On and off the lights would flicker back to life, only to die out in a couple of minutes. This has been going on as another storm has rolled in, this one bringing really high winds out and the howling gales can be heard from outside. All three of us were about to call it quits with the electricity and turn everything off. Well, Kitsuno and I were. Melissa was in the middle of a shower when the power kept on cutting out. She's currently in the bathroom right now with a couple bottles of water and I can hear her trying to rinse off the soap in her hair. She didn't bother shutting the door cause it was pointless at this rate, and she didn't want to bring a lantern into the bathroom just in case she trips over it and start a fire again. Yes, I said again. This happened a long time ago back up north. The innkeeper was not happy when he found out. Kitsuno was laying back on the couch with a sudoku book and pencil in her hands. She was focused on working on a suduko solution despite that it was dark in the room. While she and I have somewhat okay vision in darkness, it's not great. Most of what we can do is make out a few things here and there in the darkness, moreso it is like an outline. On paper though, that to me is a little bit harder. I myself was getting bored. Couldn't really browse on my phone cause it would waste the power that was left on it. Need to save it for emergencies right now. That and also the signal is basically dead. The storm is that strong where it is cutting cellular signals. That and it may also be a possibility that the nearby cell tower got struck by lightning. Speaking of loud thunderous booms... now that I think about it. It has been awfully quiet. I don't even hear rain. "Hey sis?" Kitsuno's ears twitch and she pulls down her book. "Yeah Shade?" I move closer towards the window and open up the curtain to take a look outside. "How long ago was it when the signal died out?" She gave it some thought as it has been a while. "Roughly... an hour and a half by now." She gets up off the couch and joins me at the window. "Now that you asked that, it has been rather quiet." It was dark outside from what we could see, but it wasn't night time yet. The clouds were still thick with darkness as it looms over the city as it slowly passes by. "If we didn't have breakfast before the lightning struck, I would have thought it was night and went back to bed." Kitsuno moves away from the window and walks back to the couch to lay back against it. "Speaking of food, what are we gonna do for dinner later? I know you said you were going to get us lunch, but we may end up snacking light since we can't cook currently." Shaking my head and walking away from the window, I walk on over to the front door of the apartment. "Well, I might see if I can head outside and find a shop that has power so I can buy some stuff for tonight. Maybe a pizza and a set of wings? Mel has been in the mood for it lately." And, as if on que, Melissa walks out from the bathroom and wandered into the living room, she was rubbing a towel over her head as she walked over to a chair and sat down on it. Her bare body was still damp as she focused on drying her hair. Kit looks at her as she finished rubbing her head and lowered the towel down onto her shoulders. "Everything good Melissa?" Mel rubs one of her ears. "Yeah, just wished the power would make up its mind. Otherwise I would have taken a bath instead." Her attention is pulled by me as she noticed I was at the door. "Shade, if you are heading out to get stuff, please be careful. I don't want to hear about you getting swept up by the winds or struck by lightning again." She is potentially remembering the time I pissed off some birds. I forgot the name of what they were but, and this was confirmed by nearby locals after they found out what had happened, yeah. Turns out those birds were cursed. In my defense, they struck first. Those birds should have stayed away from my trail mix. Next thing I knew was one of them screeching and flew at me. Long story short, next day was a freak storm and I got taken away by a strong gust of winds and later in the day got struck by lightning when fighting a rogue. "I'll be fine Mel, I'll be quick to get out of the storm when it starts again. Now, since I'm gonna try to find food, anything else you two want me to find?" Kitsuno shakes her head, "Just the food sis. I don't want you taking your time out there and come back with a bunch of stuff like last time." I'd argue that I wasn't, but we are on a budget after all. "Alright. But, if I do find a place that has power, what do you want?" Kitsuno looks over at Melissa who was sitting idly in her chair. She looks at her before looking at me, "Just go with classic stuff for now Shade. You got money on you?" I nod before reaching into my shirt pocket and pulled out a few bills. "I'm taking enough to cover the food. Fifty bucks for the three of us should be enough." Granted to the place I plan on going to has decent food, it has unfortunately gone up in price. Placing the money back in my pocket, I open the door and walked out, "I'll try to be back fast and in one piece." I then close the door and walked down the hallway. Everything was quiet in the building with the occasional idle talk from a few people here and there in their own apartments. Not much to do when the power is on the fritz and people these days, especially in the city, are way too accustomed to using electronics to pass the time. Granted, we have fallen victim to that as well, but we still manage to do stuff here and there without it. Kit does a lot of reading and puzzles and I have the tendency to build small models as well. Melissa passes the time by... well. Aside from having sex with me a lot, I actually don't know. She's usually watching me or Kit half the time when we are doing some of the puzzles. Then again... there have been times I have woken up with her smelling of ale. I wonder if she's been sneaking out to head to the bar when we are asleep? Cause Kit and I don't normally drink so there was little point in having alcohol laying around in the fridge. I'll figure that out later. I work my way down the stairway and as I got to the main floor, that's when I remembered that the front entrance was card access only. Which meant it needed power. Something that was not available. Shaking my head as I walked out to the lobby and saw that the receptionist was not there again, I walked towards the door and pushed on it. Thankfully it has that fire escape setting where it will open in case of a fire. The only problem with that means it's currently a one way out deal. Making my way back to the reception desk, I looked around to see where the receptionist went to. The door to the back section of the reception area was open and I don't see anything else laying about showing that she was here. Hopping over the desk, I walked towards the door and poked my head inside. There was where I spotted the green hair of the receptionist under a desk. Poking around where she was, the cat girl was dead asleep