I took an art class in 7th grade, but I don't think it did much to help my art skills. The best thing I ever drew in that class was the upside down guy in a chair, where the teacher slowly uncovered more and more of the picture as we progressed. But even then, the quality of my drawing started to go to crap as soon as I recognized what the picture was. I feel like I just don't have a mind for art; I can't turn off the symbol-drawing portion of my brain. And even if I could, I can't focus on the details of the pictures in my mind without the whole picture vanishing.
