The streak of white hairs dancing around those blue eyes in the gentle gust of wind told him just who this little raccoon was, though their arrival was already expected. It was his neighbor’s young daughter, who he’d been asked to watch while her mother, a nurse, was quite literally stuck at her hospital due to an approaching winter storm. They lived just next door, so her mother had told her to put on a warm coat and walk over after calling Etis to see if he could watch her for the night. The short walk was trivial, even as the first hard snow of the year shut down the roads.\n\n“Come on in out of the cold, Suzy.
