The entry hall is quite large with a spiraling staircase in the middle. The staff is standing on both sides of the room greeting everyone. There are several dogs, cats, horses, mice and other animals. Both male and female from all ages. The youngest looks around 12 and the oldest probably around 50. Casey thanks everyone and orders them to return to their duties. One of the younger looking mouse girls approaches Shane. “Good day. May I take your bags to your room?” \nShane reacts “Oh, thanks. We’ll walk with you too. This place looks huge.” As the mouse takes Shane’s bags he looks at his sister. She already chartered Casey to take her bags for her. Casey signals the staff that they do not have to assist him and the four cubs go up the stairs in the direction of the bedrooms.\nEvalyn and Casey trail behind a bit, leaving Shane with the mouse girl. He looks at her and decides to strike up a conversation. “So, you look around our age. How long have you been here?”\nThe mouse looks at Shane with a smile on her face and replies: “This is my first year here. I dropped out of secondary school due to learning disabilities. My family has been serving the Nicolai family for generations already and when I dropped out of school, it was inevitable that I would wind up here. Don’t let my looks and height mislead you though. I am 16 years old.”\n“Wow. That reminds me of our mother. She’s pretty small too. And how is it here?”\n“Comparing me to your mother? I’m not sure how I feel about that…Anyway, the living quarters are decent enough I guess. The family takes good care of their servants. As long as we are available on the days our schedule requires, we are free to do anything else on our days off. And there a lot of other people around.”\n“Yeah, I saw that. Was that everyone back in the hallway?”\n“Oh no, that’s just the staff for today. Most of us work here 5 or 6 days a week. I think Annabelle, our head maid, is the only one working 24/7.” The girl opens a door “Your room will be here.”\nEvalyn and Casey picked up their pace to join Shane, so Shane and Evalyn could enter the room together.\nThere was more room in there that they could ever need. There were two beds so big that even one of them would be enough for them both and then some. The curtains were a gorgeous red and the view to the backyard was really nice. \nEvalyn exclaimed “Neat. Hey Shane, there is a bathroom here too!” \nShane was in another corner of the bedroom looking at the TV “This one room almost has as much stuff as our home.”\nCasey looked at the two cubs contently and said: “Well, I’m glad you like it. My own bedroom is just 2 doors further. But I think we should get underway to the stadium. I’ll give you a proper tour tonight or tomorrow”\nThe two cubs almost forgot the main reason they were here, but when Casey mentioned the stadium they stopped their investigation and followed the cheetah downstairs, saying goodbye to the mouse maid. Who seemingly stayed behind to properly place their stuff.\n\nAs the three walked back to the entrance Evalyn said “I don’t know what to say Casey, this place sure is amazing.”\n“Yeah, isn’t it? I know I’ve been lucky compared to most other kids. But I’m happy to share it if I’m permitted. The staff has their own wing in the mansion too. Some of the members live in here, others have another home to go to. That mouse girl, Dani, is pretty new here but her family has been serving us for quite some time.”\nShane reacted to that: “Yeah, she told me that when we went to the room. Caithlyn picked up on this and comforted her.\n“Now, do not try and suppress your feelings girl. This step you made was big and you have my word that things will not be mentioned to Shane and Evalyn unless you want to.”\n“Thanks for the encouragement miss Bo-…um...Caithlyn, but that’s not exactly what was on my mind.”\nGerard took a seat between the two women and said: “You worry about what you will tell us knowing that there are more people involved than you expected?”\nGrace nodded. “Yeah, I didn’t know you have children as well. It doesn’t exactly change how I feel, but I worry a bit more about possible consequences.”\nGerard put his hand on Grace’s shoulder. “Look Grace, I know you care a lot. It is your greatest strength, but can also be your greatest weakness. I promise you, no matter what you say, we’re ready for it.”\nGrace felt a bit comforted by her teacher and started blushing. Caithlyn picked up on this and told her husband to back off a bit and let the girl regain her composure.