Story: Date Story

"Ready for your date?" Nishi laughed as he helped Yosh get all dressed up in a suit and tie.

"Not like this!" Yosh blushed, adusting his tie in the mirror without any pants on.

"I dunno..." purred Nishi as he looked down Yosh's thick green legs, "I'll bet they'd like it if you went out with no pants! Then you can show them your lil feather balls and they'll know what you're working with!"

Yosh's cheeks went pink and his nervous little winky started to glow with warmth at the thought, "You didn't set me up with someone too frisky, did you?" He peered over at his friends as he pulled up his underwear, "Knowing you're in charge of this date does make me a little skeptical..."

Nishi giggled and hugged behind Yosh, "I promise, I think I picked someone that's perfect for ya!"

Yosh looked away and smiled, "We'll see about that." 

Nishi let Yosh get changed in his room, and shortly after the doorbell rang. "I'm coming!" Yosh yelled, fixing up his pants and shoes, doing his best to look nice before running to the door.

"H-Hi there, sorry to keep you waiiiii-ting?" Yosh started before seeing who was at the door.

"Haha, don't worry, it was fun to watch you get ready~" Nishi smiled, in a dark green suit! "So Mr. O'Ducky, is your son home? I wanted to take him out~"

Yosh's eyes went wide, "Don't play around, Nishi!" He looked around outside, "Is there really no date? If they stood me up just say so..." Yosh frowned, already feeling let down.

Nishi lifted up his chin and smiled, "No, I mean it, Yosh! I'm your date tonight." Nishi walked in and rubbed Yosh's back. "I mean, I know we're just friends, but you know how close we are!" He held Yosh's shoulders and nuzzled his cheek, "Give me a chance to show you how happy I can make you."

Yosh looked up into his friend's eyes. He knew the two were playful a lot, and flirty, and affectionate - they'd seen everything from each other, they've kissed, they... gee, they really did sound like a couple the more Yosh thought about it!

"I... really?" Yosh tilted his head, "Do you like me, Nishi?"

The orange dino snugged his arm around his buddy, "Of course I do!"

Yosh shook his head, "I mean, like... do you have a crush on me?"

Nishi wiggled his eyebrows, "Heh heh, I've always thought you were cuuuuute~" Nishi pulled Yosh in close by the collar. "So let's see! We've only been close friends... but maybe there's something more there~"

Yosh felt all flustered, but he nodded as Nishi took his hand and the two headed out to a romantic dinner together!

Yosh felt a little nervous sitting at the table with Nishi, he thought maybe everyone would know the two were on a date together! It was pretty much like telling the world that he liked guys.

"You're nervous, hehehe." Nishi smiled at his friend, "You're not nervous because of me, are you?"

Yosh shook his head, "N-No, not really..." He frowned, "I just... what if people think we're on a date?"

"We are on a date." Nishi chuckled and folded his arms, "But there's no way people will know that - they'll see two guys in suits at dinner! Maybe they'll think we're just business men. Or maybe brothers! And even if they think we're dating, it's just a guess. Not like you'll see any of these people again, right?"

Yosh felt a little more calm, knowing it wasn't all totally obvious. His friend was right! They wouldn't really know everything like that... Yosh even saw three girls at a table together, and didn't think any of them were dating - they just looked like friends!

"But eventually..." Nishi winked, "We might hold hands or kiss during dinner... so folks might know later down the line~ Enjoy this while it's easy!"

Yosh blushed and looked down at his lap, "Well, that'd be okay..."

"It would?" Nishi smiled, surprised.

"Well yeah." Yosh looked away shyly, "If we were in love, I would want to make sure we had a nice time at dinner or out in public... I would have to hold your hand and kiss you..." He blushed a bit, "And it'd be alright."

Nishi's tail wagged behind his seat. He was really touched his friend could be so mature about this!

The two left the restaurant and took a little walk together in a nearby park. Nishi knew Yosh loved ponds and birdies and walking outdoors. The dino ducky wrapped his arm around his friend and laid his head on Nishi's shoulder. He was having a great time being close and comfortable with him.

"Here we go~" Nishi walked Yosh onto the grass and laid out a blanket just for this. The two sat down and watched over the pond, snuggling close and chatting away about all kinds of things - an hour passed and the two laid down on their backs, cuddling together as they looked up into the stars.

"I could do this all night." Yosh smiled, "It's pretty easy talking with someone you're already good friends with." Yosh gleamed proudly.

"You always told me it's best to be friends with someone before you date them," Nishi chuckled, "I guess you were right!"

"I really like you as my friend!" Yosh clung close, "But, you've got me thinking of us as partners too..." The duck shivered. 

Nishi nodded and nuzzled his friend's beak, "Hehe, I think either would be fine." He looked into Yosh's eyes, "Clearly you'd be fun to date and be with." He held Yosh's hand in his, "But you'll always be a fun buddy too!" He tickled his friend's belly through his suit, "Even if you end up with someone else, you'll still need a best friend! I mean, if I was your partner, all you'd have is me. But, if you date someone else, you'll have a wife, and a best friend! And probably a family too."

Yosh thought on that more, "Well, I know you might not want a family, and that I would... but still! I would want to be with a partner for them - not for children." Yosh nodded and clung to his friend, "So that wouldn't stop us."

Nishi pet behind Yosh's head and kissed his cheek, "Hehe, really? All that practice diapering up and doing baby stuff for nothing?" Nishi teased.

"Shhh!" Yosh blushed, "I mean... you never know!"

The two giggled and joked around before Yosh and Nishi got up and headed home for the night. The orange yoshi walked his pal to the door, "I'll see ya tomorrow! I don't put out on the first date~"

Yosh laughed, "Uh, we've gone pretty far even without dating..." he started lowering his voice as he realized what he was saying out loud.

Nishi kissed Yosh's cheek as he skipped off happily into the night, "Hehe, you'll have to tell me all about the fun date you had tomorrow! I wanna hear allll the details~!"

Yosh blushed and closed the door behind him. "Kazootles!"
