Summoner’s Rift: an ingrown jungle settled on a mountaintop full of ruins, caves, and pits, with a mighty river flowing through it. It is the main Field of Justice for the League of Legends, an organization on the world of Runeterra. The League makes it its job to prevent any conflicts from developing into full-scale wars by having parties settle their disputes in battle. The Summoners of the League choose champions –volunteers or otherwise- onto teams and have them set out to destroy the enemy team’s structures. The first team to reach and destroy the opposing team’s nexus, the structure that binds Summoners to the Fields of Justice, is the victors. It is during one such game that two persons realize their feelings for each other…
A spectral owl flew over the Rift, illuminating all the area that was under its path. After reaching a certain point, it exploded into tiny shards of ice and snow, with rained down on a circular area of land, itself becoming illuminated, before the light it left vanished.
“Is there anyone approaching, Ashe?” Asked a woman with bright, cinnabar hair, clad in bright golden armor asked her companion.
The silver haired, black cloth-clad woman pulled her hood back over her head and turned away from where the owl she sent out had previously flown. The woman, Ashe, shook her head and fired a volley of arrows into the approaching miniscule creatures known as minions.
“Nothing from that direction, Leona.” Ashe told the other woman, as he continued to slaughter the minions. Their goal was the blue-hued turret in front of them, chunks of it having fallen off its frame, but still functioning. The women pressed their advance, minions of their own following behind them.
“You focus on the turret, I’ll keep our visibility up… I don’t like that we haven’t seen Ezreal and Taric” Leona said, stepping away from Ashe, a small yellow object with a green gem topping appearing in her hand. Ashe nodded and aimed her bow at the turret, launching an arrow at it. She was preparing another, when a voice spoke to her mentally.
“Hey, Arrow Lady! Sun Knight!”
The Frost Archer kept shooting at the turret, her eyes narrowing when the voice spoke in her mind. She thought herself safe for now, as plenty purple minions were around her for the turret to attack instead of her, but she still felt pressed to reply to the voice.
“What’s going on, Ziggs?” Ashe replied to the voice, using the same mental link her entire team shared.
“Crazy moon lady left my lane! Her trajectory was for you and the Sun Knight!” The armored, goggle wearing, furry midget in the battlefield’s middle tower lane told her.
“If she is coming,” Leona stated, “Then we shall know the instant she arrives, thanks to this sight ward.”
“She might already be there!” Ziggs called out, slight urgency on his voice.
Ashe’s yes shot open and she quickly turned around, fear in her voice as she tried to get the attention of her teammate.
“Leona, move!” The silver-haired archer yelled.
What happened next was like lightning. Leona was about to place one of the objects in the bush that occupied the edge of the river, but before she could, an arc of bright white light shot out of it and connected with her, bathing her in the white radiance. Leona’s eyes shot wide, but before she could react, a jet of the same light dashed at her, hitting the golden-armed woman square in the abdomen, making her drop her ornate golden shield and sword, and dissolve into rays of sunlight. Ashe stood in horror as the white light vanished, leaving another woman standing in this place. This woman’s hair was as white as the moon itself, and she wore dark gray armor over her pale purple skin, and wielded a hooked sword, which looked as if made from a crescent moon itself.
“What a foolish witch… symbol of the Solari…” The woman began, “Now that I have slain her… you have no protection, Frost Archer!” she bellowed.
Almost immediately, Ashe fired a volley of arrows at the woman. The woman, Diana, Scorn of the Moon, gave a small, but malicious smirk as an orb of white light appeared around her, with three smaller orbs orbiting around it. The spell absorbed Ashe’s arrows as Diana advanced.
“You need to learn your place. You, who would choose to ally with the power of the sun, need to suffer the torment of the moon!” Diana said as she swung her blade, sending another arc of light towards Ashe.
With a flash of golden light, Ashe managed to avoid the attack, and loaded into an arrow into her bow. After quickly squeezing it, causing it to frost over, she fired, the arrow lodging itself into the moon warrior’s calf. With a grunt, Diana broke the arrow and scowled.
“It’ll take more than that to stop me.” Diana said, eyes locked on Ashe, “Although, know that the moon is not the only light of the night.”
