But before the experience can reach its terrifying crescendo, Pattarchus is abruptly brought back to reality by an unexpected sensation - a sharp, nagging discomfort on his hind paw. The hunter, so focused on his feast of fear, is caught off guard, his concentration shattered by this simple irritation.

Caelin, still processing the whirlwind of emotions, looks at Pattarchus with a newfound sense of awareness. There is no anger, no hatred, just a deep realisation of the fragility of life and the unexpected grace of being rescued from the depths of despair.
This prey was gone eternally.

The fox hurried away and disappeared back into the tavern's kitchen. The hellhound looked down at his paw again. Whatever had caught him there...