\n\nGrace was finally ready to do this. But where to start? \n“Alright. Well, you probably know the basics. I’ve had a crush on you, mister Boder, for a few months already. It is why I made excuses to come back to you after class. I am also the one who wrote a letter to you, though you already knew that I guess.” The two adults nodded their heads.\n“Well, lately some people noticed that the way I felt was interfering with my school results and I had a talk with my mentor, mister Bailey. He advised me to take my feelings outside of the school. \nAnd do not worry, I did not tell him who I was thinking about. I just told him it was a guy from school.\nI started out waiting outside of the swimming pool and maybe wait for you after games of the water polo team, but I always chickened out. After a talk with some friends I finally had the confidence to ask you this week, and here I am.”\nGerard and Caithlyn listened to the girl talk. Gerard recognized parts of the story. He was the one who notified his colleague, Vincent Bailey, regarding Grace. Before he left he put his hand on Grace’s head and said “You can trust her with anything. Do not worry. I won’t be gone for long, but Caithlyn has a lot of stuff she can learn you, if you let her.”\nGrace nodded and as Gerard left the house she had wiped away her tears. One thing was still on her mind though, and it regarded Caithlyn.\n“Miss Boder, why are you so calm and open about all this? Where I come from, when someone would threaten a relationship, we would fight with all of our might.”\n“Well Grace, I have been in a similar situation myself when I was around your age. I had a big crush on this mouse boy. He looked amazing, was fairly popular and I asked him to be my boyfriend. When he said yes, I was really happy, but knowing that he would take off with someone else ate me from the inside. I became really jealous and stalked him for a while. I don’t know if it was because of my behavior or because he was popular, but I caught him with someone else one day and it tore me up.\nIt took me years to recover from that and when I finally found Gerard, his caring arms showed me that popularity and sharing is not necessarily a bad thing. We’ve been together for 15 years now and we trust each other completely. Even if we see someone else, we talk about it together.”\n\nGrace could not believe what Caithlyn told her. She was really open about herself, but that last sentence was weird. “What exactly do you mean with ‘if we see someone else’? “\nCaithlyn carefully considered what to tell next. “Well, how much do you know about what goes on in the bedroom?” Grace blushed a bit and said: “I heard things. I have no experience yet though.”\n“Well, the love between two people is a powerful thing. But you can get at a point where you want to share that love with other people and can do so without negative feelings. Gerard and I arrived at that point 5 years ago, so if we come across someone we both might like, we tell each other everything about that other person.” Caithlyn smiled “And Gerard told me all about you, Grace.”\nGrace considered the meaning of those words: “Wait, so are you saying…”\n“Yes, I am. I do not mind you coming with us. And Gerard likes you too. However, the biggest issue with something like this is the feelings of the third person. Can [i]you[/i] live with it?\nWe always tell our children that in terms of love, it is best to find someone in your same age range, but you can [i]like[/i] whoever you want.”\nHearing Caithlyn talk like this opened Grace’s eyes to things she could not even imagine when this day began. I really like helping people too.” Caithlyn clapped her hands. “So, now to talk about the coming hours. Could you tell me what you want from Gerard? Hearing Caithlyn talk like this opened Grace’s eyes to things she could not even imagine when this day began. But this would solve her biggest fear. She really liked Gerard but would not want to come between the family setting. “You know…I…think I…can live with this. Thank you.”
 “No thanks needed. I really like helping people too.” Caithlyn clapped her hands. “So, now to talk about the coming hours. Could you tell me what you want from Gerard? I am sure I can arrange some things if you want to have some private time with him.”
“I appreciate the gesture. And yes, I would like to talk to him alone as well.”
“Alright. When he comes back I’ll go upstairs. You and him can talk about anything you want. When you’re done, excuse yourself to the bathroom. I’ll know that your heart-to-heart with him is over.”
Grace informed Caithlyn about her ideas. Caithlyn however, had a step further in mind as well.
