The living room was dark, and all that could be heard was the pitter-patter of rain against the rooftop. A discarded pair of jeans laid on the floor next to the couch, where a red-furred pre-teen fox was trying to get some rest. Nick stared at the ceiling as he laid on the unfamiliar sofa. He hadn't planned on sleeping over at Lyon's house; he was only supposed to be there for a few hours so they could work on a school project. But heavy rains lead to the river rising high enough to submerge the bridge, leaving him with no way to get home. He didn't even know Lyon that well; the two of them had never been in the same class until this year, and they only ended up as partners because the teacher randomly assigned together. "Rrrrrrgh!" Nick squirmed around, trying to find a comfortable position, but nothing seemed to be working. He didn't know where these people got their furniture, but he couldn't help thinking that they should try to get a refund. Eventually he stopped thrashing and gave up, muttering to himself, "Fuck this." He kicked the covers off and sat up. He'd had enough of trying to sleep on the couch. Feeling frustrated, he got up and walked over to the window to take a peek through the blinds. It was still pouring down outside, leaving little hope that anyone could come and get him. He sighed and wandered back to his makeshift bed as he weighed his options. The couch definitely wasn't working. Sleeping on the floor probably wouldn't go much better. He wasn't sure how big Lyon's bed was, but he wondered if he might be able to squeeze in next to him. After grabbing his pillow, he quietly tried to navigate through the house. He didn't know his way around very well, and it was hard to see without turning any lights on. Sliding his hand along the wall, he eventually found the room he was looking for. "Psst... Hey, you awake?" Nick whispered as he peeked through the doorway. There was no answer, just some soft breathing accompanied by the sound of rain hitting the window. He let himself inside and made his way over towards the bed. Lyon was laying in the middle, dressed in a blue button-up pajama set. It was going to be a tight fit, but there was just enough room for Nick to slip in. He laid down and stole some covers. Briefly he thought about nudging his classmate to give himself more room, but he didn't want to risk waking him up. For now, he was going to try and make the best of it. At least he was finally comfortable enough to get some rest. He closed his eyes, and within minutes, had already drifted off to sleep. ... Early the next morning, a loud buzzing alarm woke Nick from his slumber. Groaning, and still sleepy from the night before, he instinctively reached over to the nightstand and tried to turn it off. He hadn't even even bothered to open his eyes, knocking several things onto the floor as he blindly felt around. However, the clock was not among them. Getting frustrated, he rolled back over and nudged into someone. "Ergh... Jake, get up and shut that damn thing off..." "...W-WHAT THE!? WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING IN HERE!?" Nick snapped awake; that wasn't his brother's voice. He opened his eyes to see a lion cub sitting up and glaring down at him. "Oh shit!" He scrambled backwards, falling out of bed onto the floor. He had completely forgotten that he was still at Lyon's house. Sitting back up, he quickly tried to explain, "Sorry man, I didn't think you'd mind! I just couldn't sleep on that couch!" But Lyon didn't respond. He had pulled the blanket up around his chest, wide-eyed and gritting his teeth as he continued looking at Nick. He sat motionless on the bed, not budging an inch after the initial commotion. Something was clearly wrong, but Nick wasn't sure what it was. All of the sudden, the bedroom door swung open. "What's with all the noise in here?" Lyon's mother asked, before seeing her son cowering in bed. "Oh dammit Lyon! Did you piss the bed again!?" His face turned red and tears welled up in his eyes. Pulling the covers over his head, he tried to hide his shame. His mother growled before walking over to the bed and ripping the covers away. Her son was still desperately trying to hide his soaked pajamas and sheets. "When are you going to stop doing this!?" She demanded, "Get up and go get in the shower!" Lyon hurriedly scooted past his mom and hopped out of bed. He tried using his hands to cover the wet spot on his pajamas, but it was much too big to hide. With tears running down his face, he made his walk of shame out of the room. "Ugh, sorry about all of that." His mom turned back to Nick while rubbing her forehead. "He does this every now and then." Nick was at a loss for words. Watching her chew out her own son was horrifying. He couldn't help but feel sorry for the poor guy. But it was around that time that he noticed his arm was wet. In fact, part of his shirt and his boxers were as well. Sniffing his damp arm-fur, he caught a whiff of the unmistakable odor. "Uhh..." "What, did he pee on you too? I swear..." She sighed and shook her head. "Well, you can wash off in my bathroom. He's probably in the other one." As she left, Nick stood up and looked back at the bed. It was quite a mess, a big puddle right where Lyon had been sleeping. Even though they weren't close, he still felt bad for his classmate. He'd hate to think if someone reacted this way to his little brother having an accident. But there wasn't much he could do about it now. It was still a school day, and he needed a shower, so he headed off to go get cleaned up. ... Steam poured out of the bathroom as Nick stepped out with a towel wrapped around his waist. Feeling clean