by a game developer friend of mine (go back his Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/blazehedgehog ), this is part of a series of audio blog updates I made to cover developments over a period of time, mixed with some text blogs. Dubbed \"Raccoon Radio\", and introduced with a cheesy mellow DJ voice, I went into a little more depth than I would normally be comfortable talking about, because I felt I owed a full explanation to my patrons. I don't think there'll be much interest in this, but I'm posting it up for archival purposes anyway.\n\n\n\nAug 28, 2017 at 7:24pm\nAugust 2017 Patreon Update (Audio Edition)\n\nThis is the August Update, here, on Raccoon Radio.\n\nHello there! I apologize for falling behind on audio updates. By the time I was able to record them, the updates would end up being out of date. So please forgive any background noise in the recording, as I'm trying to make sure I get this one out in a timely fashion.\n\nAnyway, just thought I'd go through a quick run-down of current events and near-future plans:\n\nFirst off, the game development project I mentioned in June. After some encouraging early progress, it unsurprisingly stalled. So most of us got together for a meeting to get everyone on the same page, and some solid progress done. The meeting itself was... strange. As I mentioned before, I already had some alarm bells about this arrangement, and while the idea was/is sound, and they'll hopefully push through into a full product, the organizer's attitude was off-putting, and the initial hours of the meeting went in a peculiar direction. I separated myself from the project amicably, but at least one person still wants to keep in touch. He's actually rather talented at 3D modeling tools, and might end up being someone I can commission future work from, in situations where the Unity Store or Sketchfab won't do.\n\nSecondly, I went to another VR meetup, after I'd skipped a few of them. We had a really awesome chat, covering a lot of interesting topics. It's so cool that an active game development scene meets practically on my doorstep. And it reminded me, \"Oh yeah, I really enjoy this stuff!\" So I've been getting back into the swing of things, right now chasing a Space Station scene idea. As I mentioned in the video post, most of the assets I used in my project were cheap or free, but I'm not trying to make the world's most unique ladder. I'm trying to prototype a scene that will be enjoyable to explore in VR. You can hear more about the project in the video I just posted.\n\nBeyond that, I've tinkered a little with a Raspberry Pi; a Zero W to be exact. It's not as beefy as the more expensive models, but it does a lot for a little package. I have some ideas for a future project, but they'll require a little bit of available capital first.\n\nLet's see, what else... A few posts ago I mentioned the Rubbish T-Shirts. Not a lot of traffic on that. I want to get the designs up on other t-shirt websites such as RedBubble, but ultimately I don't want to dedicate too many resources, or too much time, trying to shill them. It was always meant to be an experiment, after all.\n\nOn a personal note, for the last two weeks I've been on new medication. It seem to be working better than the meds prior. Keeping more active helps too. I need to switch doctors for insurance and, well, other reasons, but ultimately my state is improving.\n\nAnd I know it's like this all around, but money is really, really tight at the second. Things will be better in a few months, but for now it's a squeak. I set up a Ko-Fi for those who don't like Patreon, but obviously you as Patrons are already being so generous with your support, and I appreciate it greatly.\n\nFrom here, I'll be posting a few more Work-in-Progress updates from the Space Station project to the $4/$5 and above tiers, while $1 and above will get the final project before it goes public. Let me know what you like and don't like about the updates. I know the mic blew out a bit in the last video, but the mic on the Vive headset isn't the best. I'm wondering if I can put a bit of hose or some other dampener over the mic hole to improve that a bit. But for the moment, it's a more effective solution than setting up my desktop mic and shouting while I walk away from it.\n\nOnce again, Thank You all for your support, and for following these updates! Hope to be in touch again soon.\n\n\nMusic:\n\n\"Laid Back\" by John Leonard French\n\nIndustrious Ferret Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com)\nLicensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 3.0 License\nhttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/","description_bbcode_parsed":"<span style='word-wrap: break-word;'>Inspired by a game developer friend of mine (go back his Patreon: <a href=\"https://www.patreon.com/blazehedgehog\" rel=\"nofollow\">https://www.patreon.com/blazehedgehog</a> ), this is part of a series of audio blog updates I made to cover developments over a period of time, mixed with some text blogs.
