How does one go about adquiring an artifice?
Their origins and nature are completely hidden from the general public, no one but Hyperion itself knows about their existence, so it's not like anyone can just make a request.
Assuming you were a highly prestigeous figure, in terms of contribution and association (random pop celebrities and millionaires don't count), then you could submit a formal request for the artifice program.
Even among this minority of people, very, very few qualify.
From background checks, to extensive house inspections, clients are subject to a lot of scrutiny from Hyperion, to make sure that the new life form can lead a happy and comfortable life. Like adoption, times ten.
Once the client passes all the tests and everything is in order, They are presented with a relatively large document, detailing that artifices are still experimental, a bunch of legalities, a not so subtle N.D.A, and the acknowledgement that a health professional will visit every single month to check up on the artifice, to make sure they're in optimal health and leading a good life.
