As he stepped into the war room, he saluted the general, \"Sir!\"\n\n\"Ah, private, here for an update on Project Seth?\" The general was very eager, his people told him that the initial results from the biotech company they'd contracted pushed what people knew of science.\n\n\"S-several updates, sir. It's a bit of a mixed bag. I've got good news, great news, terrific news, bad news, worse news, and disastrous news.\" Lucas gulped.\n\n\"Don't play that game with me private, give me them in chronological order.\"\n\n\"Okay, so, the good news is that we finished and administered the formula, and it actually works better than we expected! All subjects experienced at least SOME increase in physical ability, and different subjects even grew at different rates.\"\n\n\"Ah! So lots of potential different uses in the future, love it, continue.\"\n\n\"The great news is that the first outing of the soldiers went better than we could possibly have imagined! Terrorist sabotage almost cut off a major canal trade route, and not only did our improved unit manage to catch them, the improvements were significant enough to avoid the local ships blocking anything.\"\n\n\"Oh thank God, the economy really can't take anymore sun, god bless those brave sacrifices, I can't imagine how hard it must have been to change the course of an out of control tanker...\"\n\nLucas coughed, getting more alarmed, but continuing. \"Y-yeah, insanely difficult. Lots of sacrifices. The bad news is that the head scientist got terrified during the outing, something about 'impossibly high' performance numbers and 'stopping it before it's too late'... and he detonated the failsafe.\"\n\n\"OF COURSE HE BLOODY DID! Why does the military in movies never have an off switch for the monsters they make? Because apparently the 'geniuses' who think they know better have to bloody activate them! Ugh. So the worse news is us getting audited? Or just the fallout from angry families.\"\n\nLucas took a deep breath, moment of truth. \"No sir, the worse news is that the failsafe didn't work on all of them. There was one survivor. And he is PISSED.\"\n\n\"That sounds like good news to me, private. I mean it's CONCERNING that the bomb didn't go off, but all the subjects were good, loyal men.\"\n\n\"The bomb did go off sir.\"\n\n\"...Did they embezzle the budget and use much, much cheaper bombs than we allocated for?\"\n\n\"No, sir.\"\n\n\"...\n...\nSo what you are telling me, private, is that one of our soldiers SOMEHOW survived a nuclear warhead detonated INSIDE his body, and is now mad at us.\"\n\n\"Yes, sir.\"\n\n\"WHAT'S THE AWFUL NEWS?!? DID JESUS COME BACK AND TELL US WE GOT IT ALL WRONG?!\"\n\n\"No, sir, the awful news is that all the notes and made up formula for project Seth have gone missing. Well, not exactly missing, the surviving soldier signed for it with the requisitions officer, but he definitely took it all.\"\n\nGeneral Grant took several deep breaths. They WERE all good, loyal men, if one of his sergeants had become a god and decided that the people who reflexively tried to murder him didn't get to keep their ability to make more like him, that was almost fair.
