Sonic could feel the hot breath of the jackal dampening the fur on the back of his neck as his claws dug around his throat. His tight grip around his chest elevated and descended his entire body in rapid motions over the hard object piercing his insides. Slowly, the long, slick tongue and warm saliva traced across his shoulder. He could feel the rows of teeth, sharp as glass, find their way to their destination, where they punctured through his skin and drove deeply into his flesh while the vertical motions continued. How he wanted to scream, but he couldn't bring himself to do so, not anymore. Though he couldn't stop the tears from falling, he had redefined them as tears of joy rather than anguish, such as to embrace his new existence and the bond he shared with his captor. Shadow stayed awake all night, watching over Sonic as he lay in the bed, tossing and turning in his sleep. There were moments where the blue hedgehog's flailing arms would incidentally bump one of his own wounds, causing him to wince in pain. Eventually, tears would start to stream down his cheeks, and though his mouth was grimaced, he would try to force it into a smile through his slumber. The Ultimate Life Form was unwaivering at his post, studying every movement and expression that eminated from that bed, deducing what Sonic must have been put through and what he was reliving in his dreams. The small moans that escaped at the height of the nightmare made the black hedgehog grit his teeth in rage as he knew those sounds all too well, but was disgusted at how mangled and broken they had become by the depravity of the enemy. In that moment, the jackal sank his teeth into his breast, causing Sonic to jar awake in a raspy scream, clenching his chest and frantically ripping off the bandages. Shadow quickly jumped to his side, sliding his arm around him in an effort to control his outburst ----"Sonic, calm down! It was a nightmare!" The broken hero immediately pushed him off as he continued to hyperventilate, his eyes shifting from side to side as he scanned the room ---"W-where is he?...I have to find him...I'm not supposed to be here." He mumbled in a panicked tone while fighting through the tangled mess of bed sheets in an effort to escape. Shadow made his stand in front of him, grasping his sore shoulders gently, but firmly. "Sonic---listen to my voice---you're safe now. You're free from that bastard." He asserted his words in strong assurance coated with soft compassion as he knelt face to face with his partner. A crazed smile traced across Sonic's muzzle as he slowly lifted his head, replying in a shaky, cracking voice with saddened, fearful eyes so small that his pupils were barely visible. "Free?....hehe....I'll never be free."