Right as she said that, a huge sweep of yellow particles in the form of a wave of energy came barreling down through the lane. Ashe didn’t even have time to react for it, and it cut right through her waist. Although it left no physical wounds, it still hurt like hell, causing her to collapse onto her knees. She turned and looked, seeing a blond haired, blue-and-leather clad teenager appear in a blast of the same particles, followed by a knight who’s blue armor, shield, and his hammer were adorned with gems.
“This is hardly fair…” Ashe said weakly.
“Fair? Fair?! Were the Solari fair when they cast me out for finding the ruined temple of the moon!? When they tried to have me killed for demonstrating its power?! I know nothing of fairness!” Diana bellowed as she launched another arc of light towards the archer while her back was turned.
Ashe glared and prepared for the worst, as Diana dashed forward… the blond haired boy pointed his gauntlet at the archer and fired a stream of sparks… the gem-covered knight smashed his hammer down on the ground, causing the shield of crystals that was around him to shatter, a light glow then radiating out from him…
“I’LL BRING THE BIG ONE!!”
Ashe opened her eyes and watched as a giant red ball with a white skull painted on it came crashing down onto the area. The blonde boy jumped back in a flash of particles, but Diana’s eyes widened in horror… and then the bomb exploded when it hit the ground. Due to the magic of the field, Ashe was unaffected, but Diana was right in the blast radius. Her body collapsed and faded into rays of moonlight, and vanishing. The Frost Archer turned and looked down, the maniacal grin of the crazed Yordle, a small race of humanoid, mostly furry creatures, greeting her.
“Thank you, Ziggs.” She said.
The little cat-esque creature waved a hand and pulled a bomb off his back, his mouth perpetually cracked open like a madman.
“Don’t worry about it, let’s just dust these guys!” Ziggs replied, before chucking a bomb towards the boy and the knight, who couldn’t avoid it in time. Ashe readied her bow and smirked slightly.
“Ezreal, Taric, sorry, but you’re gonna lose this tower now.”
The blond, Ezreal, laughed and shook his head, firing a small blast of golden sparks at Ashe. “Over my dead body, Ashe!” he bellowed as he fired. “Your health is too low, and Ziggs’ summoner didn’t use the Heal spell this time! You’d need a miracle to beat us!”
“That can be arranged.”
Ezreal and Taric quickly turned to the bush by their tower, and suddenly a orb of electrical power erupted towards it, careening towards them. The tower came to life and started to attack the ball. Ezreal flashed away from the ball, and it stopped moving, revealing a purple-clad, small, furry ninja. Taric got confident and held his shield up, a light emanating from it, and locking the ninja in place.
“You would mock the power the gems of this very planet can give? You shall meet your end here. May you be humbled.” The Gem Knight lectured the ninja. Kennen merely grinned and held his shuriken up in defiance, causing Taric to cock a brow up.
“The turret’s gonna kill him and he’s still cocky!” Ezreal said, with a small laugh, “This is gonna be-“
And then the turret came crashing down behind the ninja, causing Ezreal to suddenly become panicked.
“…Oh.”
Ashe smirked and readied her bow. “I’ll only need one shot.”
Almost immediately, a giant arrow of ice came soaring towards Ezreal, crashing into him with full force. The boy reeled back in shock, although he was unable to move - the arrow had rendered him stunned! This caused the Ninja to grin and pull out two shuriken.
“You lose.” Was all he said, in a blunt, matter-of-fact voice, before he spread his legs and thrust his arms out, rings of electrical current emanating from him, blasting Taric and Ezreal before they could even react.
They tried to escape, but while Kennen’s spell was going, one orb of lightning appeared around them… then two… and then three, which finally locked them in place and forced them to take the brunt of the full attack, which wound up doing both of them in. They disappeared in a flash of white light, a triumphant look on the ninja’s face apparent under his mask.
“Come on, let’s finish this!” Kennen called out, canting his head behind him. Ashe and Ziggs nodded, quickly following behind him.
