So, like Altan, I was also born in the Hoenn Region, so that's where the school was. To be honest, I didn't have a great time there. I was singled out and bullied because I don't have ears that stick out from my head like most others do. So... I didn't really have any friends. Shinxy: Wow, that's awful. I'm really sorry about that... Do you want to stop there? Crystal: No, I'm fine. Anyways... Shinxy: Wait wait wait, was Altan there too? Do you remember seeing him there? Crystal: No, actually. I met him at the same time I met you. Anyways... Every lunch period I would sneak out of the grounds from a hole in the fence to eat my food in peace in the woods close by. One day, while I was eating, Zangoose here came out of the bushes in front of me, approaching with a really scary look and growling as his mouth watered. I was so scared I couldn't make a sound, I thought for sure he was about to make a snack out of me. Then he leaped at me. I freaked out and closed my eyes, and kinda chucked my sandwich? I don't remember how I threw it, I think it just got tossed forward as I let go of it to cover my eyes. I kept my hands over my face for a few seconds, then when I realized nothing was happening to me, I opened them, and sure enough, Zangoose was eating my sandwich. Shinxy: Haha, so that's what he wanted! Please, I gotta hear more! Crystal: Okay, heheh. Crystal lightly smiled as she saw Shinxy begin to enjoy the story. Crystal: So, that day I let Zangoose eat my lunch, then I went back to the playground on an empty stomach. I told my parents about what happened, and my mom scolded me when I told her I snuck off into the woods to eat. Shinxy: Well, that is dangerous. A bigger, scarier pokemon might have actually eaten you! Crystal: Yeah, but you know when you're a kid you don't really consider those kinds of things. But, after I got scolded, my mom packed me an extra sandwich to feed to Zangoose the next day. She told me to try and lure it inside the school grounds so I can eat more safely. Shinxy: I wasn't expecting that. Crystal: she was happy at the thought of me making a friend. So, at lunch time at school, I actually saw the Zangoose outside the fence. I walked over to the fence and held out the sandwich, and I waved it around to get Zangoose's attention. When he came over, he followed me along the fence until we reached that hole I was talking about earlier. He squeezed underneath the hole and got to the school side of the fence. Then I gave him the sandwich and sat down to eat. Once we were done I didn't really know what to do next. I didn't consider that he wouldn't want to go back on the other side of the fence. Then, some bullies came by to do their usual picking on me. They'd laugh at and tease me about my appearance like usual, and like usual it made me sad. But, this time Zangoose actually stood up in front of me and growled at the other kids. I was really surprised. The other kids took off, and I was just really happy. I thought for sure I'd get in even more trouble for having a wild pokemon around me on campus. No doubt those kids went to tattle on me. But, even though I never brought it up myself, the staff were aware of the bullying issue and actually took my side. The vice principal gave me a pokeball for Zangoose and told me I was allowed to have him around me pretty much all day so long as I didn't let him hurt the other kids. Shinxy: Wow, that VP sounds cool! Crystal: Indeed he was. I ended up taking Zangoose home with me. My mom actually figured it would happen, so my parents were both alright with having him around the house. Like I said, they were both happy for me to have found a friend. And Zangoose made a great pet as well. I'm sure he was happy living with us and having our food, especially dad's BBQ. For the rest of my days at school, I was allowed to take Zangoose with me and everyone left me alone. Zangoose would always growl at the mean kids to scare them off. They knew Zangoose wasn't going to hurt them, but as little kids who like pokemon, nobody wanted to have a cool pokemon like Zangoose mad at them. Shinxy: I bet! Crystal: When school was over, we took a field trip to Professor Birch's lab to get starter pokemon. Other kids would pick from Torchic, Treecko and Mudkip, but when Professor Birch approached me I told him I already had Zangoose and didn't need one of his starters. And he was happy with that choice as well. A few years later, I decided to go on an adventure with my Zangoose. I bought the hat with the pointy ears that I was wearing when we first met, Shinxy. Shinxy: Oh yeah, I remember that. Crystal: I decided to take a boat to Sinnoh to start fresh. Nobody here knew me so they wouldn't notice the ears under my hat were fake. Also, Zangoose got seasick. Zangoose briefly stopped drinking water out of the pond to let out a soft, annoyed growl Crystal: Oh, heheh, sorry. I probably didn't need to mention that. Anyways, I spent some time here relaxing, and I caught Emolga and Buizel, and met you and Altan. And... Well, you know how happy it made me to know you guys wanted to have me along your adventure, not caring about what I looked like... Shinxy: Awww, it's no problem at all. I really liked your story! Mewtwo: I did as well. I'd like to hear more stories sometime. Then, Altan walks over to the bench along with his Umbreon, having finished his walk. Crystal: Oh, hello! How were the ruins? Altan: It's so weird... you walk into one and just come out of another... Shinxy: Seriously?! I've got to try that! Shinxy eagerly stand up and sprints over to the ruins where Altan had returned from. Mewtwo: Crystal was telling as a story about her meeting Zangoose. She was mistreated in school. Altan: Damn, sorry to hear that. Crystal: It's okay. You know, I went to a school in Hoenn, and you're from there too. I don't think I've ever seen you at my school when I was a kid. Altan: I was home schooled. I don't really want to talk about it now. Mewtwo: I will be happy to hear this story another time then. Altan: Ah, right. You've been cooped up in a cave for a long time before we met you, Mewtwo. Stories are pretty enjoyable for you huh? Mewtwo: Indeed. It is nice to hear more about what happens in the world.
