After a quick healing of Shinxy's pokemon, they exited the building. To their surprise, Shinxy's friend, Joey, and a mystery woman were outside waiting for them. Shinxy: Joey, hey! It's good to see you here! Who's that beside you? Cynthia: My name is Cynthia. I'm the Pokemon League champion of the Sinnoh region. Crystal: Wow, what an honor it is to meet you! Altan: I take it that means Joey didn't beat you then. Joey: No... I beat two of the elite four, but was defeated by Flint. Volkner: Heheh, I've battled alongside Flint back in the day. His pokemon are nothing to sneeze at, that's for sure. Shinxy: Volkner! What brings you out here? Volkner: It's a special moment to watch a trainer leave for the Battle Frontier. I don't get to watch it often, so I wanted to see you off. And it looks like they do too. He pointed over to the pier. As Shinxy turned and looked, Dreike, Terra, Adam and Felix were standing by Tom, eagerly waiting for Shinxy to set sail. Crystal: Wow... that's so nice of you all! Cynthia: Before you leave though, I'd like to apologize for not being here to help stop that wicked man. I was briefed on the situation after Joey here lost to Flint. Joey: I'm sorry too. After I left, I found that I had a missed call from Shinxy. I guess he wanted me to help fight against that guy. Altan: It's okay, we were able to clean everything up and Lugia is safe and sound. Shinxy: Yeah, Lugia can talk telepathically, and it gave me permission to catch it! Joey: Wha- No way!! Shinxy: Yes way! Check it out! Shinxy rushed to the shoreline and tossed out Lugia's pokeball, releasing the giant legendary pokemon into the water. It's appearance made quite the splash and rocked Tom's boat. Tom: Hey, take it easy! ...Oh, sweet mother of pearl... Joey was awestruck by Lugia's appearance, completely speechless as Lugia looked down on the gang. Lugia: ...Ah, Shinxy. Bringing me out to show off to your friend? Shinxy: That's right! Heheh, pretty cool, isn't it? ...Actually what gender are you, Lugia? I personally don't like calling pokemon by "it", you know? Lugia: I do not possess any gender, as is the case with most legendary pokemon. But you may address me as a male, since that is the nature of my telepathic voice. Shinxy: Alright, thanks! Joey could hardly believe he was witnessing his childhood friend talk so casually with a legendary pokemon like Lugia. Joey: Wow... I'm actually pretty jealous. I don't have any Legendary pokemon... Cynthia: Be happy with the pokemon you have. They brought you to the Pokemon League thanks to the love and care from their trainer. Joey: Yeah... Umm, anyways! Now that you have all the badges, Shinxy, I'd like to battle you. Let's see who's pokemon are stronger! ...I mean, not against Lugia, or that Mewtwo, but your normal team. Shinxy: No can do. I'm not letting anything else stop me from seeing my mom at the Battle Frontier. Cynthia: Your mother is at the Battle Frontier? She wouldn't happen to be Shanon the Suicune trainer, is she? Shinxy: That's her! Cynthia: Hmhmhm, you do kind of look like her. Her pokemon are strong, about as strong as mine, if not stronger. She happens to be a friend of mine, too. Shinxy: Really? Cynthia: Yes. I bet she'll be happy to see you. It was nice meeting you, but I don't want to delay your reunion with Shanon. Joey: I'll go too! I have eight badges too, so I can enter the Battle Frontier as well. Shinxy, we can battle after you see your mom, deal? Shinxy: Sounds good to me! Cynthia: The Battle Frontier will make an excellent setting for a battle among two strong trainers like yourselves. Now, go and fulfill your dreams. Shinxy: Okay! Shinxy, Altan, Crystal, Joey and Mewtwo boarded Tom's boat. Tom boarded his boat as well, went to the captain's quarters to retract the ramp and turn the boat toward the Battle Frontier. As the boat began to sail away, Volkner, Cynthia, Felix, Adam, Dreike, and Terra all waved as Shinxy and his friends sailed away from Sunnyshore City. Shinxy, Altan, Crystal, Joey, and even Mewtwo waved farewell in return. Lugia gently swam alongside the boat. Lugia: It was quite a joy seeing all of you interact with each other. Shinxy: It's not something you've seen often, is it? Lugia: Not at all. I hope to see more friendly exchanges and spend some more time on land with you and your friends. Shinxy: That sounds like fun! Hmmmm... I just got another fun idea! Lugia, could you stay steady for a moment? Lugia: Of course, but what are you planning? Shinxy put a foot on the boat's railing, then jumped across and landed on Lugia's back. Altan: Hey, careful! Crystal: Is Tom okay with you doing that? Tom: I don't mind. It doesn't look like you're in any danger, and you all already paid for your tickets. Just don't let that giant bird tip over my boat! Shinxy slowly crawled forward, then took a seat on the back of Lugia's neck. Shinxy: Haha, this is so much fun! Lugia: Hmhmhm, I'm glad you didn't slip off when you landed. Mewtwo I would've caught him if that had happened. No need to worry. Crystal: Heheheh, you're gonna shock a lot of people when you arrive at the Battle Frontier riding on Lugia's back. Shinxy: That's fine with me! If anything, it'll make my mom notice me coming! Altan: This makes me think, if you had lost to Volkner, would you just hop on Lugia's back with us and Crystal and ride to the Battle Frontier anyways? Shinxy: No way! As much as I want to see my mom, I won't get there by cutting corners! I don't want to have any regrets! Crystal: That's a good answer! After a few hours, the sun began to set and Shinxy and company finally made to the Battle Frontier island. Tom's boat docked at the port and Lugia swam beside to let Shinxy safely climb off. A crowd had slowly began gathering as they saw Lugia. Lugia: Hmmm. I'm not sure I'm in any mood to have lots of people look at me now. I would like to rest in the pokeball, Shinxy. Shinxy: You got it! Shinxy returned Lugia to it's pokeball, and the crowd of trainers could be heard making "aaaww"s in disappointment, as they wanted to take more pictures. Shinxy: Eheheh, sorry everyone! Lugia is too tired to be in front of a crowd right now. Mewtwo: I'm glad I don't get the same kind of attention from strangers. Altan: You aren't as famous as Lugia. Most people don't even know what you are. Mewtwo: Good. I hope to keep it that way. Tom: You all take care now. Plenty of other boats here to take you places if need be. I gotta get back to the pier in Snowpoint City. Crystal: Thanks for everything, Tom! The crew said their goodbyes to Tom, and he set sail alone back to Snowpoint City. Altan: Alright, so where do we go from here? Where's the battle facilities? Joey: Shhhh! Be quiet, you two. Crystal: Huh? Why? Joey: Look... Altan and Crystal looked over at Shinxy, who was standing frozen gazing at someone in the distance. They took a look at that person, then stopped making any noises. Shinxy was staring at a peculiar woman, a tall white-furred otter with a blue-furred mask pattern that resembled the shape of Shinxy's purple-furred mask. The other trainers who had gathered dispersed back to their normal businesses, oblivious to what was happening, giving the woman a clear view of Shinxy as well.
