Sonic looked at him and waited. Shadow’s eyes were on his stomach, never matching Sonic’s gaze, “Maria and I were good friends. We did everything together. She was there when I was created, and I was there when she had problems with her disease.” Sonic’s face scrunched up, “Disease?” Shadow closed his eyes, “…Yes. She had N.I.D.S.; it’s a disease that attacks your nervous system. She was on the ARK to keep her safe while Gerald looked for a cure. Like I said, we were always together. We slept on the floor together in front of a big window so we could watch Earth. We’d talk about what it must be like down here, what the people do during the day, and what we would do when we finally got the chance to go there. Gerald was always nice, but he worked all the time. So Maria was basically my only ‘family’. She was my friend…I love her…” Shadow paused and tensed up. He squeezed his eyes together so no tears would escape. Sonic stroked his cheek, making the black hedgehog look at him.\n\n Sonic looked into his eyes and spoke with a soft, caring voice, “…What happened?” \n\n Shadow exhaled heavily as he kept from crying. He cleared his throat, his voice a little shaky, “One day we heard that G.U.N. no longer wanted any part of the ‘Ultimate Life Form’ project. They invaded the ARK…and came after us. I tried to save Maria and get her to safety, but there were too many for me to stop. I couldn’t harm them…so we ran. We went into a room with escape pods and shut the door. I made Maria stand in the space where the glass would come down and enclose you. I hacked into the system and made the course set for Earth, but the machine jammed. I tried to free the glass, but got trapped inside it instead. Maria finished the mission and made the pod prepare for take-off. But…” Tears poured down his face as he sobbed to finish the story, “The door opened…all the soldiers had left except for one. He pointed the gun at Maria and told her to stop. She didn’t listen…and…he shot her…” Sonic gasped silently. Shadow was practically hyperventilating now, “He was young…and didn’t r-realize what he did. He a-apologized and ran off…Maria fell to ground, laying in a pool of her own blood…I tried to b-break out…I tried to s-save h-her…She told it was alright…and not to blame the scared people…but t-to save them instead.” He swallowed and cleared his throat, “Then the troops came back…the pod was counting down from t-ten…it’s all a blur…the shot her a-again…and again…until she died… They tried to stop the pod from falling…b-but it was too late… I r-remember falling to Earth…and then everything going black…until…” he opened his eyes and looked Sonic, “Until Eggman found me…” Sonic had tears in his eyes; he didn’t know it was that bad. So that’s why Shadow always had nightmares, and explains why he acted so enclosed. Shadow curled a little in ball, hugging his stomach and bawled, “I-if I could have j-just b-been faster…I c-could have s-saved her…”\n\nSonic brought him closer so he was pressed against Sonic’s chest. Shadow uncurled and wrapped his arms around the azure hedgehog, staining his peach chest with tears. Sonic held him tight, stroking his quills and rubbing his stomach, “It’s alright to cry, Shadow…it’s normal to mourn for friends…” He lifted Shadow’s head up, looking into his eyes and wiping away his tears, “…There was nothing you could have done, Shadow…” The black hedgehog gripped Sonic’s chest tightly and kept on gasping for breath through tears. “Shh, just cry…you deserve it for what you’ve gone through,” Sonic soothed him. \n\nThey stayed like that for the better of an hour. Finally Shadow started to breathe normally, “Sonic?” “Yes?” Shadow trembled in his grasp, “…Don’t leave me…” Sonic gasped silently. The azure hedgehog messaged his belly, lifting his head up, “Shadow…look at me…I will never, ok? Never…leave you…” Shadow gasped for air as the tears flew harder again and smiled at him thankfully. The black hedgehog’s ears flew in surprise; Sonic giggled looking down to Shadow’s belly, “I won’t leave you guys either.” Shadow lay on his back, resting and taking in deep breaths to catch his breath.\n\n Sonic sat over his legs, leaning down and cuddling the big pregnant hedgehog’s belly. He laid on top of Shadow and put his ear to his lower belly to hear the small sounds of the kids moving. Shadow let out a smile, rubbing his belly and stroking Sonic’s head. Sonic lifted his head, his chin on the large belly, and looked at Shadow with lustful eyes. Shadow looked down at him, “Sonic?” The azure hedgehog had a silly grin on his face. He reached up and dried Shadow’s eyes, softly rubbing his cheeks. The moved his hand to the silky fur on his chest, rubbing and stroking it gently. Shadow closed his eyes in surprise, barely stifling a moan. Sonic chuckled. His spare hand reaching down and softly rubbing Shadow’s thigh. The black hedgehog moaned, “oh, Sonic, please…” Sonic rubbed his belly, slowly moving his hand down to between Shadow’s legs. Shadow groaned, “Please…Sonic…I’m pregnant…” Sonic purred, “Hmm. That’s why you’re so sexy!” The black hedgehog gasped and panted as Sonic rubbed between his legs until he exposed himself. He bent down and nuzzled it. “No Sonic!
