It was a very small, condensed island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, very far away from the rest of the world. Perhaps not the best place to raise innocent young children but no one would ever accuse the adults here of being responsible.\n\nDulce’s home was all the way on the west side of the island in San Pappi, one of the two towns, and the fancier of the two. Her friend Preciosa was an east-sider who lived at the south end of Barriyon. But that wasn’t so important right now, rather she had to decide where to go. The island was her playground and the options were plentiful.\n\nIn her immediate neighborhood she could go to the local library and restaurants to grab something to read and snack on. The St. Pappi library had a pretty great selection but that was mainly her internal bookworm speaking. \nFarther north was a natural lake trail at Puntota where she could go for a good swim and people frequented for jogging.\nImmediately south was a small beach at Las Tres Esquinadas, a bit of a private spot fenced in, while further south east was Antigua, an old city where the older rich folk lived, and housed the local museum.\nThen to the east was Las Granjas, an expansive flat land used for farming. Tons of fields and livestock there, which she sometimes visited if she wanted to pet some wild cows or wild horses, even if they made her a bit nervous.\n\nIf that wasn't enough, the girl could always take the metro which connected her to the central and far east parts of the island, much closer to Preciosa. Silencito was a deep, dark forest and the northern region of the island that people use for hiking and camping, close to the main mountain range, Montaña Sin Nombre. There is a local legend that speaks of a demon living in the mountain and most people don’t go there except adventurous hikers. They say sometimes tourists even go missing? Scary!\n\nSol Diaz Beach was an expansive area at the south that mainly housed factories and boring offices, that is till you got to the beach area which was really wide, pelted with little business, kiosks and carts, trying to get tourists to spend a bit of cash.\nAnd past that was the slump town of Barriyon where most islanders lived. Packed houses with all sorts of fold, specially families and other kiddies. The school was situated here, too, at the northern edge near Cuatro. Not her but a big sightseeing hill with the island’s lighthouse in that small region but the girl had visited it a few times with her friends to relax as barely another goes there.\n\nThe busiest by far is Port Bacalao which not only houses the shipyard, but also tons of stores, kiosks and the local mall. Finding things to do and people to meet wouldn’t be hard at all if she decided to go all the way east but it would also be very busy, till the night starts to set.\n\nOh, and Sangrienta Island nearby?
