Its level of technology is approximately 50-100 years ahead of ours, depending on the nation and field. They are completely terrestrial and have no real spacefaring capabilities, especially now that there's a war going on and orbital ships and weapons are not deemed practical. They are smaller than Earth both in physical size and population. I don't know about the age of the planet itself, but sapient beings have existed on Takomen for far less time than on Earth, meaning civilization is not only younger but has advanced more rapidly. The number of nations and civilizations on Takomen is far fewer than those on Earth, past or present. Additionally, both humans and anthros (technically they would be 'zooanthropomorphic' rather than just anthropomorphic) exist on Takomen, and the nation with the highest percentage (and probably also absolute number) of anthros is Kantaria. \n\nWow, that took far less time to explain than I had envisioned.\n\nCulture \n\nAll four nations of Takomen (Kantaria, Bengaria, Likuria, and Wesitaria) could be categorized as extremely progressive and rational compared to those of the planet they call Terra and we call Earth, its traits and beliefs reflecting what I consider ideal. The things we have argued about for decades and even centuries here, such as universal healthcare, religion, gay rights, etc., are not issues there and never have been. Religion doesn't even exist there generally, which means the planet is overall agnostic/atheistic.\n\nEconomically, they range from pure socialism to heavily regulated capitalism, and I imagine they have drifted towards the former due to the necessities and hardships of warfare. If there currently was not a war going on, they would probably be extremely similar to much of Western Europe: large entitlements for the population, relatively low military spending, moderate to high taxation, and heavy regulation of corporations. Since there is a world war going on, however, entitlements have fallen and taxation skyrocketed, and Kantaria suffers the worst in this regard due to its circumstances. Takomenians in general look at America with a combination of astonishment and horror, wondering how they could be so dysfunctional economically and corporately yet lead the world and not face internal revolts.\n\nThe governments on Takomen are essentially parliamentary democracies of some sort. Maybe they've banned political parties entirely (which seems to be a wise idea, given what I see so often here), or they haven't and there are more than two viable parties per nation. The people directly vote on measures more often than they do here. Since the planet is in an all-consuming world war, though, the governments have more authority than usual over matters which directly affect the military, such as industry and funding. I haven't pondered the situation for the other nations, but in Kantaria, Roketsune has near-absolute authority over the military and the related industrial sectors. Parliament has to determine a budget in general, and either they or Roketsune's staff can theoretically overrule him on any matter. But, if he says he needs something to properly conduct the war, they usually go along with him immediately due to a lack of reason to object. \n\nAnother major difference between the two planets is experience with the art of warfare. One of the few things Terra excels at is warfare, because the Takomenians haven't been at war nearly as often. While the Takomenians are adaptive and bright, they don't have an extensive and massive history to fall back on to guide their actions. As a result, this war is largely experimental for them, both sides making blunders that maybe Terrans would have avoided if in the same situation. Roketsune reads so much Terran military history and strategy not so much because he enjoys it (though he does; he's like me in that regard), but because he's trying to acquire knowledge and proficiency for his military. Why spend lives and materiel gaining knowledge that can be peacefully obtained from a planet which seems to specialize in conflict and warfare? I imagine the perverted femboi strategist is most drawn to the methods and traits of the militaries of WW2 Germany and Israel, as both are/were known for aggressive mobile doctrine and very high quality of officers and troops.\n\nRelations With Terra/Earth \n\nI imagine there is some quirk on Takomen paired with technology which allows limited portals to Terra, which allows cultural, material, and personnel exchanges despite neither planet having even basic spaceborne transport capabilities. Anyway, all four nations find Terran nations and their inhabitants to be appallingly dysfunctional and primitive, and thus like to maintain their distance from them. Culturally and technologically, Takomen is utterly superior. If they weren't at war with each other they might even contemplate war with Earth, they are so disdainful of Earth's various inhabitants.\n\nWesitaria is the only nation to actually have formal diplomatic relations with Terran nations, and they've done so only out of self-interest. Wesitaria is not outwardly hostile towards them, which facilitates some assistance in money and personnel from various Terran nations and populations which either want something from them or who want to see the other side fail. Bengaria is relatively polite only because their more powerful ally insists on using them to assist their war effort and they're slowly losing the war. Likuria and Kantaria are unequivocally hostile towards Terrans and angrily refuse to allow more than the exchange of imperative messages between themselves and Terran governments. Kantaria is the most belligerent of all, largely because of their leader (which I will expound more in Roketsune's section on another submission). However, they also receive substantial numbers of volunteers who have defected from their home nations because they believe in Kantaria's culture and mission. I imagine many Terran nations really hate that and have tried to stop it and demanded Kantaria does the same, prompting the Kantarians to respond with their equivalent of \"eat shit and die\".\n\nUltimately, the Terrans have little effect on the war on Takomen or its culture. There aren't enough volunteers to make much of a difference, and I don't imagine there would be enough trade or donations to contribute much to the Wesitarian war effort. There is insufficient reason for the Terrans to provide more given the overall hatred over there, and, ironically the nation which benefits the most arguably is the most virulently anti-Terran of all four: Kantaria. And, Takomen is too preoccupied with a total world war to do more than insult the harmless Terrans. When the war ends and more resources are available, the Takomenians might become pragmatically compassionate and offer things like food and medical technology and items. Right now, though, they're too preoccupied and hostile to spare or care much.