| " | \n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tAfter a trip to the pokemon center, Byron as well as Shinxy and his crew returned to the Canalave gym, where this time it would be Altan who would battle Byron, but only in a one on one battle for fun, not for a gym badge. As Shinxy, Crystal and Mewtwo made their way to the bench, Altan and Byron sent out Aggron and Bastiodon to do battle. Shinxy: Wow, look at these metal titans facing eachother! Crystal: I know, it's so intense and exciting! Go, Altan! The battle was breif, but seemed much longer than it was. Aggron shook the ground with it's Bulldoze attack, a powerful ground type attack that slows down pokemon it hits, though that extra benifit was not useful against the slow tank that was Bastiodon. Bastiodon, being a rock and steel type took a massive blow from Aggron's powerful ground type attack, but thanks to it's rather high defense, it stayed on it's feet, retaliating with Metal Burst. Metal Bursts' power was amplified by a large margin thanks to the high amount of damage Bastiodon took from Bulldoze, pushing Aggron to the brink of fainting. Thanks to Aggron's abilitiy, Sturdy, it was able to stay in battle and avoid a one-hit-K.O from Metal Burst. With Aggron still in the battle, it hit Bastiodon with another Bulldoze, and with a second powerful hit from the ground type move, Bastiodon went down. Byron returned his defeated pokemon to it's pokeball. Byron: Wow, my strongest pokemon going down twice in a row? Gotta say that hurts my pride a bit, but at the same time I'm proud to see young trainers with such strong pokemon! Well done! Altan: Thank you sir. Aggron is my strongest pokemon as well, and it was really fun to pit it against another strong steel type like Bastiodon. Byron: As promised, I'll award you a special prize! Wait right there, I'll be back in a moment. Byron left the main battle room into a door in the back. Shinxy, Crystal and Mewtwo appraoched Altan as they waited. Byron emerged moments later with a peculiar-looking stone. He brought it over and handed it to Altan. Altan: Ooof! It's a little heavy... Shinxy: What is that? Byron: That, young trainers, is a pokemon fossil. An Armor Fossil, to be exact. I dug it up from Iron Island not too long ago and wasn't quite sure what to do with it, so I decided to award it to you, Altan! Crystal: Wow, what a cool souvenir! Byron: I'm glad you think so! But it's more than just a simple souvenir, if you choose to do more with it. See, Pokemon like my Bastiodon and Roark's Cranidos are ancient pokemon, having gone extinct about one-hundred-million years ago. Shinxy: Woah... then, how do you and Roark have them? Byron: The scientists over at Oreburgh City's mining museum have the technology to revive pokemon from fossils! Be sure to stop by on your way to Snowpoint City. They'll revive that pokemon, free of charge. Altan: That's incredible! But, what kind of pokemon fossil is this? Byron: That there is an Armor Fossil. As for what pokemon will be revived by it, I'll let it be a surprise. I'm positive you will love it, Altan! Altan: Great, now you got me all giddy. Thank you, Byron. Come on guys, let's get going. Shinxy: Heck yeah! Let's go see what's in that fossil! Crystal: It was very nice to meet you, Byron! Byron: Likewise! Farewell, trainers! Altan returned Aggron to it's pokeball and put the Armor Fossil in his bag, and the crew left the gym and made their way out of Canalave City. Mewtwo: Reviving extinct pokemon from fossils sounds very interesting. I would like to see this. Crystal: Me too! Shinxy: Oreburgh City isn't that far from here, and the day is still pretty young! We can probably stop by the museum and make it to Snowpoint before it gets dark. Altan: Good idea. I can't wait to see what's in this thing. After a breif trip across Jubilife City and Route 203, the gang made it to Oreburgh City. They headed over to the Mining Museum, and Altan placed the fossil on the front desk. Just then, a familiar face stepped over to greet them. Roark: Wow, Shinxy and company! It's been a while. Shinxy: Roark! Wow it feels like it's been forever since I last saw you! Roark: Getting a lot of gym badges surely makes it seem that way! How goes your adventure? Shinxy: Great, actually! Just got my sixth gym badge from your dad, Byron in Canalave. Altan: And after that he challenged my Aggron with his Bastiodon in a head-to-head. I beat him and he gave me this fossil. We're here to revie whatever pokemon is in it. Crystal: And then we're going to Snowpoint City! Roark: No kidding?! Gosh, both of you beating my dad's Bastiodon, incredible! And that tall pokemon right there is really cool, too! Must be exotic, I've never seen one those before. He was referring to Mewtwo, standing beside Shinxy. Shinxy: You bet! One of the Museum workers in a lab coat approached the front desk. Scientist: Sorry for the wait, I assumed it would be rude to interrupt your conversation with our city's gym leader, but I'm sure you're eager to revive that fossil you put on the desk, yes? Altan: Oh, yes please. Scientist: Very well, wait here and I will return with the revived pokemon. Shinxy: Awww, we don't get to watch the process? Scientist: The back room is restricted to employees only, sorry. Roark: It's fine! Heheh, I love having the opportunity to be around here for a fossil revival. The scientist took the fossil and carried it through the employees-only door to the back room. There was a flash of light and buzzing sounds coming from the room. After a moment of anticipation, the lab worker returned with a pokeball and handed it to Altan. Scientist: The revival was successful, as always. Your new fossil pokemon is in that pokeball. Have a nice day! Roark: Ooooohh! Let's see it! Altan: Let's take it outside first, just in case it turns out to be really big. I don't want to accidentally break something in the museum. And so, the gang headed outside. Altan lightly tossed his new pokeball in front of him, and out emerged a Sheildon. The newly revived pokemon paced around slowly. Shinxy: Amazing! That pokemon came out of the armor fossil? I've never seen one of those before! Roark: You bet it did! That's a Sheildon, a prehistoric rival of Cranidos. You raise that pokemon with care, and it will evolve into Bastiodon! Crystal: Aaawww, it's so cute! Altan: Wow, I'll get to have my own Bastiodon? Byron was definitly right about me loving the pokemon that came out of the fossil. Altan tried to pick up and hold his new Sheildon, but he couldn't lift it an inch. Roark: Yeah I wouldn't try that if I were you. It weighs over 120 pounds. Altan: Aheheh, thanks. Altan simply sat down and petted his Sheildon, since he couldn't lift it. Roark: Well, it was great to see you all again! I have a gym to run, so I'll catch you later. Thanks for showing off your new Sheildon! It brings back memories of my dad's Bastiodon before it evolved. Altan: No problem, Roark. You take care. Roark: Oh, and don't forget to pick up some snow boots and gloves before heading out to Snowpoint! We got a shop that sells them here in Oreburgh. Shinxy: Wow, I almost forgot! Thanks! Roark headed off back into his gym, and Altan returned Sheildon to it's pokeball. The gang then headed to the pokemart and each bought a pair of boots and gloves to prepare for their trip. They took their new purchases outside and put them in their bags. Crystal: Oh, but what about Mewtwo? Shinxy: I still have Mewtwo's coat and hat in my bag. Crasher Wake said I should keep it on me for when we get going to Snowpoint. So she won't get cold either. Mewtwo: Thank you, Shinxy.
