Byron: I commend you for making it this far. However, Bastiodon may prove to be a harder wall to break! Both it's physical and special defenses are rather sturdy! Altan: Wow, Byron has a fossil pokemon just like Roark. Crystal: Mmhmm. And just like Roark, Byron's fossil pokemon is his strongest. Shinxy: Alright, I'll take on that challenge! Quagsire, use Mud Bomb! Shinxy's Quagsire hurled the muddy attack at Bastiodon. The wall-faced pokemon was not nimble by any mean, and could only stand and take the attack directly, resulting in a decent amount of damage. Shinxy: Yeah! How's that! Byron: Not bad, but we'll see how strong that was once that power is turned back on you! Bastiodon, use Metal Burst! Bastiodon's maw opened, and it fired a ball of bright energy at Quagsire. The attack managed to K.O Shinxy's pokemon in one shot. Shinxy: Woah! What was that?! Byron: Metal Burst is a counter attack that returns 1.5 times the damage the user took before using it! In other words, the more damage that Bastiodon takes, the stronger the move is! Hahahah! You know, they say a good defense is the best offense... Shinxy returned Quagsire to it's pokeball, and sent his Rhydon to fight next. Mewtwo: Shinxy has to think carefully about his next move. If his next attack isn't strong enough, the damage will just be returned and Rhdyon will be next to go down. Byron: Hahahah! You see now the power of my steel pokemon, young trainer. I hope this means you aren't giving up. Shinxy: Of course not! Not after getting this far! Rhydon, use Drill Run, and give it everything you've got! Rhydon charged at Bastiodon and span into it's drill attack, colliding into Bastiodon's wall-like face. Bastiodon was unmoved by the attack, but Rhydon would not let up either. Crystal: Wow! Rhydon just keeps spinning and spinning! Altan: It's like a test of endurance. No doubt this will make Bastiodon's Metal burst powerful enough for a K.O if it fails. Shinxy: Keep it going, Rhydon! Byron: Come on, Bastiodon! Endure the hits! After a ground-shaking minute of relentless drilling, Bastiodon's defense was finally broken. The heavy steel pokemon was knocked backwards, and collapsed onto it's tummy. Bastiodon had fainted. Shinxy: Alright, you did it, Rhydon! ...Rhydon? Rhydon wobbled side to side and fell over, falling as a result of being dizzy from using it's Drill Run for too long. Shinxy: Aheheh, sorry for pushing you so hard, Rhydon. But you did great! You've earned a good rest. Shinxy and Byron both returned their pokemon to their pokeballs. The two trainers then approached one another. Byron: You've proven yourself strong enough to take down my strongest pokemon. Well done, young trainer! Here, take this Mine Badge! Oh, and take this too! It's a technical machine for the move Flash Cannon. Byron handed Shinxy his prizes. Shinxy gazed upon his neat new badge for a bit before tucking it into his trainer case next to the others. Shinxy: Thanks, Byron! It was an awesome battle for sure. Byron: I noticed you're missing Candice's and Volkner's gym badge in your trainer case. I guess you'll be heading to Snowpoint City next? Shinxy: Mmhmm. I met Volkner yesterday, but he wouldn't challenge me until I have seven badges. Byron: Heheh, that figures. Volkner is the region's strongest gym leader, he won't battle just anyone. Anyways, Snowpoint City will take a long trip up north, and conditions there are seriously cold. It snows regularly up there! Here's some prize money for winning the battle, you bunch seem to be dressed warmly already, but I recommend buying some boots and gloves to keep your digits warm too, you don't want to be walking around barefoot up north. Shinxy: Thanks! I'll be sure to do that. Altan, Crystal and Mewtwo approached Byron and Shinxy as they talked. Byron: Ah, are these friends of yours trainers as well? Shinxy: Yep! They aren't here to battle you though. Crystal: It was a great match to watch, sir. Altan: Definitely. Your Bastiodon is incredible! I know I didn't come here to battle, but after watching it in action, I'm rather tempted to see how it stacks up against my Aggron. Byron: You got an Aggron? Very nice! You appreciate defensive strategies as well. I'd very much like to pit Bastiodon against it. What say we take a quick trip to the pokemon center, and once Bastiodon's refreshed we have a one on one?