\n\nNation-States\n\nI actually have explained much of this (particularly the history and representations) in my Strategist fursona's character sheet, particularly under World/Setting. Therefore, I will not extensively reiterate in this journal entry that which was covered already. Each of the four nations of Takomen represent a category of people and/or personal characteristics. How much benefit/harm they cause me and their characteristics is reflected in the nations' traits and level of power. Kantaria represents me, my positive traits, and those who I see as friends. Bengaria represents my negative tendencies, undesirable traits, and adverse situations. Likuria reflects those who are positive forces in my life, and Wesitaria reflects the opposite. The number of people I trust and see as beneficial has declined and the number of people I mistrust has risen, so Likuria is actually losing the war while Kantaria is left to contend virtually unaided with the might of two nations who now see it as their greatest existential threat. \n\nKantaria\n\nPopulation: 120m Active Military: 3.4m Reserve/Emergency Military: 1.1m*\nPanzers: 12,000 Field Artillery: 8,500 Warships: 430 \nHeavy Bombers: 700 Tactical Bombers: 1,400 Fighters: 2,000\nMarines: 212k Paratroopers: 102k\nSummary of Doctrine: blitzkrieg/maneuver warfare, maximal offense and versatility, qualitative superiority, centralized but flexible leadership, naval supremacy\nSummary of Strengths: very mobile panzers and infantry, very versatile, superior troop and officer quality, superior range, highly advanced and powerful navy and marine and paratrooper corps, superior morale for various reasons, superior and unified senior officers\nSummary of Weaknesses: Low population and industrial capacity mean lower loss tolerance and resupply rates, weak strategic bombardment capability, population is severely burdened and less prosperous\n\nKantaria has transformed from an occupied nation to an independent wartime one, and its military from a disorganized rebel militia to the highest quality modern fighting force residing in Bengarian territory, in a span of less than 4 years. The people and leaders of this nation are truly exceptional and dedicated to have pulled off such rapid progress, and they have a superior moral justification for war. However, such rapid militarization and progress has come with great costs for its military as well as its civilian sector. Despite their great dedication and competency they are chronically strained and outnumbered, and this has resulted in delayed or unsuccessful attacks as well as continuing underfunding of civilian infrastructure in order to outpace the combined forces they now routinely confront. \n\nKantaria is a nation of 80% anthros, contrasted with 20% for Bengaria. This gives Kantaria several natural advantages: higher infantry mobility, better performance in certain terrains (assuming certain species are used primarily in such regions), better nighttime effectiveness, and superiority in melee encounters (rather unusual in that era, but it still happens). However, since anthros have fur, this comes with two drawbacks: reduced endurance during summer, and a reduced suitability for being in entrenchments or prone in mud. Overall, Kantaria's infantry, all other things being equal, is more mobile and effective than their enemy counterparts. \n\nTheir natural advantages, combined with their extensive maritime industry and capability, have prompted Kantaria to adopt a military doctrine which emphasizes mobility, versatility, and offense, a.k.a. blitzkrieg. Kantaria's military actually shares many similarities with the German military of WW2, speaking of blitzkrieg (they actually never used that term, I learned today). Their marine and paratrooper contingents are better equipped and better trained by far than any of the other three nations, and almost as large as the rest of Takomen combined. Their panzers both are more advanced and better deployed than that of the other three nations. Their infantry is reasonably well equipped and is more likely to both effect or evade encirclement due to their increase in mobility. Their naval forces are unquestionably the most advanced and effective overall (a navy is extremely mobile and are essentially movable fortresses, so a nation valuing mobility consequently would want a good navy), and have a high priority in logistical and industrial capacity. The quality and dedication of the officers in all of the branches of the military and in all echelons tend to be exceptional, and junior officers are generally given more freedom to reinterpret or even ignore orders (Roketsune even promoted an officer because she had no problem threatening to defy him if an order would get her troops needlessly killed).\n\nOf course, there would have to be weaknesses, or Kantaria would have steamrolled over their enemies by now. Those weaknesses are inspired by my own, of course (poor efficiency, limited emotional energy, financial concerns). Kantaria is a significantly smaller nation in population than Bengaria. Worsening this disparity, Wesitaria has more recently deployed massive numbers of troops and other assets to the Eastern Continent (particularly the Western Front) to assist their faltering ally. It also had (and still has to a degree) an understrength industrial capacity overall, and at the time of the revolution next to none of it was purposed for warfare. While the nation received massive support from their ally Likuria during the early days, Kantaria had to develop not only a professional and modern military, but a sufficiently powerful industrial sector to build their own weapons and ammo once Likuria had to scale back their assistance, within the same short time. Additionally, the military leadership believed it was prudent to industrialize underground as much as possible due to the aerial disparities, which has made expansion more expensive but made them more resistant to strategic bombing.