When Bronzewing (\n\t\t\t\t\tgeldazane) suggested “portals gone wrong” as a prompt for a bit of writing, I couldn’t decide which way to run with that idea. This is my unaware, male-dominated interpretation of that suggestion.

Things looked [i]weird[/i] before I went through, but I’d just written it off as an unfamiliar perspective. Oh how wrong I was.\n\nI simultaneously felt like I was free-falling from a plane and floating like a dandelion seed. I could make out general shapes and colors below but everything was heavily blurred, as if it were too far away or my eyes simply couldn’t focus on it. The biggest dark shape beneath me moved and became larger. A blast of wind assaulted me as if I were in the center of a tornado, then a heavy, warm surface crashed into me like the moon. Mercifully, there was some softness in the warm, black… leathery? surface I was pinned against; if there were not, I surely would have been squished by the impact. Instead, the intense g-forces merely caused me to black out for an unknown amount of time.\n\nWhen I awakened, the world had changed again. The heat and humidity reminded me of summer vacations on topical beaches. Above, I saw a huge, crescent-shaped gash of light across the otherwise dark sky, pierced by an incomprehensibly large shadow. Around me were either trees or impossibly tall grasses. There was a salty scent in the air, somewhere between the scent of an ocean breeze and the stink of a men’s locker room. In the heavens above, the slit in the sky closed as the shadow withdrew, until I was left in darkness. I was alone. Nobody, not even I, knew where I was.
