Furred World Prologue; A Change in the Winds It started as many world changing events start; with the birth of a new discovery. Scientists had long known that various animals of the world had certain immunities, Sharks and hermit crabs were immune to Cancer, many rodents had stronger immune systems to deal with their environment and it would be easy to pick various metabolisms to tweak. Gene therapy was quickly becoming a reality and with the law getting relaxed at the prospect of being “the president that cured cancer”, the idea of using animal traits to cure humanities ills was becoming a reality. These were the first generation; Humans, with altered genes, they had no distinguishing features apart from a few lines on their doctor’s forms. Ex-Cancer patients, bone weakness made strong with rhino DNA and even the odd obese person given super fast metabolism for a short time to burn it off. Then the cosmetic surgery started. The idea of curing illness with animal DNA sparked the imagination, with many comedians and TV shows running with the idea as setting for their entertainment. Soon a market had developed for the real thing, and not just within those who were already interested before this was becoming a reality. They started subtly at first; many spoiled teens got cat eyes, a few punk gangs got themselves some fangs or shark skin and the Olympics had to be cancelled one year as so many athletes came in with some sort of advantageous modification (after all the rules were nowhere near forward thinking enough for this). But eventually the craze spread among the populace and drastic changes among those who could afford it were more and more common. These were the second generation; humans with minor additions for aesthetic or practical applications. This generation was to be short lived as it very quickly reached its conclusion. Katharine Lairns was a small-time actress when she got her DNA surgery, she knew where the wind was blowing and decided to capitalise on the trend. She took her name for inspiration and became the world’s first fully animal-human hybrid, a true “cat girl”. Her news spread like wildfire around the world with interviews held with her the moment her transformation was complete. Her new black and white furred look drew the attention of every casting agent in Hollywood, keen to get this woman in their productions. Her acting career continued as the novelty of the first furred woman powered her movie sales. History would unfairly refer to her as “Patient Zero” the first of the Third generation; The internet called them “anthros” the press called them “furred”, either way they quickly started making the second generation start looking for the upgrade. Especially after Kat’s tell-all interview where she admitted her sex drive was increased after her changes, with her, very happy, boyfriend as proof of that. It was about a year after that when the accident happened. They believed it originated in china as that was where the first cases appeared but many others believed it was an attack from another world power. The very Gene therapy used to create the third generation had been weaponized, converted into a virus which played roulette on the alterations it was performing. Approximately two thousand died from a variety of organ failures caused by mismatched parts. But what followed would change the world; The Forth and final Generation. The Virus stabilised and spread, it was already made to be airborne and it was only a matter of time before the entire world was infected. This Forth generation inherited the earth; their bodies now purely of one animal and with no world power ready to admit to the virus’s creation there seemed no way to reverse its effects using the original strain. The virus had become a jumbled mess of DNA strands that threatened another terrifying plague were it to be tampered with. The world had to adapt to one where the furred, the scaled, the feathered and even the barbed had to survive together. This was when the females of the world started to exhibit some alterations to their personalities. Their bodies had accepted the concept of the animal “heat” in its various forms, their minds adapting a single-minded desire to procreate but with no set season in their coding there was no stopping it. Arousal was almost constant and with the arousal brought the fog of desire over every woman’s mind. The effects differed from person to person but most were lucky to get more than a matter of minutes after waking each day before the fog descended. The men of the world decided to descend on this as well. An effort to remedy this side effect was funded but quietly sidelined with little thought and it was quickly becoming apparent that the males had received some other form of “fog” upon their minds. Their intelligence still stood firm, but their desire for females increased. It was no coincidence that the last change that ever managed to make it into the virus was to alter the birth rate to greatly increase the number of females born. Decades of female liberation were undone in a matter of months, as the women sat by and allowed their bodies to be used. Many simply enjoying their new forms and the perks of a younger body (age regeneration had been a key component of most therapies since the late second generation) and many others having little resistance left in their minds. Jobs were replaced, laws were passed and new professions established. This was the World that the otter named Tor thrived in. His old business adapted well to the new world order and offered him many of the luxuries of the modern life. The first of which was to wake in a large bed with a sleeping bound cat-girl at the foot of it. He had purchased her at a specialist auction once his business made it big and probably paid five times what he would normally pay for a female of her looks but to own “patient zero“ was always a talking point. Though she would be given a new name; simply “slut zero”. It is common practise for a female to be bound or caged overnight in order to prevent escape. This was seen, at first, as an act of cruelty but as many females were injured by their heat taking hold in dangerous escape situations it was eventually made law for the protection of the weaker sex.))