The rest of the match went rather well for their team. Tryndamere, The Barbarian King in the top lane didn’t fare well against Aatrox, The Darkin Blade, but Ashe and Leona’s success down in the bot lane wound up turning the tide. At the final fight at the purple nexus, the other team was defiant. Diana went in first, managing to pick off Ashe with ease, but she fell to Kennen’s ultimate ability, which fell the mighty behemoth Nautilus with ease as well after Leona lifted her sword, calling down a blast of sunlight down on the middle of their team. Tryndamere managed to pick off Ezreal and Taric, but he fell to Aatrox, who swooped in and extended his sword, slashing right through the barbarian. That left Aatrox to face off against Kennen and Ziggs, both of whom where huffing and panting, while Aatrox was still in prime form.
“You Yorldes have fought well… but now it is time… you give your lives so that my force can win this paltry battle.”
Kennen supercharged a shrunken and threw it at the demon. “Not on your life!”
Ziggs in turn laughed maniacally and threw down a device that created ten miniature mines under the feet of the demon. “Eat mines, wingy!”
The attacks would have hit Aatrox normally, but he quickly jumped into the air, a slight smile forming on his face as the aura around his sword changed from red, to purple.
“You have courage, small ones… I shall rip that courage from you.”
Aatrox then swooped down, aiming straight for the two Yordles. Kennen immediately turned into a ball of electricity and circled around the landing spot, while Ziggs put down a remote bomb and activated it, blasting him safely away, and knocking Aatrox back. The combined assault caused Aatrox to collapse into a ball, his body pulsing before springing back up, triumphant laugher becoming apparent.
“You fools, I still live! You were unable to finish me… you’re too weak to fight, so surrender, and I shall go easy on you.”
And then it happened. Kennen and Ziggs smirked wide and pointed behind the demon. Aatrox quickly turned around and became filled with disappointment as the mob of super minions behind him destroyed the nexus, causing the statues to collapse and the crystals to shatter, causing a massive explosion. As soon as that happened, all of the champions vanished in a white light, gone from the Field of Justice.
----------------------------------INSTITUTE OF WAR--------------------------------------
Ashe, Tryndamere, Leona, Kennen, and Ziggs reappeared in a darkly lit room, with white pillars lining the cylindrical walls. Also lining each wall was a portal, each containing scenery of a different location. After exchanging farewells, Ashe and Tryndamere went through the portal that showed frozen tundra, and Leona went through one showing a mountain village. That just left Kennen and Ziggs. Ziggs grinned and patted Kennen’s shoulder, nodding eagerly.
“Nice work, Kennen!” Ziggs commended the ninja. Kennen blushed a little and nodded.
“Y-yeah.” Kennen said, looking away.
That response caused Ziggs to raise an eyebrow and laugh. “Hey, what’s up with you? You’ve been acting weird for a while, every time you’re around me.”
The gerbilesque Yordle shook his head and looked up, still blushing. “It’s nothing!”
Ziggs laughed and turned away, heading to the portal of a futuristic, golden metropolis. Kennen bit the bottom of his lip and looked between that, and the portal that would lead to an oriental looking enclave…

Ziggs sighed and looked around as he arrived back in Piltover. He had been returned to his office in the Yordle University: the walls were lined with the usual university office trappings: bookcases, a fireplace, and a desk. But mounted on the walls of Ziggs’ office were various different kinds of explosive devices, all labeled with their appropriate name. Ziggs rolled his shoulders and walked towards the door, and opened it, intending to leave. However, he was stopped when a green furred, mouse-esque Yordle wearing a light blue jumpsuit greeted him.
“Oh, Profossor Ziggs! I’m glad you’re done with your League match… I wanted to see you about the paper you assigned… on the properties of metal mass and how it compares to the trajectory of bomb shrapnel-”
Ziggs laughed and patted the Yordle’s head, that maniacal grin returning to his face. “Oh Mavel, you’re one of my brightest little demolitionists, I woulda thought this a sinch for ya!”
Mavel nodded and smiled at Ziggs’ compliment before addressing his professor further. “Oh it is, professor! I just wanted to ask if I could get an extension… I won’t be able to attend class on the due date. I have to go to the Doctor’s…”
“Don’t sweat it!” The feline-esque Yordle told his student, “Just bring it in next week! Oh, and any book you have about Ionia’s Kinkou ninjas, I’m planning a little trip to Ionia. Deal?”
Mavel nodded eagerly and gave Ziggs a thumb up. “Thank you, Professor Ziggs! I promise you’ll love my presentation!” He said as he ran down the hallway.
