I have no clue if the colors are what Ratchet or ES had in mind.  I used the colors of Remy Ratatouille as a base for the fur.

After that is done, I go over the image with a much smaller brush, getting rid of small portions missed or too fine to take care of with the Quick Selection tool, and the eraser to get rid of colors that bleed.  You can see the resulting color layer here