\n\nAdditionally, Kantaria's civilian infrastructure was rather underdeveloped, and is not much improved from then because of an ongoing dire need to militarize as rapidly as possible (first to survive as a nation-state, later to meet its increasingly serious logistical and replacement needs). The population is subject to severe taxation, and the amount being invested in such things as entitlements, education, etc, is per capita substantially lower than that of the other three nations (this was spawned from my chronic financial concerns and spending that has far exceeded my plans). Lord Roketsune absolutely hates this reality and does not want to subject his people to this, but they do not have a reasonable alternative until they fully industrialize. He has frequently spoken to the population and Parliament in general about this, exhorting them to be as efficient and self-reliant as possible. Despite the people's substantial deprivations they revere him and the military.\n\nThe results of all of these and other factors are: Kantaria's military is virtually always outnumbered, has a lower tolerance for attrition, is chronically overstressed logistically and psychologically, and will run out of heavy ordnance before the enemy does if an offensive takes too much time. Despite their increased assets and industrialization relative to earlier periods, their progress has often slowed to a crawl, after about a year of substantial overall progress. Roketsune has consistently attempted to compensate or mitigate to maintain forward momentum and create opportunities for large-scale encirclements, but the arrival of summer and the prolonged overexertion's effects on their military infrastructure very much counters such tactics.\n\n*Kantaria's mobilizable reserves are abnormally low because it had no autonomous active military for decades before the war and thus few to zero retired personnel to recall, and most of the militia soldiers remained to become part of the regular army. The emergency staff are thus various militia and ex-militia who are unsuitable for, or unwilling to be in, the regular army, and are only recalled in dire emergencies.\n\nBengaria\n\nPopulation: 155m Active Military: 5.5m* Reserve/Emergency Military: 1.5m*\nPanzers: 14,300 Field Artillery: 11,100 Warships: 424 \nHeavy Bombers: 1,400 Tactical Bombers: 1,200 Fighters: 2,700\nMarines: 45k Paratroopers: 32k\nSummary of Doctrine: superiority of numbers and durability and firepower, bombardment on front and strategic levels, defensive and counteroffensive attrition, specialization over versatility to attain maximal effect at a given role\nSummary of Strengths: high industrial capacity and infrastructure, numerically superior, greater ability to absorb losses, regenerates rapidly, high strategic bombardment capability\nSummary of Weaknesses: lower officer competence at all levels, lower morale due to invasion, lower versatility, lower mobility \n\nBengaria had for a long time enjoyed absolute dominance on their continent. The unexpected loss of Kantaria has substantially weakened them, but they remain a very viable military force. As with my RL enemies of anxiety, inefficiency, and expenses, Bengaria has a seemingly inexhaustible reserve of assets and manpower from which to draw upon during a crisis. There was hope within Kantaria during 2014 that they would be at the Bengarian capital by the end of the year. There was the expectation within Bengaria in 2012 they would quickly retake control of Kantaria. Neither nation's hopes or expectations have materialized, and neither have any hope the world war will conclude or even subside any time soon. The nation's regime remains in a death struggle with a behemoth of their own creation.\n\nBengaria is a nation of 80% humans and 20% anthros, with a larger overall population and more advanced industrial infrastructure. This means their infantry is not as mobile, but they possess more supplies, ordnance, and reserves. In a game of logistical and casualty attrition, they will win unless they lose more than 3 for every 2 Kantaria loses. Thus, Bengaria has a doctrine of aerial and artillery firepower superiority (mostly numerical/materiel, but also technological), specialization, and armor over mobility in panzers and vessels. The opposing doctrines and strengths of the two archenemies frequently cause intense joy or frustration, often both to both sides in the same battle. Kantaria can achieve greater casualties through blitzkrieg and mobility, but they either have to pause before causing maximum harm due to supply problems, or become pinned down by overwhelming fire support and reinforcement. Bengaria is able to frequently retard Kantarian progress and to stabilize their front quickly by deploying large numbers of reserves, but even when they are the clear victor Kantarian troops are so mobile and tenacious that most evade encirclement. Whenever one side is victorious, the other usually stabilizes the front quickly, making the war a creeping, exhausting affair more often than not.\n\nThe military and industrial configurations of Bengaria are quite different from Kantaria. Bengaria has a relatively low number of specialized forces such as paratroopers, marines, and terrain-based ground units. Their navy is numerically now on par with Kantaria's. Their panzer forces are far larger, more durable, and can be produced with somewhat less expense, but they often are outranged by their adversaries in the same class and have a limited ability to carry out non-anti-panzer tasks. Their infantry is larger and pretty well equipped, and have an easier time fighting in warm weather or in trenches, but are less mobile and effective. Their strategic bombardment force is much more potent generally than Kantaria's, while Kantaria's versatility allows them to resist bombardment as well as Bengaria. Bengaria's industry tends to be surface-based rather than underground, which means if Kantaria ever gains aerial supremacy their strategic ability to wage war will be very exposed. \n\nOverall, as a result of these factors, Bengaria excels in attrition, suppressive fire, and defensive warfare, none of which they had envisioned or wanted. The rebellion was sudden and unexpectedly successful, the embryonic professional successor to the revolutionary militia was far more effective than either enemy nation thought possible, and Likuria sent far more assistance than they had envisioned. Within 16 months of their atomic volley that almost destroyed their ability to resist (this was when my ex-mate broke up with me, the singular event in my life that was the most destabilizing and upsetting; I've not fully regained balance yet), they not only reclaimed all of what was originally Kantaria, but invaded Bengaria cross-river and could not be driven back (when I attended a furry con successfully, one of the great milestones in my rehabilitation despite the souring of relations with them afterwards). The difficult terrain in the Center, overall Kantarian exhaustion and relative inexperience, and the assistance of Wesitaria in the West has mostly stabilized their situation until very recently. Now that they are being driven back yet again (and this entry revision is part of that new campaign) and have taken heavy losses, their ability to regenerate is being tested severely once more.