So here - it's a bit of a read, but this is a post I wrote up for a discord group summarizing my thoughts on the matter. It kind of rehashes the backstory, of course, since I had to explain it to them, but I think y'all will appreciate reading it too.

I would like to imagine that fundamentally, Chryssy is not an irredeemable villain, and that based on her upbringing there's actually a logical explanation for her selfishness and evil. You might disagree with me given her depiction in the show, but it's not like I've seen past the first three seasons, and this explanation I thought of just makes sense to me... although of course, I wouldn't want to excuse her actions. But... well, at any rate, in my imagining changelings are literally unable to refuse their queen due to the way their hive instincts work. So she has been raised from birth literally never being told no, let alone being taught how to be a good pony.
Naturally, this leaves her feeling deeply empty and lonely inside, but she doesn't ever realize those are what those feelings are until she hits an emotional low point. I would think that this happens after her hive schisms, although the exact point at which that occurs differs in my alternate canon for Fuquestria. The initial wedding invasion fails because she underestimates the mane six and such, and her bruised ego turns the desire for revenge into obsession, but over time that ends up eating away at itself and consuming her until the hive crumbles... y'all know the whole story, more or less.
There's some fluff I've come up with for her regarding stuff like misplaced hero worship and such, but those are ultimately unimportant for her journey.
What is important is that she eventually does approach one of the princesses expressing her feelings in a genuine way from her unhappiness to feeling as if she's missing something the other ponies aren't, seeking answers and honestly just straight-up asking the princesses if they can help her because she's at the end of her rope. This would be almost the first time she'd ever experienced something like self-reflection and regret for her own actions so she would be completely at a loss for how to deal with them and on the verge of an emotional breakdown.
And seeing this, the princesses say that while they can't do that if they teach her to be a better pony it'll help her feel better too, and after a long hard talk she starts on a long journey of forgiveness and self-improvement.
So while within the confines of the overarching narration we won't see the end result, the princesses organize a new life for her that kind of resembles the reintegration into society of someone on parole. She gets a small house in a quiet area of Canterlot paid for discreetly from the treasury, and there are certainly ponies watching her in the background for any funny behavior, but other than that she's largely left to her own devices. She keeps to herself and has a routine mostly because there aren't many places that will let her be her undisguised self and at this point hiding her identity makes the bad feelings flare up because she instinctively understands that she needs to face her problems as her true self, not as a disguise.
Unfortunately, her invasion attempt is still fresh in the minds of Canterlot citizens, so if she were to reveal her identity she'd pretty much be hunted down, and the few ponies who have to know that she's there treat her rather standoffishly, save for the princesses themselves.
I commissioned the spa picture with Chryssy... well, because I really liked the imagery of it, but as I thought about it I came up with the idea that this spa in Canterlot was one of the few places she managed to actually find relaxation in because they would offer her a private room to just decompress without judging her for who she was (probably instructed to do so by the princesses, who worked to find attendants who would not openly flinch or get upset in her presence). At first, she is difficult to bear because she's still struggling with herself, and that comes out as irritating pompousness and vanity, partially because of old habits as well. Her first impression comes off very poorly because she even believes throwing gems around (she has plenty from her old hive) will be enough to make ponies listen to her. And of course, that's not the case, haha!
Gradually, though, the spa attendants actually warm up to her, because they see her in a vulnerable emotional state in this private setting where she doesn't try to keep up appearances. It becomes a place of healing and confidance for her and several there even end up becoming her first real friends. Over time, they go from having to tolerate her presence to genuinely appreciating her company and wanting her to be comfortable because they're aware she still struggles to deal with integrating into a society that's still afraid and wary of her old self.
I dunno, it felt like I could sympathize with the emotions she would be feeling in such a situation, so it made me happy to imagine it even though it is definitely a bit of a bittersweet situation in the here and now. I especially like picturing the first time someone actually asked to be her friend. Her emotions must have been so strong at that moment... it's lovely and also kind of heartbreaking to think about. And the first time someone actually made love to her... like, real love? Love love? All massive and growy and on the verge of tears because this is the first genuine intimacy she'd ever felt and she had no idea this was what she had been missing all these years, finally fulfilled...
I just want Chrysalis to have a happy ending.

So, er, as you can see... I've let myself get deeply attached to yet another character who I originally only wanted porn of, once I made the complete blundering mistake of thinking of a backstory for them, haha. Originally when I came up with Fuquestria I wanted to go with a simple ideal of "what if the show featured mega-sized hyper dickmares, but nothing else was changed," and of course once I started coming up with ideas like these which I felt were more personally satisfying than the show canon... well, things got complicated. n_n
This picture is a bit more simple. I liked the idea of Fluttershy and Chrysalis (once the former had gotten to know her better, post-redemption) taking a long, naked hike through the woods together. I can't imagine Chrysalis was very used to appreciating nature for its beauty, so she would probably have been open to the experience. But of course, I'm horny, so eventually they would have found their way to a huge, beautiful forest grotto carpeted with a thick and lush bed of Poison Joke as far as their eye could see, a sea of blue from one end to the other. Breathing in the pollen, rubbing their ballsacks together as they wade through the thickets until overwhelmed with arousal, they fall over and begin to roll in the flowers like horses in a meadow of sweet-scented grass, the mutagenic plants making their genitals grow and grow and grow without end...
I kinda wanted to get a small taste of that feeling in visual form.

I do think there could be a lot more Poison Joke visible, but this was a simple background after all so it's no big deal. xDI hope you guys like, and I apologize for the gigantic wall of text!
