Isn't a type that would have many friends, he's usually by himself. He wonders on what it means to be a friend to someone and feels he's just too different to his peers to understand friendship. Has a mutual relationship with his PE coach Tarou but feels a little cautious towards him because of the coach's lewd remarks at times and Kazuya is uncomfortable with lewd discussions. Has a better relationship towards his caretaker Jiraiya but he doesn't call Jiraiya a Grandpa nickname like Yamato and Ryo do.
