Chapter 39
Consuelo Lobo-Rojo
As Mrs. Impisi led Raul back to her office, they, once again, passed Michael’s office. This time,
he stopped and asked if he could speak with Michael. Mrs. Impisi knocked on Michael’s door
and, after receiving an invitation to enter, she opened the door and, accompanied by Raul,
entered. Michael stood up and walked toward them, smiling.
“Hello Raul. I’m glad to see you again.” Michael held out his hand as he approached Raul.
Raul looked at Michael, took his hand, shook it, and, as Michael was guiding him to a chair, said,
“Do I know you?”
“In a way, you do. We met last Friday at Bruno’s.”
Mrs. Impisi interrupted and said, “Michael, do you mind escorting him to the front door when
you are through talking? I’ve got some paperwork I need to finish.”
“No problem, Mrs. Impisi. I’m sure he wants a lot of questions answered.”
“Thank you, Michael.” She left Michael’s office and returned to her own.
Raul said, “I seem to recall you saying we knew each other in Basic Training but, I do not
remember seeing a human in my Basic Training platoon. So, how do you know me?”
