He seemed to become much more interested in the fight at hand, as he commanded his Luxray to use Fire Fang on Serperior. Serperior tried to use it's speed to avoid the attack, but it's long body proved to be a large target. Luxray's fiery teeth clamped tightly onto Serperior. The electric feline's position made it impossible for Serperior to properly retaliate, and Luxray continued to keep it's grip on the grass snake until it fainted. Shinxy returned Serperior to it's pokeball. Terra: Gosh, that Luxray is merciless. Crystal: Yeah, but Shinxy can handle this. He always does. To combat Luxray, Shinxy released his Arcanine onto the scene. Volkner: Heheh, this is a pretty interesting match-up. Shinxy: Yeah, and Arcanine's gonna come out on top! The two pokemon stared each other down and charged in. Luxray bit down on Arcanine's left shoulder with it's Thunder Fang attack, and as the match-up was beginning to look the same as Serperior's downfall, Shinxy commanded Arcanine to use Flame Wheel. Arcanine cloaked it's body in fire and spun around quickly, burning Luxray and flinging it off of the larger fire dog. With Luxray stunned, Arcanine charged in with another Flame Wheel and knocked out Luxray. Volkner returned it to it's pokeball. With Volkner down to his last pokemon, he smiled and began to laugh. Volkner: Hahahah! Yes! This is the kind of intense battle that I enjoy the most! I only have one pokemon left, how exciting! Felix: He seems pretty happy about battling with his back against the wall. Altan: When we met him, he mentioned how bored he was battling weak trainers. Looks like getting pushed back is fun for him. Adam: I don't really get into pokemon battles myself, but I can't imagine sweeping a team of weak pokemon without much resistance to be very fun. I'd probably get tired of it too. Volkner sent out his final pokemon onto the battlefield, his Electivire. Volkner: Watch out, because Electivire is my strongest pokemon. This is your final obstacle, Shinxy! Shinxy shook a little in excitement, feeling an adrenaline rush as he heard Volkner claim that Electivire was his final obstacle. Of course, true-er words have never been spoken to him. Once Electivire would be defeated, he'd have his eigth badge and be able to go to the Battle Frontier. After a moment's pause, he shook his head to regain focus and give Arcanine his command. He commanded Arcanine to use Flame Burst, and the large fire dog did as instructed, releasing a projectile of fire from his mouth at Electivire. Electivire charged at Arcanine, evading the attack and delivering a powerful Thunder Punch to the fire dog. Electivire's attack dealt a swift K.O. to Arcanine, and Shinxy returned it to it's pokeball. Crystal: Wow, Volkner wasn't kidding when he said Electivire was his strongest pokemon. Mewtwo: Arcanine already took some damage from Luxray, don't forget. Shinxy: That's... that's okay... I still have two great pokemon left! Shinxy sent his Quagsire out onto the field. Shinxy: Quagisre is a ground type, so Electivire's electric attacks won't work! Looks like we're in the clear. Volkner: Heheheh, you should know not to celebrate early. Shinxy gritted his teeth and commanded his Quagsire to use Mud Bomb. At the same time, Volkner ordered his Electivire to use Giga Impact. Electivire closed the gap as it charged at Quagsire, taking the Mud Bomb directly, yet still pushed forth with little to no hesitation. Electivire's Giga Impact slammed hard into Quagsire, knocking it back several feet and onto it's back, knocking out Quagsire in a single hit. Shinxy returned Quagsire to it's pokeball. Terra: Wow, in just one hit? And Quagsire isn't a pokemon with weak defenses... Dreike: So that's the power of Sinnoh's strongest gym leader. Shinxy gulped and began to look genuinely concerned. As he sent out his final pokemon, Noivern, he began to think that he would not be able to stop Electivire. Crystal: Shinxy!! Don't give up, you got this! Altan: Giga Impact makes the user unable to attack for a while! Strike