>Nick (12), his brother Jake (8), Jason (13), and Jason's brother Joseph (10) are walking through the neighborhood on their way home from the park. >It's the early afternoon in the middle of summer. >Nick wipes the sweat from his forehead. >"Fuck, why's it gotta be so hot?" > >"Hey, I think we can cut through here." >There was a house with a FOR SALE sign in the front yard. >It's a good chance that nobody's living there, so it should be fine to walk through. >The boys walked around the side of the house and encountered a gate. >"Think we can hop over it?" >Jason looked through a nearby window. >The house was completely empty inside. >"Yeah, nobody's here. Let's go." >Nick gave Jake a boost over the gate, then Jospeh jumped and climbed over it. >As Nick started making his way over, he heard Joseph. >"Woah! Guys, come check this out!" >Jason was the last one over the gate, and they all went to see what Joseph found. >There was an in-ground pool in the back yard. Filled, clean, and fully operational. >Joseph was giddy with excitement. >"We can go swimming! Nobody even lives here, so it's like our own private pool." >Jason wasn't as enthusiastic about it. >"Eh, man I just want to go back home and relax. Get something to eat and sit in front of the AC." >"Aww, come on! Please? I really wanna swim." >"Well what are we supposed to do about Jake? You know he can't swim without his floats. Let's just go home and get inside where it's cool." >Joseph lowered his head and looked at the ground. It looked like he would not get to go swimming today. >But then Nick piped up: "Hey, I could stay here and swim with him." >Jason turned to face Nick "You sure? What about your brother?" >"Well, you could babysit him for me. You guys are both heading back to your house anyways, right?" >Jason stood and thought for a moment. He and Jake have never had much interaction without Nick or Joseph around. >"Alright then, if that's what you want to do. Come on Jake." >Jason walked over to the fence and took a peek over it. The lot on the other side looked safe to cross. >He gave Jake a boost over the fence and then hopped up on top of it himself. Then he looked back at Nick and Joseph. >He waved and and said "See ya!" right before he hopped down on the other side. >Now that they were gone, Nick kicked his shoes off and began pulling off his shirt. >"Well, since we don't have our swim trunks, I guess we can just swim in our underwear." >He threw his shirt to the side and pulled down his shorts. >Just as he was stepping out of them, he saw Joseph run past him completely bare-ass naked. >Joseph jumped and pulled his legs close to his body as the splashed into the water. >As he resurfaced, he saw Nick standing at the edge in his boxers. >"What the hell, man. I said keep your underwear on." >"I didn't wear underwear today." >"What!? Why not?" >"Because it's hot." >Nick grunted and shook his head. >"Well, dude, you can't just swim around naked. What if someone sees you?" >"We're in a fenced in yard behind an empty house. Who's gonna see me?" >Nick crossed his arms and tried to think of a comeback, but Joseph had a point. >"...Alright, fine. But I'm keeping mine on." >Nick sat down on the edge and dipped his legs in. The water felt cool, but not too cold. >Then he pushed off of the edge and jumped in. The cool sensation surrounded his body and immediately began to rejuvenate him. >He returned to the surface and took a deep breath. >"Ah, that's a lot better." >After swimming for a while >"Hey Nick, wanna have a race?" >"Alright, sure." >"Come over here." >Nick and Joseph swim to the far side of the pool and hold on to the edge. >"Okay, so first one to the other side wins. Ready?" >They both put their feet against the wall. >"Go!" >Both boys kick off of the wall for an initial boost. >As they are gliding across the pool, Nick feels his boxers falling down. >He reaches back, grabs the waistband, and pulls them back up. >He lost a little speed from doing this, but he can still catch up. >Nick starts using his arms and legs to take big strokes. >But he feels his knees getting caught on his underwear. >He surfaces from the water and wipes his eyes. >Joseph is already at the finish. >"Hah, I win!" >Nick felt frustrated.
