantly left the office and made my way home. It's only been a couple of hours and I still had an entire day ahead of me. I decided to spend it lazing in bed, cuddled up to a pillow, completing my first day of being Ms. Isabelle's assistant. \n\nTo Be Continued","writing_bbcode_parsed":"<span style='word-wrap: break-word;'>Having just woken up, eating a light breakfast and brushing my teeth, I left my house just as the sun was peeking out from above the trees.
