It was the day before Father's Day, and Sarah wanted to make it all the more special for her dad, she asked Candice what she could do but her step-mother only replied, "I'll get him something from all of us." Not satisfied with the answer the pup went up to her room and turned on her Surface and typed into Google 'how to make daddy's special day special' clicking on the first result. She reads over the article with wide eyed wonder her tail wagging with so much excitement that her butt wiggles in her chair.
The next morning Nanten slowly woke to a smell in the air he rolls over with a pained grunt and his eyes barely open to see that Candice is still asleep, "What the hell..", he grumbles as he gets out of bed a few of his joints popping as he stands. The wolf rubs his face as he walks into the living room then to the archway leading into the kitchen his eyes finally popping open as the sound of something hitting the floor and the full power of the smell hit his nostrils. The room was slowly filling with black smoke as the fire alarm began to blare loudly and the counter was covered in flour, syrup, mangled strawberries, sugar, and poorly mixed dough. Right in the middle of it all was Sarah equally dirty, wearing only an apron from her bakery play set and sandals, bent over picking up the rolling pin. As the older male groans she turns her head with a smile, still bent over, and says, "Daddy... You ruined the surprise!". She quickly stands up and puts on some oven mitts then opens the oven and takes out a pan that plumes more black smoke from the oven. Walking to her dad he looks down with a half smile as he sees what was supposed to be a cake with burnt black frosting with melted plastic letters reading: 'Happy Fathers Day'. The old wolf chuckles a bit then leans down, trying to ignore the smell, kisses his daughter on the forehead as the other members of the family come into the kitchen with looks of shock on their faces. "Thank you, sweety.", he says as his child looks up at him with a smile full of pride, "Lets get the kitchen, and you, cleaned up now."
With the help of her brothers, mom, and dad the kitchen, and Sarah, were cleaned up in no time. Candice even managed to salvage a good portion of the cake but made sure to warn everyone of the egg shells she might have missed. She also whipped up a quick breakfast to go with Sarah's idea of a pancake to make a more complete meal. While unorthodox method of making it the pancake-cake tasted fine, even with the occasional blob of unmixed flour or broken egg shell.
