"description": "Here is Shippy. Those of you who do not know me yet, this is the character I use to identify myself. How did she come to be? Well, its a bit of a long story, but let me see if I can make it brief. \n\nWhen I first started out as a young artist, I decided to make a deviantart page. I thought a lot about what I wanted to be called, but everything I wanted was taken. At the time, I had this pirate character named Ship-Wreck whom I named my page after (and have done so ever since, unfortunately). She was a wolf human hybrid that didn't resemble me at all, but I used her as my stand in in all of my art. I felt such a disconnect with her. She was strong, and beautiful, fit, adventurous, cunning...all the things I was not. As time went on the drawings I had made for myself that included her did not feel special to me. They were trying to express something I felt or thought, without outwardly resembling me as well, and it felt...wrong. \n\nYears went by and this wrongness built up with each image I drew of myself, that wasnt anything like myself. Over those years though, people, on their own, began referring to me as \"shipy\" on there, and all the other sites. Shipy. Hm. Maybe Shippy since in sounds like Hippie.\n\nIn college, a friend of mine told me about this place where people can draw animal/human typed things and show them off and you can make a lot of friends doing it. Whaaaaat. So I joined Furaffinity. Still under that same username though. Because, what else did I have? \n\nPeople started asking me, \"what is your fursona?\" Fursona. Ship-wreck came to mind again. It was my user name after all. So I posted a picture of her. I was talking to people about their own fursonas, and they told me such wonderful stories on how they decided on their own. A Dire wolf, because he was strong, and wanted to be strong for his pack - the people he loved. A cat, because she was usually independent but sometimes she just needed a bit of affection. Or stories about how the colors they had chosen represented the most important feelings they had. Wow. I have nothing like these people. I dont match. I dont speak with such conviction. This character...is not me. \n\nSo I tried to find something that would match me better. I cant see well. Maybe a bat? I love dachshunds, they are my favorite animal? Nothing felt right though. One day I had this mental flashback though. Of a moment in highschool where I walked into my classroom, and was mooed at as I walked by by a group of mean boys. I was called a fat cow several times. I got \"cow tipped\" more than once too. I got used to being known as a cow. \n\nYup, I began drawing. A fat purple cow. Why purple? It was my favorite color my whole life up until highschool. It is what colored my everything. When it was done, I sat and looked at it and I just wept. This was me. I finally drew a me that I felt was not wrong. This is who I was to the world.\n\nWhen I was finished, I posted it. For the most part though, I got positive feedback. This was new. I had never had someone look at my roundness and say \"cute\" or \"sexy\" or anything of the sort. But here it was. A few people saying those things about not just my art, but my body type. I felt...a huge weight lift off my shoulders, and the shame of what I look like fade, even if it was a very small amount. I began to draw her more and kept getting mostly positive feedback. I began to want to draw the type of lovely these people were talking about. Plushness. Softness. Roundness. I wanted, and still want, to make these look beautiful to others. I want to make all genders, and all body types, look beautiful and sexy. I want to express those important feelings that link humans to animals. I want to draw it all. \n\nShippy has opened all kinds of doors for me. It is no stretch to say that without her, I would not be who I am. We are linked. And Damn, how lucky I am to feel this kind of connection with a character.",
