***Warning: This is an alternate ending to the canon storyline for Bad Wolf. If you have yet to read the true ending (chapters 9 and 10), it is highly advised you do, so that the differences between the two can be more completely appreciated. This is the first chapter of the Misha Ending and takes place immediately following the events of Bad Wolf 8. And so here is the beginning of the end.*** When Joseph the nineteen year old Snow Leopard got to the door of his apartment, Misha the twenty seven year old Bobcat came storming back in, which forced him to take several steps back. “I can’t believe you, Joseph! She’s my daughter, for fuck’s sake! The Hell was you thinking!?” She yelled at him, kicking the door to his apartment shut with her heel before storming further into the apartment. “Not only were you thinking with your dick, but you again disrespected me by not just taking another lover, but daring to have balls big enough to sleep with my daughter! I should fucking call the cops on your punk ass!” she growled at him, causing Gena’s eyes to go wide. All the yelling woke up Athaisce and she blinked as she sat up, looking as confused as anyone who found themselves in an awkward situation right after waking. “Gena, take Athaisce into the guest room and close the door,” Joseph told her, the center of his chest very cold for some reason. The poor ten year old black Timber Wolf nodded several times, smart enough to know shit had hit the fan, and she stood on shaky legs before dragging Athaisce the ten year old Bobcat girl into the other room. When the door closed again, he turned his gaze to his girlfriend but said nothing, just waited for her to continue. She seemed to have calmed a little bit after that display and she folded her arms across her chest. “If you want this relationship to work, Joseph, swear to me here and now you will never fuck Gena or my daughter again,” she said to him, a very clear ‘or else’ screamed out at the end of her sentence despite it being unsaid. He nodded slowly, feeling numb, both not knowing why he agreed or why he shouldn’t have. “Say it,” she demanded, angry eyes glittering as she looked at him. When he told her he wouldn’t sleep with either of them again, she nodded after a moment. “You’re an idiot, so be grateful I haven’t turned you in,” she told him before turning on her heel, her dark brown hair fanning out as she turned, and went to the guest bedroom. She opened the door and went inside. Both the girls sat there with scared looks on their faces, as if she was afraid she’d hit them, but instead, she scooped up her daughter and carried her back into the living room. “You’re going to arrange for Gena to stay somewhere else until her parents get back,” Misha told him before carrying Athaisce into the bathroom. As the sound of the shower kicking on filled the room, Gena came out of the guest bedroom. “I don’t want to go,” she told him in a scared voice. Joseph sighed and shook his head, getting the cordless phone and phone book before sitting down on the couch that was still warm from the sex that had been done on it. “I’m sorry, Gena. You have to. I likely won’t see you again,” he said softly, his own defeated tone shocking him through his numbness. “Why? Why do I have to go?” she demanded, tears welling up in her eyes, hands clenched in tiny fists at her sides. “Because if you don’t, Misha will call the police on me and I’ll be tossed into jail, labeled a sex offender, and loose every shred of freedom I’ve had, and even then, you won’t be able to see me again,” he told her quietly, dialing the number for a local babysitter. He probably should have called Tiana first, but he wasn’t thinking straight. “Then then… Why don’t we run away!?” she demanded, the tears choking her voice, “The cops won’t find us if we hide! Please, I don’t want to go.” Her cries tore at him but that numbness, it soothed over the pain he felt as he told her that they couldn’t run and hide forever, that they’d eventually get caught. “Hello?” he spoke as someone finally answered his call. “Hi, my name’s Joseph. I’ve been a babysitter for a while now, but some things have come up and I can’t look after my charge anymore. Her parents are gone on a romantic get-away and won’t be back for about a week. Could you look after her until they get back?” He paused when the woman on the line spoke for a few moments, but it must have been his tone that convinced her. “Okay cool. Yeah, I’ll be over there in about twenty minutes with her. I’ll give you their contact info and stuff when I get there. Okay... Bye,” he sighed as he hung up and looked over. The look of betrayal and disbelief on Gena’s face hurt him to the core and cracked that wall of numbness he’d built up. “You... idiot!” she screamed at him before running into the guest room and slamming the door. He could hear her crying through the door, as well as throwing things around. He sat in silence, clasping his hands together and staring at them as he waited for Misha and Athaisce to come out of the bathroom. When they finally came out of the bathroom, Gena had already gone quiet in the guest room. Athaisce’s eyes were red and she stood as far away as she could from her mother while still having her hand clasped by the woman. Joseph explained that he’d be taking Gena to another place, Misha nodded and told him they were leaving as well. She all but dragged Athaisce away while the girl looked back at him with sad, apologetic eyes. After they left, Joseph placed his head in his hands and sighed before running his fingers through his hair and standing. He went to the guest bedroom door and opened it. “Come on Gena. It’s time to go,” he told her when he spotted her sitting on the edge of the bed. The room was a mess, a broken lamp, TV busted, drawers pulled out of the dresser and a hole in one of the walls near the bed. It wasn’t her worst tantrum she’d thrown, but it was the first she’d had since they’d first started having sex. She hopped off the bed when he urged her again, her eyes downcast but swollen from crying. She had a vacant look on her face, one he hadn’t seen in quite some time. She always got that look after throwing a fit, as if being angry drained the life out of her. She was so quiet all the way to the car that he had to keep looking at her to be sure she hadn’t run off. The drive was shorter than Joseph had been lead to believe, or maybe he’d sped there to get it over with. Either way, he felt tired as he pulled into the lit driveway of the home he had brought her to. It was in a nice neighborhood where all the houses were identical except for the numbers by the doors and on the mailboxes. He led the silent Gena up to the door and knocked a few times before it opened and a kind looking red Fox woman answered the door. After he explained who they were, the tall Fox let them in. Joseph left Gena in the living room of the rather nice house with four other children, some younger than her, one older, and went into the kitchen with the woman. They talked for a bit while she fixed him a cup of coffee, something he hadn’t even asked for, but graciously accepted. After that, they sat at the island in the middle of the kitchen and the woman finally asked him, “What is this really about?” Joseph found himself explaining the whole story before he even realized what he was doing, and by that time, he’d already finished not just the story but his mug of coffee too. The woman nodded a few times after he’d finished and took his mug from him, rinsing it out at the sink. “I don’t blame her for being so mad, but to threaten you like that… That’s just going a little too far. It wasn’t like you’d hurt the girl,” she said, shaking her head as she sat back down across from him. “Misha is… I don’t know anymore,” he said with a sigh, “I love her, I do, but I have a really bad feeling about all this.” The woman nodded when he said that and slid a pad of paper and a pen to him so he could write down the contact info. He was grateful she didn’t judge him, or shit a cow when he told her about what he’d done. She seemed rather… understanding, which was definitely something he hadn’t expected. After he’d finished, she got her phone and called the number he’d written down, watching him with amber eyes as she talking to a sleepy Tiana. When the call ended, he stood to leave, only to find himself pulled into the woman’s arms, his head guided to rest on her shoulder. It took all of a second before he hugged her back tightly, shaking as the numbness inside him finally shattered and he cried, probably ruining the woman’s blouse in the process but she didn’t say a single word of complaint.
