"description": "Hey guys! So what's up? What's going on? Patreon? MADNESS! Fear not. We've put together some questions and answers we think will answer any concerns you might have.\n\nPlease keep in mind, though, that the information in this journal may change once we've had time to actually use Patreon and see exactly how it functions and exactly what level of support we end up receiving when the payments go through.\n\n\n Patreon? Wait-What? WHY? \n\nSimply put: This is the easiest, and fastest way to get funding towards the comic. Believe me. We've spent a lot of time researching this. It's really hard to fund adult works, and it gets even harder when you're not an american. And then it gets even harder when you start drawing \"taboo\" topics.\n\n I really hate Patreon. What about Paypa-- \n\nSPEAK NOT THE DEVIL'S NAME TO US, HEEAAATTTHHEENN-- I'm joking. Paypal's AUP doesn't allow the sale of adult content. We've been caught once. Paypal is not an option for us.\n\n Yes, but what about-- \n\nNo. We've looked. We really have. We've investigated a lot of things. And the ones that are potential options are *still* being researched. Communication between companies and financial institutions isn't very fast. We're hoping to make more options available in the future, but it's just taking too long. Patreon is the fastest and easiest option right now. \n\n Okay, fine. Your Patreon looks weird though. And different. SHUN THAT WHICH IS DIFFERENT! \n\nYeah, we're doing things a little bit differently than most people that use Patreon. I will explain.\n\n Why aren't there any milestone goals? \n\nThere aren't any milestones because we're doing this the exact same way we did it before. For every $150 received we'll get another page done, with a limit of 2 pages per week. Received is the key word here. \n\nAny extra funds are accumulative to the next page. \n\n What? That sounds perfect for setting up Milestone Goals. Goal #1 $150 - 1 page... Goal #2 $300 - 2 pages \n\nYes. You're right. But we're not doing that for three reason:\n\n1) The amount displayed on Patreon isn't the actual amount received. Things can come up: Cards get declined, someone might put their information in wrong by accident, a card might expire etc etc. Since this is the case, using the publicly displayed financial amount as a gauge for how many pages are completed will just set up a false expectation.\n\nSo, for example, say someone pledges $100, bringing the overall pledged total to $150. Everyone that sees that will think \"Great! A page was funded!\", but if that person's payment doesn't go through, then we're left with only $50, and people will be really let down when we say \"Sorry, the funding didn't actually go through, a page isn't funded yet.\" \n\nBased off information I've read and feedback from other artists, it sounds like there's a card decline rate between 20-50%. While this may not be the case for all creators, it's still an issue that should be taken into consideration.\n\n2) We don't want to get screwed either. If I set up milestones, and those milestones are achieved, I would feel obligated to get those pages done whether I was paid or not because that's a visual promise to everyone. I don't like breaking promises to people. I also want to get paid for the work I do so I can pay my bills.\n\n3) The \"Limbo Zone\" between milestones. If we set up milestones and abide by that system instead of the one we used previously, there ends up being this financial limbo zone between milestone goals. In the previous example where milestone #2 is $300, then in the situation where the pledge amount is $299 that means we're only obligated to do one page technically, but we're making $299 per page instead of $150 per page. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to make more per page. And for the record, I don't think there's anything wrong with patreons being set up this way, but this isn't how we want to do things. We think the system we've created is fair, and while it might put us, the creators, in a potentially less favorable financial situation, it's a system we'd like to continue working with for now.\n\nTo date we've kept an ongoing visual journal displaying exactly how much of a page has been funded and when. This will continue to be used, and it will be updated every time funds are received.\n\n No milestones. Okay. What about rewards? I don't see any rewards. Icons? Commissions? Bonuses? \n\nWe're not doing this either. The point is to fund the comic. Anything extra is an extra cost, which means time and money taken away from the comic. We just want to focus on getting the comic finished.\n\n So let's say you get completely funded. Then what? \n\nI don't know yet. We're a long way off from that, so we haven't come to a final decision. If this platform works, I'd like to keep using it for more comics in the future. I think it's really important for anyone who wants to support Frisky Ferals and our other comics to be proactive about their pledges and to check back monthly to make sure they're supporting a comic/story they're interested in. \n\n(*whispers quietly* if I get my way I want to do a short, angry lesbian comic for Frisky Ferals after Family Matters, but I don't think otterface will let me yet)\n\n You haven't answered the most important question! This means a paywall doesn't it D:<? \n\nNo. We'll still post the comic on Inkbunny like we always have. We also post it on e621 for those that can't access Inkbunny. I'll most likely post it on Patreon as well assuming the system allows it, so if you see hidden \"Patreon Supporters Only\" posts on the Patreon, then that's what it is. Odds are, you aren't missing out on anything.\n\n How often will patrons be charged? \n\nWhat we're thinking currently is once a month.\n\n So that means we'll get to know how many pages are funded... when? \n\nMy understanding is that at the start of the month Patreon charges patrons. A few days after that the Patreon Creator is informed/sent the amount received. I haven't personally used the system yet, but I would guess that by at least two weeks after patrons have been charged we'll know how much was collected, and in turn how many pages we can afford to make. Once we know how much, just like before, we'll drop everything, and get the pages worked on.\n\n So there's going to be a delay between charges and content produced. \n\nYes. In the event that we manage to fund a full month's worth of pages though, and continue to do so, there shouldn't be any delay in posting after the initial onset. (That would be 9 funded pages for June, btw! We usually post pages on Tuesday and Thursday.)\n\n I don't care about any of this! When's the next page going to be uploaded?!? \n\nSince we missed this month's charging period, cards won't be charged until next month (June), so by mid-June we'll probably know how many pages have been funded. We'll most likely post up free pages before then (I'm going to try and do one page a week until patrons are charged), but if we can't, then mid-June is when we're looking at knowing how many pages have been funded and in turn will start to be posted.\n\n I can't help support on Patreon.\n\nThat's okay. We know Patreon isn't the solution for everyone, and we thank you for wanting to support the comic even if you're unable to. We're still working on ways to accept payment through different venues, so possibly in the future we may have another option. For now though, this is it.\n\n\nPhew! That was a lot of words! If there are any other questions, please feel free to leave them below, and I'll do my best to answer them. Thanks for reading all that guys, and for reading the comic thus far!\n\nOur Patreon for Frisky Feral's comics is here: https://www.patreon.com/user?u=749356\n\nThe current Comic is Family Matters. \n\nFamily Matters Page Breakdown | Family Matters Funding Progress\n",
