His mother Jasiri and Prince Kion, leader of the Lion Guard, are cubhood friends, so the young matriarch is perfectly comfortable letting her son play with lion cubs from a pretty early age. In fact, Thabo's closeness with the lions is what makes him Malaika's first choice to join her new Lion Guard.