and refreshed, he headed back to Lyon's room to get dressed. Though, he wasn't sure what he was supposed to wear. Lyon's mom had thrown his old clothes in the wash, and he hadn't brought a spare change. He wondered if his classmate would be willing to lend him some... When he entered the room, the lion cub was nowhere to be seen. Figuring he must still be in the shower, Nick took the opportunity to look around. There was a fur dryer laying on top of the dresser. His fur was still a bit damp, and he had some time to kill, so he decided to use it. The small blow dryer was quite loud, but it was doing a great job getting the moisture out of his fur. It didn't take long before his top half was dry. Lyon still wasn't back yet, so he dropped his towel, hunched over, and continued with his lower half. He was unlikely to get completely dry down there, what with all of the cracks and crevices that stay humid all the time. But he did the best he could, then stood up and looked at himself in the mirror. To his surprise, someone else was in the mirror behind him. "Aah!" Nick screamed as his hands shot down to cover himself. "Aah!" Lyon responded in kind. "Sorry!" He was dressed in only a towel, with water still dripping from his fur. Nick grabbed his towel off the floor and wrapped it back around himself. "I didn't even hear you come in. I was just drying off." "Umm... Yeah." Lyon found it hard to make eye contact, "I need dry off too." Nick was feeling awkward as well. "Oh. Uh... Go ahead." He turned away as Lyon unraveled his towel and started scrubbing his fur. Nick looked at the bed, whose sheets had been removed while they were both gone. Lyon's mom must have taken them downstairs to be washed, but there was still big stain left on the mattress. "Oh, um..." Lyon started blushing and looked away. "Sorry about that too." Nick sighed. "Don't worry about it." "I bet you think I'm a huge fucking baby now, don't you?" Lyon retorted with a self-deprecating tone. "Dude, it's fine." Nick reassured him, "Believe it or not, this isn't the first time I've shared a bed with a bedwetter." Lyon looked back up at him, "...Really?" "My brother wets the bed too. Every night. And we sleep in the same bed." "Ouch, every night? That sucks." "Yeah, it's nothing new for me. So don't worry about it." Lyon was shocked. He wasn't expecting this kind of reaction. He had always been so scared of what would happen if anyone found out his dirty little secret, but Nick was taking it surprisingly well. "So... You're really not mad?" Lyon shyly asked. "I mean, getting peed on still sucks no matter how you look at it. But dude, shit happens." "You're not going to tell anyone are you?" "Dude, relax. I mean yeah, I like fucking with people sometimes, but I don't want to completely ruin your life." Lyon didn't know how to handle this. He never thought anyone would be so understanding. Lunging forward, he wrapped his arms around the foxboy, giving him a tight hug. "Thank you!" "U-Uh! Um!" Nick recoiled. "D-Dude!" Lyon brushed a tear from his eyes. "I just... I was so afraid... if anyone ever found out..." "O-Okay, okay! I get it!" Nick sputtered out. "But maybe put some clothes on first!" "Oh!" Lyon released his grip and backed away. Still sniffling, he chuckled a little, "Yeah, we should probably get dressed." Nick let out a sigh of relief, but this reminded him of something he needed to ask. "Uh, speaking of that... Mind lending me some clothes?" ... The ground was still drenched, but the rain had finally let up by the time Lyon and Nick left for the bus stop. Nick struggled to get comfortable in his borrowed clothes, not being used to snug-fitting khaki shorts and polo shirts. It didn't make sense to him, getting this dressed up just to go to school. "Do I really have to keep this shirt tucked in?" Nick complained. "Yeah man, it brings the whole outfit together." Lyon replied. "It looks good on you." Nick grumbled at the compliment. His normal attire was usually much baggier, though perhaps not as fashionable. He'd give just about anything for a pair of boxers instead of having Lyon's tighty-whities wedged up his ass. "Well... Thanks for giving me something to wear, at least." "No problem. It's the least I could do after... well..." Lyon rubbed the back of his neck and looked up at the sky, "You know..." "Dude, again? I told you not to worry about it." "I know... It's just embarrassing, is all." Nick stopped and put his hand on Lyon's shoulder. He looked him square in the eyes before sternly telling him, "Listen man: It's fine. Your secret is safe. I'm not going to tell anyone. You don't need to worry." Lyon blushed, but smiled. He leaned in to give Nick another hug, resting his head on the fox's shoulder. "Thanks for being so cool about this." While he was fine with the bedwetting, Nick still wasn't entirely comfortable with all the hugging. At least they were both dressed this time. He returned the favor, putting his arms around the lion and patting him on the back. "Don't mention it." The two boys finished their hug and continued their trek down the sidewalk. It felt a little strange for Nick now that he knew one of his classmate's biggest secrets. He wasn't sure if it was wise to have mentioned his brother's problems, but he was certain that Lyon wouldn't tell anyone given his similar issues. As for Lyon, he was just relieved that someone found out and didn't make fun of him. He didn't have much choice but to hope that Nick would keep his word and not blab about it, but the fox had been nothing but understanding ever since he found out. They both felt like they could trust each other, having grown a little closer by the whole ordeal.
