Your mind is drifting off, muscles sagging... Breath shifting to more shallow draws, suddenly...
*WHAM!*
You shoot up in bed and look around the room, eyes wide and adrenalin throbbing through your veins! Looking Left..! Right..! Left, right....
Nothing there..?
Breathing quickly you rub the top of your head, calming the natural reaction of your body down. It's only at this point, after the first few moments of panic, that you noticed the window is now closed and the air in the room stagnant. Oh.. well the window can stay closed, and keep that coincidentally full moon behind it.
Only sensible thing next of course, is to flop your head back down on the pillow with a huff. This throws a rock in trying to sleep quickly! Soon though, after several minutes, you coax your eyes shut, your heart rate lower, and your brain down.
Your mind drifts off and your body limp.. something.. what is that..? A lump under your side? You turn, half asleep, ignoring the lump. Your ears though, they catch a sound that darts your eyes back open! The sound of movement...? Your eyes blink, caught under the glare of your bedside clock.
The sound continues for several moments, almost like a snake's scales sliding smoothly against a rock. Then silence.
You stare at the clock a few moments, it reads "1:32". A quick pinch at yourself, you turn your head away, then back to the clock, looking at it again. Still "1:32". Okay so this wasn't a dream.
It was an odd noise but... maybe just in your head..? There it is again! That sound! It was a bit louder this time, from under the bed maybe? Your skin starts to craw again, the sound wasn't stopping this time! Gah! To your shock, a breeze fills up under your sheets and runs over your body, leaving you to violently shudder at the feeling of the cold air passing through.
Your head turns to the window. It was still closed.
Eyes widening, you feel a slight pang of childlike fear gripping at your chest, leaving you frozen for a moment. Wait! this is silly. You narrow your brow, and tell yourself you are figuring this out right now. Reaching over, you flick on the bedside lamp and put your feet on the floor... but, did you just hesitate to put your feet down?
Pft! Yeah right! You slide off the bed and your knees carefully press to the ground. Only a simple look was needed. Your eyes squinting from the harsh lamplight, you lean over to peer under the bed. Yeah it was dark under there, but there wasn't anything ther-... Movement...? Were dark spots supposed to move...?
You squint harder then widen your eyes a little, a fluid, smooth movement was seen in that dark shaped shadow under the bed. It was getting bigger.. bigger, and soon an outline formed! It was something moving! Your eyes widen again, and barely a second later you see a hard reflection from the ambient lamp light on something. Two orb like things.. with.. dark orange centers.. eyes!? Those are eyes, staring right back into yours!
Your breath picks up, and body starts to shake. Why the fuck is something under your bed!! Barely another second later, the form starts to move into the illumination of the lamp, with those blurry, lightsore eyes, it is hard to make out the shapes of the unknown figure of mixed green colours.
Your eyes are stuck on the others though, unblinking and reptilian, Almost gazing straight through, or even into you through your own eyes!
A clawed paw reaches out, it was coming for you..!
Your mind panics,
"Oh god... What does it want..?"
You stumble back,
"What does this thing WANT!?!

Bedmonsters gon' get you.
This was an absolutely fantastic piece that I had commissioned from a very swell individual. From sketch to final there was really only one small adjustment I had asked for, and even though in black and white sketch form, it completely blew my expectations out of the water.
For those of you that do not know, Rio may be a reptilian, but officially he is a Monster under the bed, or a Bedmonster if you will. A freakish yet somewhat humanoid being that creeped under your bed during your childhood.
With this little tid-bit up above, after reading it a few time's, I feel reasonably confident about it also. Little writeup's like this remind me of the writing ability that I used to use often, though, even as my technical prowess with it has fallen a little over time
Regardless of any of that, I love this picture, and hope the rest of you enjoy it, and my little story to go along with it as well.
