When a single entity is running all important things in the planet, the resources available to give to everyone else are almost limitless. It's not like there were other entities, goverments, or anything akin to the human structure of politics. When everything is handed to you on silver platters, you reach a point were you strive for purpose, there are very few individuals who actually enjoy the staleness of doing absolutely nothing 24/7. People that choose to work do get increased income from their job, allowing them to afford the best in technology or entertainment.