\n\n*Bengaria mobilized about 1m retired personnel recently, so current strength doesn't reflect reality for most of the war\n\nLikuria\n\nPopulation: 147m Active Military: 5.6m Reserve/Emergency Military: 2.6m\nPanzers: 10,000 Field Artillery: 13,700 Warships: 310 \nHeavy Bombers: 1,000 Tactical Bombers: 1,100 Fighters: 3,200\nMarines: 47k Paratroopers: 29k \nSummary of Doctrine: highly defensive and very reliant on static defenses and artillery and infantry, numerical superiority, coordinated offensives\nSummary of Strengths: highly developed industrial and military infrastructure, ample suitable terrain for defense, personnel numerical superiority via conscription and volunteers, moral psychological advantage for role in the war\nSummary of Weaknesses: somewhat low officer competence, morale often is inferior due to conscription and invasion, weak mobile warfare capability\n\n\nTheir history in the world war they helped precipitate has been perhaps the most unfortunate of all. They had been instrumental in the success of the Kantarian Revolution and the early independent state. However, they lost a great deal of territory and assets early on because much of their military was away helping Kantaria, they have been losing the war with Wesitaria, and there has been increasing friction and hostility between them and the nation whose establishment they facilitated. While they have been able to stabilize the front somewhat due to the Wesitarian massive deployments against their ascendant ally, neither the massive diminishing of friction nor sizable recapture of territory will likely happen until at least next Resurgence Day.\n\nThe Western Continent in general is 50/50 and more populous, which means both nations there have more anthros at their disposal than Bengaria, and more soldiers and equipment in general. Wesitaria has become the ascendant power on that continent, which means Likuria has a smaller and less experienced military. Both nations also rely upon moderate conscription to bolster their ranks, theoretically maximizing their overall combat effectiveness by drafting the most suitable who have not volunteered while not drafting so many their military is incompetent due to poor morale and fortitude. Whether or not that theory is correct is debatable, but, what is clear is Likuria's military particularly is comparatively lethargic and dispirited. \n\nLikurian military doctrine, due to the destruction caused by the initial Wesitarian offensive and the subsequent 16 months of being their main focus, is overwhelmingly defensive. They have lots of terrain that is quite suitable for defense, and they liberally construct fortifications in that terrain which they must defend but is flat. Their primary strategy generally is to make Wesitarian attack extremely costly or disorganizing for them, and if feasible counterattack and maybe recapture territory. They go into a maximal state of offense on those occasions Kantaria lands in force and jointly they will cause great stress and havoc. Their industrial capability is on par with Bengaria's, though their military overall is somewhat less equipped with heavy weapons due to the losses they've taken. Due to attrition and leadership, their military overall is weaker than the other three nations.\n\nThe growing distance between the two nations diplomatically and militarily personifies my decreased reliance on and trust in other people, from recovery programs to furries. The summer, need to conserve mental resources, and recently bolstered general misanthropy are very compelling causes for very limited interaction with people in general right now. However, even if these were not at play, my interaction with local furries and recovery groups would be quite low compared to 1-2 years ago. Local furries have proven to generally be useless or worse. In AA I must listen to the professions and ramblings of deists who can't (or at least they believe they can't: I can't say for sure) remain sober by independent thought. In SMART I'm not only permanently banned online, but in one of the two RL groups I've been spoken to by the facilitator as if I'm too healthy with regards to addiction recovery to belong there (I'm not joking, either). Humans in general I feel are easily led vermin who should be controlled. Bronydom locally is more or less non-existent and online there currently is a crisis. \n\nAnd, of course, I do not need any of these people to remain sober and seize territory, anyway. So, I carry on more or less alone, following my own path to betterment without anyone's help. But, this great isolation and self-reliance does contribute to exhaustion and frustration, expressed by Kantaria's difficulties in maintaining offensives and indignation about an uncooperative ally they've outgrown, anyway. Kantaria has not come to Likuria's aid in recent months primarily because of the increased assets they're contending with and their need to divert all they could to execute their great campaign in the Western Front, then to numerous times attempt breakthroughs in the Central Front. However, Likuria recently enabled a great victory by Kantaria, and neither nation will forget the role Likuria played in Kantaria's early days. Sooner or later, a great force of Kantarians will be on the Western Continent once again, elating the Likurians in the process.