"description": "Equines were no longer a popular companion to humanity once they discovered another domesticated, mountable species in the far corners of the world. The moment the first few were shipped across the seas, many kingdoms quickly realized that they were far more reliable than horses, especially when it came to combat. Their gait was steady yet their speed outpaced that of a horse by a mile. They were far more vicious, too, with their powerful bite being able to rip into armor with ease. Their claws were notched and heavy, and with a single swipe, they could rend through flesh like butter. Military forces took an immediate liking to the beasts, and as quickly as they arrived, they replaced horses within the cavalry.\n\nOver the decades, horses were relegated to the countryside as nothing more than vermin. Abandoned by humanity, feral horses roamed the hills and plains instead of living on farms and camps. And while many considered their presence to be inconsequential, others found them to be a nuisance, constantly trampling grazing grounds until nothing but patches of dirt remained. Bounties were placed for entire herds sometimes.\n\nIn a twist of irony, the beasts that replaced them became the most effective mount for horse-hunting bounty collectors. Their speed and size meant they could effortlessly pursue a horse with little fear of retaliation from the equine’s heavy hooves. And no matter how large and feisty their prey was, a single swipe of a claw or a firm bite was enough to send it tumbling to the ground. Once it was down, the beast could incapacitate its prey with little instruction from its rider. Most were trained to be aggressive towards large animals, after all, and they did exceed expectations. Using their massive paws and weight to stamp the beast of burden into submission, breaking its neck or legs, or sometimes goring it with its razor-sharp claws or teeth. After allowing their mount to feast on the brutalized horse, most bounty hunters left the corpse to rot in the field. They had an entire herd to track down and kill, and by the end of the day, they’ll be ready to collect their reward.\n",
