After she awoke for the first time and the tests of her fighting abilities began, the scientists were surprised and amazed to find out that as an unexpected side result of her unnatural rubber composition, Mika had a functionally limitless capability for growth that tended to involuntarily surge out when in the heat of battle. The armor meant to heighten her psychic powers was of course rendered far too small and ill-fitting thanks to that, but after some frantic redesigning the researchers were able to update it with the flexibility to continue clinging to her titanic tits, hips and body no matter how massive she became. Even if it was rendered basically useless for protection and modesty, her super-resilient rubber body made it a moot point anyway, and she was given the thumbs up to continue using her Battle-Ready Armor.
After she escaped the compound, leaving as much destruction as in the original movie, Mika eventually returned to the rubble of the laboratory after many years of leaving it abandoned. There, she dug out her old equipment - and though even she couldn't explain why, she bundled it up and tucked it away in her closet. Maybe for memory's sake...
After all, it made for a surprisingly comfortable bikini.
