After a day's trip, they arrived at Canalave City without issue the next afternoon. They stopped by the pokemon center to give Shinxy's Arcanine a quick rest. Shinxy then put his large dog 'mon back in it's pokeball before heading out. The City itself was unlike anything they had ever seen. A port city split by a canal and a large bridge that connects the two ends. The gang walked around admiring the sights, from the library building to the ships docked at the piers. As they crossed the bridge on their way to the gym, an unknown male approached the group. Stranger: Hey there! You wouldn't happen to be Shinxy, would you? Shinxy: That's me, alright! But who's asking? Stranger: Some blue-furred guy said he wanted to talk to you once you got here. He's waiting for you on Iron Island. Altan: Blue-furred guy? Can't be Felix, he's in Veilstone City. Crystal: So it's gotta be Dreike then! We haven't seen him since Spear Pillar. I wonder what he wants? Stranger: I dunno, he didn't say. But you can go to Sailor Eldritch's place on the west side of the city. He'll take you guys to Iron Island cheap. Shinxy: Thanks! Stranger: No problem. Say, that's a neat looking exotic pokemon there! Can't say I've seen one of them in Sinnoh. He was talking about Mewtwo, who was accompanying Shinxy and his pals close behind. Shinxy: Well she's not a native pokemon to this region. Anyways, we have to go meet our blue friend, so see ya. Stranger: Bye! Shinxy's group continued across the bridge and met with Sailor Eldritch, who agreed to take the crew to Iron Island for a small fee. After the transaction, the group boarded Eldritch's ship and began their cruise across the sea. Crystal: Wow, this is such a nice day for a boat ride like this! Mewtwo: That man back at the city seemed rather curios about me. Altan: That's just how people get when they see a pokemon they've never seen before. You'll probably get that a lot. Shinxy: Thanks for not trying to talk to him with telepathy, Mewtwo. We don't want to go around freaking people out. Pokemon don't really talk, at least not in a way we can understand them. Crystal: Hey, that reminds me. Weren't you going to have Mewtwo talk with Mew so you can find out how Mew ended up in a pokeball disguised as a starter Charmander? Shinxy: OH GOSH! I totally forgot about that! Altan: Why don't you bring Mew out and take care of that now? A cruise like this is a great time to tell stories. Shinxy: You're right, Altan! Mewtwo, would you mind translating for Mew? Mewtwo: I would be happy to. I'm rather curious about how you and Mew came to meet as well. Shinxy: Alright, it's story time then! Shinxy brought Mew out from it's pokeball. Mew floated around excitedly once it realized it was on a cruise ship going across the sea, and seeing Sinnoh from so far away. Shinxy: Okay okay, calm down please! Mew, you think you could tell Mewtwo here all about how you ended up getting stuck in that pokeball that ended up in my hands back when we started our adventure? Mewtwo can translate what you say for all of us to understand. Mew paused for a moment, then affirmatively nodded. Mew then hovered over to Mewtwo, and began making random Mew noises that Shinxy, Altan and Crystal had no chance to understand. After about a minute, Mew quieted down and Mewtwo faced the rest of the group, who had sat down in anticipation. Shinxy: Is Mew done? Mewtwo: Yes. It's a story that I can relate to quite myself. See, Mew was also from the Kanto region, but not artificially created like myself. Mew was one day discovered by two men with dark clothes and a big letter 'R' on their shirts. Crystal: Wow, how odd. Mewtwo: Mew fled to the closest building she could find. She went down a hallway and turned in to a room, where she found almost a dozen Charmanders playing around with random poketoys, colorful kickballs, plushies and the like. She transformed into a Charmander and blended in with the group. Once the strange men looked into the room, they left immediately, likely because there was no trace of Mew they could see. Shinxy: Haha, that's Clever! Way to go, Mew! Mewtwo: She remained among the Charmanders for some time, wanting to be absolutely sure that the men were gone before leaving. However, a woman with glasses and a lab coat entered the room while Mew was still there. She looked kind, and the other Charmanders smiled in her presence. The woman brought out an empty pokeball from her pocket, a device which at the time Mew did not know of. She then touched it against Mew's forehead and Mew was then secured into the pokeball. The next time Mew was freed, you were the first person she would see, Shinxy. Altan: So basically Mew fled from those guys into some facility where starter pokemon are bred, blended in with the Charmanders, and that woman must've selected Mew at random amongst the other Charmanders to put in the pokeball. And that pokeball made it all the way to Sinnoh for the Kanto-Starter-Special they were running. Shinxy: And I was the luckiest otter in the whole region who got to have Mew as my starter! Mew chuckled and sat on Shinxy's shoulders. As Mew's story ended, the ship was closeby to Iron Island. Altan: Looks like we'll be at Iron Island soon. Crystal: Great! I was starting to miss walking on solid ground. Shinxy: And we'll get to see what kind of neat things this place has to offer!\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t | \n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t