as I heard her snoozing. Wonderful time for her to take a nap on the job. Shaking my head, I walked out of the reception area and walked around the front of the lobby before taking one of the fake awards in the lounge and heading back to the front door. Opening the door and walking out, I place the statue in between the door and its frame to keep it ajar and a way for me to get back in. Hopefully. Thunder roars in the air as I quickly made my way through town. I had made my way over to where the restaurant was that I planned on getting food at, well. They had no power and most people had left to get home before the storm picked up again. I don't blame them as it was a bad one today. The winds started picking up again when I made my way to another place that had power and was a restaurant. It got strong enough where I got lifted up off my feet a bit. Regardless, I got food. Specifically what Melissa had been craving too as it has been a while since Kit and I had a nice slice of pizza, so I figured why not. I even snagged some breadsticks from the place too as they made some nice crunchy ones. Almost like croutons taste wise, but bigger and fresh out of the oven. Gotta love stone oven made food. I did unfortunately have to take my shirt off and wrap it around the pizza boxes as rain was starting to fall again. Nobody was around so who cares if they see my tits hanging out as I try to get home. I'd rather keep the food warm, but more importantly, dry. I'll deal with my fur later as I made my way towards home. Lightning strikes something nearby on one of the buildings and I veered off more to my left because of the thunderous boom that followed the strike that irritated my ears because of the sound bouncing around the alleyways. Luckily for me I was close to home and kept on going. Though this was short lived as I got my way to the front door, only to see the statue snapped in half. "Why am I not surprised? Cheap statues for a cheap place. Great, now how am I going to get in?" I look around to see what else I can do as the rain begins picking up more and I felt my entire backside getting washed by the downpour that was happening. Looking around, I saw that the receptionist was not awake yet as the desk was what I left it as. Then again, it's not like she would do anything. Sighing, I made my way back out in the rain and ran towards where our appartment was. Once I was there, I looked up at the window, "Oi! Kitsunox Melissa! Can ya hear me?" I waited a bit before I saw the curtain open and I saw Melissa peering through. "The front door is locked and I can't get back in. Mind giving me a hand?" Melissa darts away from the window and I made my way back to the entrance to wait as the storm was picking up more. The rest of my clothes were getting heavy because of how soaked they were getting and I was afraid the food was next. After a few minutes, Melissa had made her way down the stairs and came to the door to force it open. Once the door was opened enough, I quickly made my way inside and breathed a sigh of relief to be out of the storm. Melissa looks at me as I was shirtless and saw my shirt wrapped around the boxes, which was now soaked a bit. She grabs it from my hands and pulls the shirt off and the boxes was slightly soaked. "Come on Shade, let's get these upstairs and get you dried off." As we are about to take off, someone coughs at the front desk and we look over to see the cat girl standing up front. "You run along back to your room mousey, I need to have a word with your friend." I look back at Melissa as she stares at the cat girl. The last time she asked to talk to me involved me doing a very shady favor for her. Granted of all times, why now? I pat Melissa on her shoulder and usher her to head up to the apartment. She was hesitant, but she eventually moved and I walked over to the desk. The cat girl leaned on her desk and gave a yawn, "You know you could have woken me earlier to tell me you were heading out." I roll my eyes before crossing my arms, "Yeah yeah, what illegal thing do you want me to do this time? I swear if it's more contraband you can forget it." She shakes her head before moving a hand down to her thighs and from her movement, she started fingering herself for a bit. Once she stopped and raised her hand, her hand had semen clinging onto it. "I know the rumors about you having magical abilities. And I got two jobs for you." I already am questioning what she wants me to do. "You see, one of the other tenants here left me a deposit. I agreed to extended the due date on his rent, but I have done this one too many times with him and his girlfriend." Her hand then flicks the white residue over the desk and it flings onto the floor. "What I want you to do is sneak into his apartment and not only leave a gift inside his girlfriend, I want you to also snag his wallet." I look at her with dead seriousness in my eyes as of what she is telling me to do. She passes it off as her hand reaches back down to finger herself some more. "Don't give me that look. This is on a more personal level on the fact I know those two are holding out on me. Just because I am a whore doesn't mean I know when I am being played." She pulls her hand back up and looks at it again as more cum was coating it. "Now, get yourself out of those clothes and get ready for tonight. I've got to get this cheapskates nut out of me." She then starts walking back into the receptionist room before I stopped her. "Hang on. That's the first part. What's the second part and what do I get out of this?" She stops with one hand on the door. "Sex with me for free and I'll cover this months rent with the money we get from the bastard. Now get going girl." She then opens the door to walk in and then shuts it. I immediately don't like where this is heading... but to get a month free of rent. That would buy us more time because we are still trying to get proper jobs. Especially with rent getting higher. As I started going to the stairs and walked up, my mind was trying to piece things together. She has to have a reason why she wants me to do this. There has to be a catch she has up against me. As I got to our apartment and I opened the door, Kitsuno and Melissa look at me as I was in thought. Melissa walks over to me and pokes my breasts a bit to get my attention. "Shade? What did she want you to do this time? It better not be drug smuggling again." I shake my head a bit before sitting down on the couch next to my sis. "She needs me to do something. But, this is getting sketchy already." Kit looks at me with concern. "That cat is a lot of trouble. Are you sure you should do what she wants you to do?" I shake my head more before leaning back on the couch. "She knows I know magic. Rather risk getting arrested for that and forcibly sold off to the mages guild, I think I'll do what she wants." Melissa glares at the door a bit before leaning over the couch to hold onto me. "I'm telling you two, we need to find a new place to live. She rubs me the wrong way and I don't like how she's using you like a tool."