Ziggs laughed to himself as he went to head out and leave the building, stopping by Mavel’s dorm before he left to get the book. Ziggs then headed down the street some way, and entered a parking garage, inside of which were various vehicles of several different kinds of technology. Ziggs approached what looked like a mountable rocket and grinned wide…
----------------------------------IONIA: TWO HOURS LATER--------------------------------------
Kennen was sitting with his legs crossed, hands clasped together, and eyes closed, locked in meditation. Watching him from the balcony of an oriental-looking building were two other ninjas: a female wearing green garb and a faceplate, her brown hair tied into a ponytail, and a male with dark skin, wearing a navy blue garb that looked more traditional, with all but his eyes concealed behind a mask.
“He’s been meditating ever since he got back… at least two hours now.” The female spoke, turning towards her companion. “What could be on his mind, Shen?”
Shen shook his head, his eyes focused on the Yordle down below. “You can’t tell, Akali? He’s suffering from matters of the heart… young Kennen’s been smitten.”
Akali turned to Shen and gave a small shrug. “Well, he needs to get off it, then. He knows the rules.”
Shen crossed his arms and narrowed his glowing yellow eyes. “If only it were such a simple thing to do.” The dark ninja explained, “His feelings are deeply ingrained… he’s meditating not to absolve those feelings, but to clear his mind, so that he can be enlightened to what is the right thing to do about them.”
Akali turned her gaze back to Kennen and leaned against one of the supporting pillars. “You plan on letting him act on them, if he feels that he has to?”
Shen made a slight smile that was just barely visible under his mask. “If it comes to that, then perhaps.”
Akali shrugged and closed her eyes, before opening them sharply and pulling out her dual kama and dashing forward, pointing them at a figure in the shadows… giving Ziggs a massive look of fear as he froze in place. Akali narrowed her eyes and tightened her grip.
“You have five seconds to explain how you found us and got through our protections, Hexplosives Expert.”
Ziggs stammered and held up a sigil in his hand. It was an emerald design, with a swirling dragon, its wings spread. Akali glared at it before sheathing her kama and turning to Shen.
“Shen, Karma let the Yordle known as Ziggs into our enclave.” She said. This caused Shen to walk up and cross his arms, as he looked Ziggs over.
“Normally, you would be trespassing, and dealt with. But you bear Karma’s sigil, so she must have a reason for allowing you to see us. Speak quickly.”
Ziggs nodded slowly and cleared his throat. “I’m here for Kennen. To… borrow him.”
“Borrow?! He is not one an object, Yordle!” Akali blurted out. She looked ready to draw her weapons again, but Shen held an arm in front of her to get her to stop.
“Borrow him… for what?” Shen questioned the feline-esque Yordle. Ziggs’ maniacal smile quickly returned as he started to explain himself.
“Sparky’s been very dodgy and nervous around me lately whenever we’re together. I think something’s up with him, and wanna see for myself!”
Akali turned to Shen, who seemed to be putting the pieces together in his head. The dark-clad ninja closed his eyes and smiled… maybe. Never can tell what expression his mouth bares under that mask.
“Yes, of course.” He said, as he went back outside. “Kennen is in the garden, meditating. Wait here, and I’ll fetch him for you.”
Ziggs nodded as Shen left and vanished from view, leaving Ziggs alone with Akali, the green-clad female ninja barely acknowledged him though. The awkward tension was cut when Shen finally returned, Kennen trailing behind him. The instant he saw Ziggs, Kennen ducked behind Shen, but the taller ninja pulled the Yordle out from behind him.
“Kennen, Ziggs has come all the way from Piltover to see you,” Shen explained, “At the very least, you must greet him.”
“Ziggs… hello.” Kennen said, nodding slowly. Ziggs smirked and gave the other Yordle a small wave.
“Hiya, Sparky! I got permission to whisk ya away to Piltover for a while! You don’t mind, do you?” Ziggs asked energetically.
Kennen gulped and nodded quickly, trying to compose himself. “Sure, yeah! We can leave now… please.”
And like that, the Hexplosives Expert was dragging Kennen out of the building, leaving Shen and Akali to stare at the proceedings.
“…I’m gonna hurt him if he does something to Kennen.” Akali said. Shen just shook his head and walked away.