\n\nWesitaria\n\nPopulation: 185m Active Military: 6.9m* Reserve/Emergency Military: 3.5m*\nPanzers: 14,600 Field Artillery: 12,900 Warships: 382 \nHeavy Bombers: 1,700 Tactical Bombers: 1,500 Fighters: 2,500\nMarines: 66k Paratroopers: 62k\nSummary of Doctrine: offensive and counteroffensive warfare, offensive aerial supremacy, superior static defenses to overcome deficits and assist in attack, Kantaria is primary concern\nSummary of Strengths: highest population and industrial output, excellent senior leadership, numerical supremacy, greatest bombardment capability, generally high quality despite numerical advantages, can effectively wage war on either continent simultaneously\nSummary of Weaknesses: morale is sometimes lower due to conscription and casualties, must maintain a huge cross-continental force due to faltering ally\n\nThis nation and Kantaria have a common trait: they have become the dominant force on their respective continents. They are dissimilar in many ways, though. Wesitaria's military, all factors considered, is the strongest on Takomen. They have embraced the entities on Earth which the Kantarians have repudiated diplomatically and culturally (Kantaria does not have any diplomatic relations with the Terran nation-states), thus gaining some monetary and volunteer assistance. Their relations with Terran nations and recruitment of certain people from them have displeased even their ally, much more their enemies. If the trend continues, both Kantaria and Wesitaria will continue to increase their share of the planet's military strength, and the war could theoretically become primarily or even solely a dire contest between the two powers. If Kantaria utterly prevails, there would be a bloodbath of Terran undesirables and the senior government officials who brought them there. For the meantime, however, many of their armies are on the Eastern Continent assisting their ally, making Kantaria's experience that of a lone heroic nation having to fight off the best of two enemies simultaneously.\n\nAs described earlier, Wesitaria's population is 50/50 and they utilize low-level conscription. Their ability to form specialized units and the like are thus comparable to Likuria's per capita. They tend to proportionally focus on strategic bombers and nuclear weapons more than the other nations, utilizing them either to attack the enemy on a strategic level or facilitate offensive operations. More so than even Kantaria, they favor ambush and counter-offensive operations, and have employed this strategy against a then-inexperienced Kantaria with devastating results. They also embrace the concept of overwhelming static fortifications, reinforcing their primary base overseas with almost 100 capital-caliber cannons and erecting an overall line of defense on the Western Front which was excruciatingly difficult to overcome. Their proficiency at defensive, counter-offensive, and strategic warfare, combined with their industrial might, makes them a grave threat to the opposing alliance. Only having to divide their forces to face both nations simultaneously has prevented them from overrunning Likuria.\n\nWesitaria represents in general the 'external' enemy, other people. It also comprises half or more of the enemy combatant strength in interpersonal affairs (primarily Social Front matters) regardless of whether there is an actual adversary or not. Other people generally are a much greater danger to my emotional health and aspirations than my internal problems, though the former will amplify the latter and could so easily generate a terrible storm. While my negative tendencies are quite problematic, if that is all I have to contend with to get something done (such as writing this entry), it will be done sooner or later. If other people do not need to consent or facilitate, then all I have to do is conduct research and deliberation and conduct work on it. Short of some highly unlikely fuckup or intrusion by people, I can accomplish it eventually. I can do comparatively fine if I don't need to worry about interpersonal interactions and the stress they cause (particularly outside my house).\n\nWhen other people are required, things very readily turn to shit in the worst case and in the best case cause frustration and anxiety while I act on the objective in concert with the other person. I have a very poor opinion of people in general, and I have seen time and time again the immaturity and foolishness they are capable of. Sometimes they don't do the task correctly and I have to approach them again to correct it. Sometimes they just are opposed to progress and therefore my idea or aspiration. Sometimes they will deliberately refuse to cooperate out of anger or disdain. Sometimes they are great but they cannot act quickly, causing the matter to remain in limbo until they can. Every single time no matter what, I just find speaking to people more stressful. I always, ALWAYS dislike having to rely upon and approach another person even when nothing is amiss, as that seems to generate ample amounts of both warranted and unwarranted fear and anxiety. Unfortunately, many miscellaneous and grand/frontal objectives require the assistance or input of other people, which means many or most are ultimately unattainable.\n\nBecause of all of this, they tend to have a large and powerful military that is well led and difficult to overcome, and very often work in concert with Bengaria (the 'internal' enemy nation). They often conduct bombing on the home port of Marietta or its fleet, and turn that firepower inland when Kantaria goes on the offensive. Their fleet is comparatively ineffective and Kantaria usually can at least keep it at bay when they go on the offensive, but their naval fortress of Kalobol mostly makes up for their naval deficiencies in the Western Front. Successful offensives by Kantaria generally cost Kantaria heavily in manpower and resources due to their leadership (usually led by Marshall Taneru, a thoughtful and kind officer who periodically commiserates with her nemesis Roketsune) and numerical superiority. Recently Kantaria has had more success on the Central Front, yet they have deemed it important to attack in the west simultaneously despite a worsened disparity of numbers. 2014 might be repeated all over again very soon.\n\nAll this being said, they are chronically overextended and stressed by fielding such a large portion of their military that has overall only slowed rather than reversed Kantaria's advance. No matter how hard they try, Kantaria still manages to not only mount numerous offensives, but actually take ground more often than not. Taneru has told Roketsune that they would have been victorious by now had they sent maximum support for Bengaria when it was trying to destroy the Kantarian Revolution rather than waited until after Bengaria was invaded by their previous conquest, and she greatly regrets that decision. Kantaria has grown so powerful so quickly, and now not even the combined efforts of two nations are stopping them completely. The best they can do is slow them to a crawl as all the nations cope with the massive burdens of full war mobilization, and hope to eventually overwhelm them with numbers as the Russians did to Germany in WW2.\n\n*Wesitaria recently mobilized about 500k retired and reserve personnel","writing_bbcode_parsed":"Takomen/General Characteristics

