Mini story by me:
The Misty Woods was unlike anything Ori had ever seen. Despite the dire circumstances of his visit, the intrepid spirit couldn't help but be filled with a childlike sense of awe and wonder. The exotic flora was a far cry from the plants and trees he was used to. Glowing mushrooms, strange mosses, and creeping vines; everything was so fascinating, he wanted to see it all. Unfortunately, Ori's curiosity would prove to be his undoing. So enamored was he by his wondrous surroundings, that the enthralled spirit failed to notice that he had wandered aimlessly deep into the woods.
Ori found himself in a grove of the most unusual looking plants yet. There were some with leaves stretched out like yawning maws, others with long stems covered in tiny dew tipped hairs. Lastly were large hanging pods, akin to oversized pitchers. Ori couldn't suppress his curiosity. The agile spirit leapt onto the rim of the nearest plant, peering down to get a look at what lied within. All he saw was a pool of orange colored liquid. Normally this would have been enough to sate the spirit's curiosity, instincts tell him that going any further would be too risky. But just as he was about to leave, a sickly-sweet scent wafted across his nostrils. The unsuspecting spirit suddenly felt more relaxed and was struck with an urge to taste the mysterious orange liquid. Those instincts that moments ago had warned him of danger seemed to simply wash away. Ori started to lean down into the pitcher, eager to get a taste of that sweet smelling nectar. Slowly he dipped lower and lower, his clinging paws the only think keeping him from falling in completely. He stuck out his tongue, the tantalizing liquid just out of reach. Just... a little... closer...
Suddenly Ori slipped over the point of no return, his paws losing their grip and sending the hapless spirit headlong into the pool below. Adrenaline shot through his body, overriding the addling effects of the plant's aroma. Ori was plunged back into reality, alarms blaring in his mind that until now had seemed distant and muted. With his head completely submerged in liquid, he was quickly overcome with the sensation of drowning. He struggled to right himself, desperate to bring his head back above the surface. But the confined interior of the plant left him little room to wiggle and worse yet had pinned his paws at awkward angles against his body. Thrown into full blown panic, the helpless spirit's struggles grew ever more frantic. To the best of his abilities, he pressed his trapped paws against the interior of the pod, trying to force a wider opening for him to maneuver through, but the elastic membrane clung tightly to his body.
Matters only grew worse when he began to feel a subtle burning around his head. Ori's eyes grew wide with horror as the realization struck him. This plant wasn't just drowning him, it was digesting him! A new wave of panic washed over the poor spirit causing him to cry out in distress. However, the pitiful plea emerged as nothing more than a muffled cluster of bubbles, only serving to waste what little air he had left. Robbed of precious oxygen, his lungs started to burn, adding yet another layer of torment to his already perilous predicament. His struggles reached a fever pitch. Anyone outside could see his thrashing hooves and tail dangling out the top of the plant's mouth, while faint impressions pushed out against the plant's lower walls. As time dragged on, the kicking of his hooves slowly died down and the impression grew weaker and less frequent, until finally, they stopped all together.
It was over, Ori had succumbed to his natural prison. He was no longer the savior of Nibel, just another meal for a mindless plant. Over the next few days, his hooves slowly sank into the pod as his lifeless body was broken down into nutrients for the hungry flora. Everything was absorbed, fat, flesh, and even bone, leaving nothing behind to prove the unfortunate spirit had ever existed.
