Dreike's Charizard used Flamethrower and Shinxy's Noivern used Air Slash to target the legendary creature from a safe distance. However, Charon commanded Lugia to use Calm Mind to fortify it's defenses against the attacks. Both attacks made direct hits, but did little to effect Lugia. Dreike: Rats, our attacks aren't doing a thing to that pokemon. It's too powerful! Shinxy: What if we try all attacking it together? Terra: Good idea! You two, bring your pokemon closer to Rayquaza so we can launch a combination attack! Noivern and Charizard flew closer to the sides of Rayquaza's head. Their trainers coordinated their attacks together, Rayquaza using Dragon Pulse, Charizard with Flamethrower and Noivern with Air Slash. Shinxy's Mew even added it's own Psybeam in the mix to help out as much as it could. Charon commanded Lugia to counter with Aeroblast, and Lugia fired it's powerful beam once again at the oncoming combination attack. The collision of these moves released a powerful shockwave that ripped a massive hole in the clouds below and above it, revealing the sky above and the ocean below. Rayquaza and the others' powerful combination attack pushed back Lugia's Aeroblast, and dealt a direct hit to it. Lugia was severely weakened as a result, but still managed to float strong. Shinxy: Yeah! How do you like that?! Charon: Damn it! Deoxys, get over here and help me! Deoxys heard it's master's command, and proceeded to fly over to him, only to be stopped in it's track by Mewtwo, flying directly in it's way. Mewtwo: We aren't done here. If you want to help that evil man you'll have to defeat me first. Mewtwo pushed Deoxys away with a psychic blast and continued to keep it occupied and away from Commander Charon. Charon: Grrrr... you lot think you have me on the brink, but Lugia has quite a useful set of moves at it's disposal. Allow me to show you. Lugia, use Recover! Lugia's bode emitted a green aura, and signs of injury disappeared from it's body. It proceeded to face Rayquaza and the others again as if it wasn't impacted by the combination attack. Shinxy: You've got to be kidding me... Terra: We'll never bring it down if it can just fortify itself with Calm Mind and then use Recover... How do we win against something like that? Dreike: If we can't bring down Lugia, then we target Charon. If we destroy the pokeball that he captured Lugia with, it'll be set free. Deoxys can't get in our way with Mewtwo fighting it. Shinxy, let's flank Lugia by both sides. Terra, keep Rayquaza in front of it to attack. Shinxy and Terra: Okay! Dreike's Charizard flew to Lugia's right, and Shinxy's Noivern on the left. Rayquaza fired another Dragon Pulse at Lugia directly as Dreike and Shinxy began to fly closer to Charon. Charon: Stupid insects. Lugia, swat them out of the sky! Lugia flapped it's wings with great force. Dreike and his Charizard dodged Lugia's right wing, but Noivern could not skillfully maneuver like Charizard could, and was struck with Lugia's left wing. Shinxy, Mew and Noivern were knocked down through the bottom of the cloud layer. Terra: Shinxy! Mewtwo: No! Mewtwo stopped it's fighting with Deoxys to chase after Shinxy as fast as it could, disappearing down into the cloud layer after him. Deoxys did not stop Mewtwo, but instead returned to Charon's side to fend off Dreike and his Charizard. Dreike: Damn it! Charon: Fuhyahahahah! That odd pokemon might've been strong enough to contend with Deoxys, but that won't do any good if it abandons the fight! Dreike gritted his teeth and fired a green blast of aura energy at Deoxys, knocking it back several feet, but doing little to damage it. He then commanded his Charizard to fly back and keep it's distance from Lugia, and so it flew back to Rayquaza's side. Terra: Shinxy... do you think he's okay? Dreike: We can't worry about that now... Damn... It was hard enough getting close to Charon without Deoxys getting in our way. If Mewtwo doesn't get back up here, it's hopeless. Meanwhile, as Shinxy and Noivern were about to hit the ocean, Mewtwo slowly stopped them by levitating them with it's psychic power. It then carried Shinxy and his pokemon to a nearby rock formation. Mewtwo carefully placed them down and kneeled, then lifted up Shinxy's head in it's left palm carefully. Mewtwo: Shinxy... are you okay? Shinxy: I'm fine, thanks to you. Just a bit dizzy. Noivern was the one who took the direct hit from Lugia's wing... Noivern was unconscious, and Shinxy stroked it's back for a moment before returning it to it's pokeball. Mew then hovered in front of Shinxy, making concerned noises. Shinxy: Mew... I'm glad you're okay, too. But Dreike and Terra must be having a much more difficult time up there without you, Mewtwo. Mewtwo: I had to save you, Shinxy. You are... very important to me. Shinxy: Same to you. Now we have to get back up there and help Dreike and Terra! Mewtwo: How can we do that? Without Noivern, if you want to join in the battle again, I will have to levitate you myself. I won't be able to fight Deoxys and carry you at the same time. Shinxy: That's true... Wait, I have an idea. It's kind of reckless, and we'll probably only get one shot at it, but if we can do it, then we'll win the battle for sure! Mewtwo: Hmmm...