Basic Characteristics

The world of Takomen is quite different from Earth in very many ways.

Wow, that took far less time to explain than I had envisioned.

Culture

All four nations of Takomen (Kantaria, Bengaria, Likuria, and Wesitaria) could be categorized as extremely progressive and rational compared to those of the planet they call Terra and we call Earth, its traits and beliefs reflecting what I consider ideal. The things we have argued about for decades and even centuries here, such as universal healthcare, religion, gay rights, etc., are not issues there and never have been. Religion doesn't even exist there generally, which means the planet is overall agnostic/atheistic.

Economically, they range from pure socialism to heavily regulated capitalism, and I imagine they have drifted towards the former due to the necessities and hardships of warfare. Takomenians in general look at America with a combination of astonishment and horror, wondering how they could be so dysfunctional economically and corporately yet lead the world and not face internal revolts.

The governments on Takomen are essentially parliamentary democracies of some sort.

Another major difference between the two planets is experience with the art of warfare. I imagine the perverted femboi strategist is most drawn to the methods and traits of the militaries of WW2 Germany and Israel, as both are/were known for aggressive mobile doctrine and very high quality of officers and troops.

Relations With Terra/Earth

I imagine there is some quirk on Takomen paired with technology which allows limited portals to Terra, which allows cultural, material, and personnel exchanges despite neither planet having even basic spaceborne transport capabilities. Anyway, all four nations find Terran nations and their inhabitants to be appallingly dysfunctional and primitive, and thus like to maintain their distance from them. Culturally and technologically, Takomen is utterly superior. If they weren't at war with each other they might even contemplate war with Earth, they are so disdainful of Earth's various inhabitants.

