Altan: I'm nost sure this is such a good idea on your end, Shinxy. Shinxy: It's okay! I want to give Quagsire another chance to shine, he didn't get to do a lot against Crasher Wake's Quagsire. Mewtwo: Shinxy likes to give all of his pokemon a chance to be a part of his team, despite Quagsire not doing well and being relatively untrained. Crystal: I think that's nice! Go get 'em, Quagsire! Quagsire's tail swayed slow and heavily, happy to hear the support coming from it's trainer and his friends. Quagsire felt inspired, ready to fight passionately. Maylene instructed Machoke to use Focus Energy, a move that would boost the critical hit ratio of it's next move. Shinxy's Quagsire used Mud Bomb as Machoke was vulnerable in that state, landing a direct hit. As Machoke's Focus Energy was fully readied, Maylene commanded it to use Strength. Machoke charged at Quagsire, and the water pokemon took a devastating hit, being too slow to dodge. While Machoke was still in range, Shinxy quickly acted, commanding Quagsire to use Slam. Quagsire swung it's heavy tail and knocked Machoke back quite a ways. Both pokemon were still standing in weakened states. Altan: These two heavy pokemon keep trading blows. Though, Quagsire's doing better than I thought it would. Crystal: Come on, Quagsire! Maylene: Not bad, but your Quagsire won't stand after this next attack! Machoke, finish this round with Karate Chop! Machoke charged at the weakened Quagsire, raising it's arm as it prepared to deal the final blow. Shinxy: Same goes for your Machoke! We've got just the move to take care of this. Quagsire, use Brine! Quagsire launched it's attack as Machoke closed the gap, leaving no room to dodge at such a close range. Machoke took the watery attack head on, and since Brine does extra damage to weakened pokemon, Machoke went down on the spot. Maylene: What?! Oh no! Shinxy: Yes! I knew you had it in you, Quagsire! Altan: Wow, that's a real step up from it's performance in the last gym. I'm impressed. Crystal: Yay! Way to go! Maylene returned Machoke to it's pokeball, though she didn't seem so bothered being at such a deficit, losing 2 pokemon without hers taking any of Shinxy's. Maylene: Huh, that move... did Quagsire learn that how I think it did? Shinxy: If you're thinking via a TM, then yes! Crasher Wake gave me a TM for Brine after I beat him, and I taught it to Quagsire. Maylene: I'm not surprised someone as strong as you defeated Crasher Wake. Your pokemon are pretty impressive! But, don't think you're going to walk away with a badge from me so easily. It's about time you met my team's ace! Maylene tossed her last pokeball onto the battlefield, and out came Lucario, her strongest pokemon. Shinxy: Wow, that's a cool pokemon! Maylene: Thank you. The aura pokemon quickly closed the gap and delivered a powerful attack to Quagsire, knocking out the weakened pokemon. Shinxy returned Quagsire to it's pokeball, and began to think of his next move. Altan: So, this is Maylene's ace pokemon... Crystal: The pokedex says it's half steel, half fighting type. So Psychic and Flying attacks aren't super-effective against it. Instead it only has the weaknesses that a steel type would have. Shinxy: That means it's weak to fire! Okay, Growlithe, you're up! Growlithe, accompanying Shinxy by his side for the day, was thrilled to get the chance to battle again. Growlithe eagerly dashed onto the battlefield.
