"description": "Something I've doodled once in a while. Don't be too alarmed, this is more of an experiment at this stage. Lemme be a lil transparent with y'all on the full context of this: \n\nI always wanna do some kind of webcomic. Worldbuilding is hard, writing stories is hard, but a thing a non-furry friend once told me that kinda stuck in my head for the longest time: \"I dunno why you haven't done one for your Pokemon characters, you've got the cast and world all figured out\" \n\nWhen I was thinking about that, I contacted the person who writes/draws Lil Char and the Gang, a very wholesome Pokemon webcomic. A bit of advice they gave was considering how the Pokemon species relates to the character. This wasn't in relation to how I was drawing them by the way, what they said just stuck in my mind and had me thinking about the designs. \n\nSpecifically, I think that if you look at my characters over the years, I definitely became more into embracing the original species in recent years, whereas older characters feel more humanized due to where my art skills were at the time. I try harder now to stick to the original design, so I wondered what it'd look like if I approached some older characters the way I would now. \n\nI tried this out on Karly, Henry, Simone (all at least a decade old now), and a more recent one, Rebecca. The result? Lot more round shapes! Lot more cartoony in a way I like! I already draw cute things and this kinda just adds to it. \n\nI know it can be a bit of a departure from what I'm doing now, so if I do go forward with this kind of change, it'll be once I give them at least a couple more tries to hit a good middle ground that feels right. For example, Karly and Simone I did not like the look of all that much when I first sketched them here, and I got feedback to confirm that feeling. The second takes felt more in line with their personalities and got more of a positive response. \n\nOh, something that I didn't go over with Simone and Rebecca due to text limits: I've been thinking more about shapes and how they apply to designs, so in the case of Simone I was using more rounded shapes which meant the hair would have rounded edges. For Rebecca, I tried out more blocky shapes for her bangs since I started using blocky shapes at the bottom of the ponytail, which is what I meant by design consistency. \n\nAlso in the bottom right are some characters who probably would not change much from this kind of experimenting, because at most it'd just involve a change in the iris design. \n\nAlso, Lil Char and the Gang is a recommended read: https://www.webtoons.com/en/challenge/lil-char-and-the-gang-a-pokemon-parody-series/list?title_no=154745&page=1",