while the iron is hot! Shinxy then perked his eyes open to focus again, inspired by his friends and their unending confidence in him. Shinxy then ordered his Noivern to use Dragon Pulse. Noivern took to the air and fired a shockwave of energy from it's mouth, striking Electivire directly. Electivire began to look weakened, but then stood up as it regained it's energy after using Giga Impact. Shinxy: S-Stay in the air, Noivern! Electivire can't reach you like that! Volkner: Heheh, I wouldn't be so sure about that. Electivire, bring it down with a Thunder Punch. With Volkner's command issued, Electivire took a mighty jump into the air, dealing a hefty electric punch to Noivern before Shinxy could call out to avoid it. Noivern was slammed into the ground before Electivire landed, but the dragon bat managed to stay conscious, despite heavy damage that kept it from building the strength to fly again. Terra: No way... Felix: You're still in this! Don't give up!! Volkner: This was a fun battle, but it's time to put it to an end. Electivire, use Giga Impact and finish that Noivern. Electivire led another powerful charge at Noivern, looking to knock out the weakened dragon bat. Noivern struggled, but managed to lift itself up with the claws on it's wings, glaring at Electivire as it approached. Shinxy: Y-Yeah... yeah, it is time to put this to an end! Noivern, use Dragon Pulse! As Electivire reached point-blank range, Noivern fired another shockwave of energy from it's maw at the powerful electric 'mon. Noivern's last-ditch Dragon Pulse sent Electivire flying several feet back, and it collapsed onto it's back. Electivire had fainted, and Shinxy and his pokemon won the battle. Volkner returned Electivire to it's pokeball. Shinxy: YEEEESSSS!! AHAHAHAH, NOIVEERRRRRNNN!! Shinxy pounced on his Noivern and tightly hugged it around it's waist. His friends, and even Volkner chuckled at Shinxy's exceedingly happy attitude at winning the battle. Altan: You know, when Shinxy caught that Noivern in it's pre-evolved form, it wasn't the most obedient of his pokemon. It's come a long way, just like Shinxy has. Felix: He certainly has. It's so cool to see how him and his pokemon have grown since we met in Jubilife City. Crystal: You did it, Shinxy!! Dreike: I'll admit, that battle had me on the edge of my seat. Terra: Same here! That Electivire is so strong, and it was so close! Adam: Hahah, that was superb! Makes me want to get into raising pokemon too! Mewtwo: Well done, my trainer. As Shinxy cried loud and happy tears while squeezing the air from his Noivern, Volkner approached him from across the battlefield. Volkner: That was a splendid battle, Shinxy! I had a lot of fun. I'm glad you were able to defeat the other gym leaders and give me a good match. Here, this Beacon Badge is for you, your eighth and final Sinnoh gym badge! Shinxy looked up at the badge with Sparkles in his eyes. He let go of Noivern and gently took the badge, then inserted it alongside the other seven in his trainer case. Shinxy: T-... Thank you, sir! Volkner: Here, take these too. Your prize money for winning, and a technical machine, TM57. Shinxy: Thanks so much! ...What's inside this TM? Volkner: What's inside that technical machine is Charge Beam. Remember when Raichu used it? It has a chance to raise the user's special attack if it hits. It's pretty electrifying! Shinxy: That sounds really handy, thanks! Altan, Crystal and Mewtwo gathered close by to Shinxy, while the rest of Shinxy's pals headed out the front door. Altan: You ready to go, Shinxy? Shinxy: Yeah... Thanks for the battle, Volkner. Volkner: Thank you too. Now, don't let me keep you from your goal. Now that you have eight badges, the Battle Frontier is waiting for you. Or the Pokemon League, your call. Shinxy: Alright, we're off! Shinxy returned Noivern to it's pokeball, and the group headed to the door. Shinxy: We'll stop by the pokemon center first, then we set sail! Crystal: Yay! I can't wait to see the Battle Frontier, and to meet your mom!