Wesitaria is the only nation to actually have formal diplomatic relations with Terran nations, and they've done so only out of self-interest. I imagine many Terran nations really hate that and have tried to stop it and demanded Kantaria does the same, prompting the Kantarians to respond with their equivalent of "eat shit and die".

Ultimately, the Terrans have little effect on the war on Takomen or its culture. Right now, though, they're too preoccupied and hostile to spare or care much.

Nation-States

I actually have explained much of this (particularly the history and representations) in my Strategist fursona's character sheet, particularly under World/Setting.

Kantaria

Population: 120m Active Military: 3.4m Reserve/Emergency Military: 1.1m*
Panzers: 12,000 Field Artillery: 8,500 Warships: 430
Heavy Bombers: 700 Tactical Bombers: 1,400 Fighters: 2,000
Marines: 212k Paratroopers: 102k
Summary of Doctrine: blitzkrieg/maneuver warfare, maximal offense and versatility, qualitative superiority, centralized but flexible leadership, naval supremacy
Summary of Strengths: very mobile panzers and infantry, very versatile, superior troop and officer quality, superior range, highly advanced and powerful navy and marine and paratrooper corps, superior morale for various reasons, superior and unified senior officers
Summary of Weaknesses: Low population and industrial capacity mean lower loss tolerance and resupply rates, weak strategic bombardment capability, population is severely burdened and less prosperous

Kantaria has transformed from an occupied nation to an independent wartime one, and its military from a disorganized rebel militia to the highest quality modern fighting force residing in Bengarian territory, in a span of less than 4 years.

Kantaria is a nation of 80% anthros, contrasted with 20% for Bengaria.

Their natural advantages, combined with their extensive maritime industry and capability, have prompted Kantaria to adopt a military doctrine which emphasizes mobility, versatility, and offense, a.k.a. The quality and dedication of the officers in all of the branches of the military and in all echelons tend to be exceptional, and junior officers are generally given more freedom to reinterpret or even ignore orders (Roketsune even promoted an officer because she had no problem threatening to defy him if an order would get her troops needlessly killed).

Of course, there would have to be weaknesses, or Kantaria would have steamrolled over their enemies by now. Additionally, the military leadership believed it was prudent to industrialize underground as much as possible due to the aerial disparities, which has made expansion more expensive but made them more resistant to strategic bombing.

Additionally, Kantaria's civilian infrastructure was rather underdeveloped, and is not much improved from then because of an ongoing dire need to militarize as rapidly as possible (first to survive as a nation-state, later to meet its increasingly serious logistical and replacement needs). Despite the people's substantial deprivations they revere him and the military.

The results of all of these and other factors are: Kantaria's military is virtually always outnumbered, has a lower tolerance for attrition, is chronically overstressed logistically and psychologically, and will run out of heavy ordnance before the enemy does if an offensive takes too much time. Despite their increased assets and industrialization relative to earlier periods, their progress has often slowed to a crawl, after about a year of substantial overall progress. Roketsune has consistently attempted to compensate or mitigate to maintain forward momentum and create opportunities for large-scale encirclements, but the arrival of summer and the prolonged overexertion's effects on their military infrastructure very much counters such tactics.

*Kantaria's mobilizable reserves are abnormally low because it had no autonomous active military for decades before the war and thus few to zero retired personnel to recall, and most of the militia soldiers remained to become part of the regular army. The emergency staff are thus various militia and ex-militia who are unsuitable for, or unwilling to be in, the regular army, and are only recalled in dire emergencies.

Bengaria

Population: 155m Active Military: 5.5m* Reserve/Emergency Military: 1.5m*
Panzers: 14,300 Field Artillery: 11,100 Warships: 424
Heavy Bombers: 1,400 Tactical Bombers: 1,200 Fighters: 2,700
Marines: 45k Paratroopers: 32k
Summary of Doctrine: superiority of numbers and durability and firepower, bombardment on front and strategic levels, defensive and counteroffensive attrition, specialization over versatility to attain maximal effect at a given role
Summary of Strengths: high industrial capacity and infrastructure, numerically superior, greater ability to absorb losses, regenerates rapidly, high strategic bombardment capability
Summary of Weaknesses: lower officer competence at all levels, lower morale due to invasion, lower versatility, lower mobility

Bengaria had for a long time enjoyed absolute dominance on their continent. The nation's regime remains in a death struggle with a behemoth of their own creation.

Bengaria is a nation of 80% humans and 20% anthros, with a larger overall population and more advanced industrial infrastructure. Whenever one side is victorious, the other usually stabilizes the front quickly, making the war a creeping, exhausting affair more often than not.

The military and industrial configurations of Bengaria are quite different from Kantaria.