“He’s going to do something to him, regardless, Akali. You can go and watch if you wish, but I doubt harm will come to The Heart of the Tempest.” Shen told her, before vanishing out of sight.
--------------------------------PILTOVER: TWO HOURS LATER-----------------------------------
Ziggs landed the Rocket back in front of the Yordle University, Kennen sitting behind him, and holding onto his waist. The two Yordles dismounted and brought the rocket into the parking garage. After that, they went into the University, Ziggs smirking as he opened the main doors.
“Welcome to the Yordle University, Sparky!”
Kennen stared in amazement at the university’s interior. It was made with wood panelings and huge, sprawling bricks, emanating the architecture of the Yordle home state, Bandle City. However, being Piltover, the technological mecca of the world, it had some of the city’s technological advances spaced throughout it.
“This place is amazing… I almost forgot what it was like with other Yordles…”
Ziggs smirked and lightly grabbed onto Kennen’s arm, whisking him up several flights of stairs, until they found themselves in a bedroom. This room was clearly belonging to Ziggs, as it had pictures of him on it, and the wallpaper was patterned with explosions.
“You like the room?” Ziggs asked. Kennen nodded wordlessly and plopped onto the bed, laying eagle spread on it.
“This is really comfortable.” The ninja said. “Better than the futons we sleep on in the enclave…”
Ziggs sat down on the edge of the bed and looked at Kennen, that nearly permanent, insane grin again on his face. “So,” Ziggs began saying, “You finally gonna spill on why you’re so dodgy around me lately?”
Kennen sighed and rolled, turning away from Ziggs. “No. It’s… complicated.”
Ziggs grinned and laughed. “Complicated? I love complicated things!” The bomber said. This only caused Kennen to turn and scowl at him.
“I’m being serious! I can’t tell you!” Kennen said.
Ziggs sighed. “Fine. I’m going to get you an extra bed then. Was gonna share, but you’re being like this, so…”
Ziggs got up and started to head for the door. The gerbilesque ninja shook his head and huffed, a deep blush on his face as he pulled on the leaving bomb expert’s arm.
“You really can’t tell that I’m jealous of you?!” Kennen blurted out.
Ziggs stopped and turned around, that ever present maniacal smirk widening as focused on the ninja.
“You? Jealous? Of me?” He asked coyly.
Kennen nodded slowly and looked down. “The Kinkou… they don’t allow their members to experience romance, and desire… anything that would hinder their focus on their missions... only the Order Master can sire heirs…” Kennen would shake his head and clench his fists. “It’s maddening sometimes! Shen and Akali can manage restraint in that kind of stuff… but I… I can’t! I try, but I just can’t! That’s why I’m jealous of you! You don’t have anything to worry about! You’re so… reckless, carefree, ready to do anything you want!”
Ziggs listened to Kennen’s entire spiel and then shook his head, sighing a bit. “If you don’t like it, why stay?”
Kennen actually was taken aback for a slight moment and looked up at the Hexplosives Expert, his head shaking quickly and his face taking on a defiant look. “I want to stay!” Kennan said, “They need my power, and I need to learn the control, it’s just…” Kennan quickly became quiet and looked down again. Ziggs grinned and lightly bopped the ninja’s nose.
“Then how about this, sparky?” The cat-esque Yordle said. “Let’s go right now, so that nobody can see us… We can take care of your little… ‘problem’.”
The gerbilesque ninja shot up and looked at Ziggs with an expression of surprise. “You mean it?!”
The bomber laughed and nodded, pulling the purple-clad ninja close to him. “Sure I do!” the cat replied.
Before Kennen could say anything else, Ziggs had pulled Kennen’s mask down and pressed his muzzle to the ninja, kissing him deeply right on the lips. This caught the little Yordle off guard and caused him to stumble a bit, but he didn’t fight it. In fact, he quickly leaned into it, closing his eyes and wrapping his arms around the bomber-gear clad body of the other male.

Meanwhile, Zigg’s expert hands had pulled the sash off of Kennen, everything falling apart after that: the ninja’s pants sagged, and the top started to slump. The bomber grinned and undid the rope ties keeping the gloves and sleeves tied together, same with the boots and pants.
