Mr. Fuchs Calls Amanda
At about 1030 (1), they arrived back at the hotel. Michael gently moved his arm, which was now
very asleep, from around Amanda’s shoulders. Then, he gently shook her to wake her up. Softly,
he said, “Amanda, wake up.”
She moaned like a child being awakened for school. Slowly, her eyes opened and looked into his.
“I was having the most wonderful dream. Why did you wake me up?”
“Because we’re here. Come on, let’s get upstairs and freshen up then, we can go to dinner.”
She leaned against him and said, “What’s for dinner?”
“Think about what you’re in the mood for and we’ll go to that kind of restaurant.”
She smiled sleepily and said, “Okay.”
Michael walked around the car, opened Amanda’s door, and offered her his arm. “Thank you,”
she said. “You’re such a gentleman.”
“It’s the way I was brought up.”
“Perhaps we’ll raise our kits like that.” She smiled mischievously.
