On the one hand they each introduced a new character including two of my favorites (Trixie and Lupe), but on the other hand this is what we did instead of expanding on the Nightside stories that made up Part 8... oh well, it worked out for the best because Trixie and her family wind up being the main focus of our next story arc. \n\nSo as for each part... \n\nOriginally this started with Arja and Simoni meeting Bethandi Shuda, the alien girl, but as I was writing the commentary I realized that this meant they didn't meet her until AFTER their return trip to the Nightside... where Simoni both saw Bethandi and had invited her to come, telling her what the Nightside was. Oops. So yeah, after noticing that I did a quick cut and paste and made that part into the side story 'Beam me up Bethandi', putting it between Part 7 and Part 8 in the story. Normally I don't do that, but I wanted to keep this going and I was trying to work out what we'd done that'd happened between the Nightside (which really got cut down) and the trip to Texas (currently ongoing) so yeah... I had to improvise and improvisation makes things sloppy. \n\nSadeh is a neat character, but I left out a lot of the stuff with her story because, well, a lot of it was very kink-focused and I don't like including that stuff because I find its only really fun while its happening. Afterwards its just kinda eh... like eating leftovers that have been sitting for a while. Sadeh is a neat character with a lot of potential for story, infact we had her come back for a bit a few days ago but the night we were doing it we both wound up exhausted and went to bed early. Still, keep an eye out for her again. \n\nThea is a neat idea, but we run into a major problem in that she's aquatic and the rest of the group... well... isn't. Underwater scenes are really hard to do because none of the team can even use their powers underwater (especially Arja and Simoni), so it really constrains what we can do for a story which is a real disappointment since I'd love to expand on Thea and the idea of an underwater society of merfolk. Ah well, maybe someday. \n\nStephen and Trixie are a fun concept of messing with gender roles, which I -really- enjoy doing with characters. Stephen is very shy, effeminate, and quiet while Trixie is loud, confident, and a total tomboy, a reversal of the usual male and female roles in most stories... it's also worth noting that normally I can't stand, well, 'redneck' type characters and Trixie is not only from Texas but also a self proclaimed 'cowgirl' and former kid's rodeo star so... yeah, she definitely fits that trope... but I find her a compelling character. Part of it is just that Arja's player is -really- good at this sort of thing, but I wonder if it's not also just the fact that she's also a character type I normally can't stand. Personally part of this comes from me growing up in rural Kentucky so... yeah... I've had more than a few -bad- encounters with 'redneck' types in the real world that have turned me off to that subgroup of humanity as a whole. I know it sounds horrible and prejudiced and, well, it is... but perhaps roleplaying with a character like Trixie will help me get past some of that. RP can be therapeutic sometimes after all. \n\nLastly, Lupe. At this time Arja had contributed a -ton- of characters to the storyline. Arja, Natasha, Drusilla, and Trixie had become main characters and she also came up with Sadeh, Bethandi, and Thea... whereas the only ones I'd added were Simoni, Nelen, Dawn, and Stephen and all the others were either one shot badguys (most of the Clan Fullmoon goons) or villains (Franklin, Paale, etc). I wanted to do a monster girl who'd be part of the main cast and the good guys, so I made up Lupe... and dammit I really like her. Lupe is a fun goofy character and great for the whole 'fish out of water' thing in that she's had even less contact with modern civilization than Natasha and Drusilla. She's practically an animal in some of her behavior, but is dependable, loyal, and a fierce fighter. I see a lot of potential with her. While the Templars were a force to be reckoned with there they were substantially less powerful outside of the country. \n\nSome time later the group traveled to the city of Cairo in Egypt on another diplomatic trip where Simoni encountered a woman known as Sadeh. \n\nAn ancient egyptian queen, the exact definition of what type of being she is could be debated. She says she's a goddess, one of the last ones to stay in the Egyptian mortal realm. However, she also shares traits with a type of undead unique to Egypt known as 'mummies'. \n\nSimoni was alone when she met her, tricked into following Sadeh into her pyramid alone (Sadeh believed she was 'trespassing'). At first she thought the Egyptian woman just wanted someone to talk to... until Simoni wound up bound by Sadeh's bandages and dragged off to her dungeon. \n\nAfter a few hours of torture involving a whip and a rather fiendish anal toy that Sadeh referred to as 'Bastet's Love' she was rescued by Arja and the others (though Natasha had stayed behind in India on this particular trip). Dawn distracted Sadeh using her Wonderland Eyes, making Sadeh believe that she was being confronted by Anubis, and that she had failed the test of Ma'at and was going to be fed to Ammit, the eater of souls while Nelen and Arja got Simoni away from her. \n\nAfter a brief argument between Sadeh and Nelen about whether or not Simoni was actually kidnapped or was tresspassing, Arja cut both of them off and told everyone but Simoni to clear out so she could have a discussion with Sadeh. Much to Simoni's surprise Arja actually did discuss (well, have a shouting match) with her rather than what she'd expected (i.e. fire monkey flaming fists of fury). They agreed in the end that Sadeh could play with Simoni with Arja's permission, but with some limits (no ass-destroying anal toys). \n\nSimoni did come back to visit a few times while the team was still in Cairo, Arja joining her at one point. She also got to experience a few more of Sadeh's abilities, including her power to manipulate water and use healing magic (which she did to help undo the damage her toy did to Simoni). \n\nUnlike Drusilla and Natasha, Sadeh does not wind up joining Arja's harem. She is considered royalty, and still worshipped by some of the locals, so she has no desire to leave Egypt. \n\n------------------------------------------------------------------\n\nWhile preparing