I had noticed that it has been a long time since Luna has been seen in any peril. So I decided to remedy that situation.
This could or could not be be considered related to an earlier commission I got. Though it was not my thinking behind this image, the two do seem to fit together.
I did write a little mini story to go along with it.

Nefarious Maximus, a name that held almost as much infamy as Mondo Zax. After escaping the destruction of Nexus, Luna thought she had seen the last of that maniac. But it seems she would not be so fortunate. Fate had an annoying habit of bringing people together, even across the universe. And so the blue chua found herself here, a seemingly abandoned laboratory floating through the remote reaches of space.
Rumor had it that something particularly valuable could be found on board, and Luna planned to cashed in. She wasn't afraid of some creepy old lab. With battle suit donned and gun in hand, the intrepid chua delved into the dark labyrinth of corridors that made up the desolate station. After nearly an hour of fruitless searching, Luna began to question if this was really worth her time. Rummaging through the empty lab was turning out to be quite a bore, and there were plenty of other ways to make a quick buck. But just as the frustrated chua was about to turn back, something of interest finally caught her eye. An extra large doorway stood before Luna, its double doors jammed open by rather sizable vines growing around them. If there was anything of value in this place, it was in there.
Whereas others would have likely hesitated, Luna showed no fear in entering the large chamber. Looking around, she could see racks upon racks of beakers, test tubes, and other standard science equipment. But there were also many pots and planting beds scattered about. Was this supposed to be a lab or a garden? Whatever the case, it didn't really matter as long as there was something valuable in here. Fortunately it didn't take long for her to spot something interesting on the other end of the room. A single light emitted by an active data pad stood out among its dim surroundings. Approaching the pad, Luna could see that the only thing on the screen was a large "play" arrow.
For the first time that excursion, Luna hesitated. She suddenly felt like someone was watching her, making the fur on the back of her neck stand on end. Still, she had come too far to go back empty handed. It may not have been what she was hoping for, but information could still have value, provided it was anything good. Taking a deep breath and clutching her gun tightly, she reached out a paw, tapping the "play" button at center of the screen. Suddenly the lab sprang to life, the lights returning to their full brightness to illuminate the room around her. Large monitors positioned along the walls lit up, revealing a red furred face Luna had hoped she would never have to see again.
"Greetings test subject." Nefarious welcomed his unwitting guest "You get great honor of testing my latest creation. Test is simple. You escape, you go free. But fail..." a devious grin stretched across the red chua's face.
Luna fired her gun at each of the monitors, knowing it wouldn't hurt him, but still helping to vent her frustration. Not only was there no treasure, now she had deal with this nut job. But nut job or not, Nefarious was no joke. Whatever this experiment was, Luna knew it wouldn't be good. The imperiled chua made a beeline for the exit, but as she passed by the doorway, something sliced through the sleeve of her suit, leaving a shallow cut in her arm. Looking back, Luna saw that the vines which were originally holding the doors open were now actively heading towards her, their tips wickedly sharp like honed blades. Crap! Luna fired backwards at the encroaching flora, managing to blast away a few tendrils, but far more were still coming. She would never be able to defeat them all; her only choice was to flee.
Luna ran through the corridors, retracing the path she had used to get here. Vine were growing around every corner, from every nook and cranny, slowly turning the lifeless metal structure into an artificial jungle. Luna blasted her way forward, not stopping for anything, even as more of her suit was torn away and more stinging gashes covered her body. She turned the final corner, her salvation in sight, but like some kind of cheesy action movie, the door at the end began to shut, slowly sealing off her means of escape. With no time to lose, Luna rushed down the final hallway. Unfortunately her haste resulted in carelessness. A single vine reached out, coiling around her ankle and sending her crashing down to the floor. She quickly turned to blast the offending tendril, but was swiftly accosted by dozens more, all aiming to slash or ensnare her. She struggled against their grasp, blasting as many as she could before her gun was snatched away by more vines emerging from a nearby vent.
Trapped in the clutches of a murderous mutant plant, her only exit slowly sealing before her, all the while a mad scientist watches from the safety of his room. What will become of our hapless adventurer?