Overall, as a result of these factors, Bengaria excels in attrition, suppressive fire, and defensive warfare, none of which they had envisioned or wanted. Now that they are being driven back yet again (and this entry revision is part of that new campaign) and have taken heavy losses, their ability to regenerate is being tested severely once more.

*Bengaria mobilized about 1m retired personnel recently, so current strength doesn't reflect reality for most of the war

Likuria

Population: 147m Active Military: 5.6m Reserve/Emergency Military: 2.6m
Panzers: 10,000 Field Artillery: 13,700 Warships: 310
Heavy Bombers: 1,000 Tactical Bombers: 1,100 Fighters: 3,200
Marines: 47k Paratroopers: 29k
Summary of Doctrine: highly defensive and very reliant on static defenses and artillery and infantry, numerical superiority, coordinated offensives
Summary of Strengths: highly developed industrial and military infrastructure, ample suitable terrain for defense, personnel numerical superiority via conscription and volunteers, moral psychological advantage for role in the war
Summary of Weaknesses: somewhat low officer competence, morale often is inferior due to conscription and invasion, weak mobile warfare capability

Their history in the world war they helped precipitate has been perhaps the most unfortunate of all. While they have been able to stabilize the front somewhat due to the Wesitarian massive deployments against their ascendant ally, neither the massive diminishing of friction nor sizable recapture of territory will likely happen until at least next Resurgence Day.

The Western Continent in general is 50/50 and more populous, which means both nations there have more anthros at their disposal than Bengaria, and more soldiers and equipment in general.

Likurian military doctrine, due to the destruction caused by the initial Wesitarian offensive and the subsequent 16 months of being their main focus, is overwhelmingly defensive. Due to attrition and leadership, their military overall is weaker than the other three nations.

The growing distance between the two nations diplomatically and militarily personifies my decreased reliance on and trust in other people, from recovery programs to furries.

And, of course, I do not need any of these people to remain sober and seize territory, anyway. Sooner or later, a great force of Kantarians will be on the Western Continent once again, elating the Likurians in the process.

Wesitaria

Population: 185m Active Military: 6.9m* Reserve/Emergency Military: 3.5m*
Panzers: 14,600 Field Artillery: 12,900 Warships: 382
Heavy Bombers: 1,700 Tactical Bombers: 1,500 Fighters: 2,500
Marines: 66k Paratroopers: 62k
Summary of Doctrine: offensive and counteroffensive warfare, offensive aerial supremacy, superior static defenses to overcome deficits and assist in attack, Kantaria is primary concern
Summary of Strengths: highest population and industrial output, excellent senior leadership, numerical supremacy, greatest bombardment capability, generally high quality despite numerical advantages, can effectively wage war on either continent simultaneously
Summary of Weaknesses: morale is sometimes lower due to conscription and casualties, must maintain a huge cross-continental force due to faltering ally

This nation and Kantaria have a common trait: they have become the dominant force on their respective continents. For the meantime, however, many of their armies are on the Eastern Continent assisting their ally, making Kantaria's experience that of a lone heroic nation having to fight off the best of two enemies simultaneously.

As described earlier, Wesitaria's population is 50/50 and they utilize low-level conscription. Only having to divide their forces to face both nations simultaneously has prevented them from overrunning Likuria.

Wesitaria represents in general the 'external' enemy, other people. I can do comparatively fine if I don't need to worry about interpersonal interactions and the stress they cause (particularly outside my house).

When other people are required, things very readily turn to shit in the worst case and in the best case cause frustration and anxiety while I act on the objective in concert with the other person. Unfortunately, many miscellaneous and grand/frontal objectives require the assistance or input of other people, which means many or most are ultimately unattainable.

Because of all of this, they tend to have a large and powerful military that is well led and difficult to overcome, and very often work in concert with Bengaria (the 'internal' enemy nation). 2014 might be repeated all over again very soon.

All this being said, they are chronically overextended and stressed by fielding such a large portion of their military that has overall only slowed rather than reversed Kantaria's advance. The best they can do is slow them to a crawl as all the nations cope with the massive burdens of full war mobilization, and hope to eventually overwhelm them with numbers as the Russians did to Germany in WW2.

*Wesitaria recently mobilized about 500k retired and reserve personnel","pools_count":1,"title":"Takomen and the Nation-States","deleted":"f","public":"t","mimetype":"text/rtf","pagecount":"1","rating_id":"0","rating_name":"General","ratings":[],"submission_type_id":"12","type_name":"Writing - Document","guest_block":"f","friends_only":"f","comments_count":"0","views":"15","sales_description":null,"forsale":"f","digitalsales":"f","printsales":"f","digital_price":""}