to leave Cairo, Arja and company were ambushed by a gang of assassins sent by Clan Fullmoon. They fought bravely, but were greatly outnumbered by almost four to one. As they closed in Dawn attempted to teleport the group to safety, not noticing that Nelen had already pulled a magical tool out of his bag (a small golden sphere) and was doing something with it. The magicks clashed with each other and caused Arja and Simoni to be teleported miles away, appearing over a small island in the Pacific ocean. \n\nAfter a few days of being trapped on the island they were discovered by Thea, a merfolk woman, who offered them a place to stay in her home. With few options (their shelter was very crude and a monsoon was coming) the two were forced to accept her offer. They allowed her to cast her magic on them, giving the girls gills, and took them down to her home in a merfolk city at the bottom of the sea. \n\nThere the girls wound up paying for their room and board (as well as a few tuna that Simoni had 'poached' while they were trapped on the island. In her defense she had no idea that it was poaching) by basically being servants to Thea for their stay. \n\nAt the end Thea helped the girls get found by a fishing vessel, the crew of which, unfortunately, acted as sailors are wont to do when they find two young girls alone aboard their ship. Faced with imminent buggery Simoni activated an implant that was left behind her ear by the alien, Bethandi Shuda, and the girls were beamed aboard her spaceship, trading a week of being exhibits at an alien's zoo for being rescued from, as Simoni put it 'having a bunch of crusty seamen cover us in their semen'. \n\nLike Sadeh, Thea doesn't join Arja's harem. She has no knowledge of the surface world (she doesn't even know what India is) and, of course, she needs to stay around saltwater to stay alive. \n\nThe two girls spend a week aboard Bethandi's vessel, putting on shows for the aliens and finding that they were actually able to enjoy themselves there (especially after Arja took a few creative liberties with explaining ape-man and garuda culture to Bethandi while they set up her exhibit in the zoo). It was a place where Clan Fullmoon couldn't come after them after all, made awkward only by the audience (and even then, aliens. To them it was like watching a couple dogs go at it). \n\n---------------------------------------------------------------\n\nDuring a trip to America the group came across a new surprise. A girl named Trixie Smith who was dating a young transvestite boy who turned out to be none other than Stephen Fullmoon, cousin to both Nelen and Simoni. \n\nShe and Stephen stumbled upon Arja and her friends fighting off an assassination attempt from Clan Fullmoon one night and, after Nelen recognized his younger cousin (despite him being, as Nelen put it, dressed like one of the Dixie Chicks), they realized that Stephen's father, Robert Fullmoon, was one of the assassins and that he had been... well... torn limb from limb after he tried to attack Drusilla from behind. \n\nTrixie was worried at first, until Stephen hugged Drusilla and thanked her before doing cartwheels from joy. His father wasn't a very nice man y'see... However, after the initial 'I'm free!' dance he realized... His father was all over the park and his mother had died a few years back from pneumonia. So he had no place to live. Trixie suggested letting him move in with her, but Nelen pointed out that there'd be legal issues with that and, more to the point, that Clan Fullmoon would probably come back to find him if they found out he survived. Simoni suggested that Arja do what she did with her, i.e. 'kidnap' them. Arja shrugged, then told them that she'd go 'buy' Trixie from her mother, really just an excuse to get her out of town before the Clan came to check up on their contacts and a way to give her mother a means to get out of the area and back to Texas (Trixie wasn't living in Texas at the time). \n\nAfter spending some time on Bethandi's spaceship (in order to avoid risking them getting captured at the airport incase there were more Fullmoons in town), they settled in at Arja's house in India. \n\nOriginally a mundane, a non-magical human, Trixie discovered a book in Nelen's room about being a 'Huckster'. A book for learning a form of card and gambling based magic disguised as a how-to guide on Casinos and gambling. Despite Stephen's worrying she took the risk and using a deck of playing cards challenged a spirit to a game and won her own powers, becoming a magician. \n\n------------------------------------------------------------\n\nFinally, a return trip to Romania prompts Natasha to visit her old haunt, only to find it's been claimed by a stray werewolf. She mistakes her for a human at first, but when she pounces her the clouds above part and the full moon appears, causing her to suddenly kick Natasha off her and send the vampire flying. The 'girl' is a young lycantherope calling herself Lupe Bzou, a stray who's pack was wiped out by Clan Fullmoon shortly after Natasha had joined Arja's harem (see Part 4: The Stephen King Kids Club). \n\nLupe belonged to a pack of werewolves that lived in the forests near the small village. However, after Natasha left with Arja and her group Clan Fullmoon swept the area and, having stumbled upon Lupe's pack, took them apart. A werewolf is strong in a fight, but Clan Fullmoon came prepared with swords edged in silver and their own enhanced strength. Lupe was the only survivor, fleeing into the night while the rest of her pack fought and died against the Clan's weapons. \n\nShe wound up breaking into Natasha's old house, making it into her lair of sorts while the vampire was away... and then Arja's crew returned to Romania and Natasha discovered her, mistaking her for a human girl at first until Lupe transformed and attacked her. Natasha fought her at first, until she noticed that the werewolf was extremely skinny and found out that her pack had been killed off. Taking pity on her, she offered to show her where she kept some food stores for her mortal servants, which the werewolf quite literally tore into. \n\nNatasha felt bad for Lupe after the werewolf told her that the 'fire-hair warriors' had wiped out her pack, realizing that they had been looking for Arja and her friends, and offered to let Lupe come with them back to India. Lupe resisted at first, until Natasha wound up forcing Lupe to submit to her and see her as a new 'alpha' of sorts.
