This comission was an idea I had with a friend on a Xenoverse 2 session.
One day, after the events of Dragon Ball Battle of Gods, Beerus, after his encounter with the Super Saiyan God form, Out of curiosity and perhaps a bit or boredom, decided to see if there were other people that were as strong if not stronger than it was. During one of these little expeditions he visited the Nest of Time and accompanied a time patroller to check what foe’s Goku had fought in the past. During this mission he encountered Imperfect Cell and took a liking to him.
Beerus knew Freezer and Buu already, but Imperfect Cell was someone new. Up til now the God of Destruction had never actually seen this kind of lifeform before. As he thought about it, he recalled something similar, but different than it, ultimately making it a different life form regardless. Interested, he analyzed imperfect Cell through his different evolutions and fights and began to develop a liking to him. Beerus also witness Cell's doom, but because he couldn’t alter the past, Beerus decided, instead of the forbidden activity to travel time, he would visit alternate realities and other universes. Or at the very least planned to, since those activities seemed entertaining.
Beerus tried to look for someone like the Imperfect Cell he faced in the mission from before and fortunately for him his first encounter was with Imperfect Cell from another timeline/reality.
This Imperfect Cell, being more chaotic than outright evil was wandering in the universe, challenging any fighters stronger than him. So, upon meeting Beerus, Cell accepted the challenge to go with him to Beerus' realm. The wage for Cell was that if he lost, he was to become Beerus' retainer. Against Beerus, Cell was beaten within only a few moments, so upholding the deal, Cell became Beerus' servant, taking care of his needs as well as being a companion with whom to interact with when he wanted someone other than Whis. After a while, Imperfect Cell found he rather liked his position and decided to stay by Beerus' side, albeit with more or less loyalty.
It wasn’t long before Cell became a bit than just the God of Destructions "callboy", and Beerus soon began to see Imperfect Cell as more of a playmate as well as a teammate for missions.
During one of the time patroller missions, Beerus proposed that Buu join the team and go visiting place with other powerful people. The team went to the Time Nest to attempt some parallel quests, but also to travel to other alternate realities. In one of these missions they visit Hell and met Super Janemba... who was, interestingly enough, teaming up with Janenpa.
Despite being the same individual normally, they now were more akin to siblings, with Janenpa having his own individual conscience. The fact that there were now two Janemba came from a reality where an anomaly occurred, and two Janemba from two different timelines met. The two bonded and decided to work together in devastating their own universe prior to the encounter with Imperfect Cell, Beerus and Buu.
A fight between the group occurred and Super Janemba began to find a mutual appreciation to Beerus and his team. Seeing the potential playmate-material with Super Janemba, Beerus proposed to have some different kind of fun...by exchanging their teammate. Janemba found the idea interesting and decided to take Buu while Beerus and Cell worked together to gang up on Janempa.
