The plates were overflowing with homemade food, the people were dressed casually, and everyone was between the ages of nineteen and twenty-seven. Carla, the owner of the apartment, was celebrating her birthday and had invited all her friends and a couple of co-workers. Her boyfriend Tomas, a huge black furred wolf who looked like something out of a college jock magazine, had helped her organize the feast.\n\n\"Marcos, I'm so glad you could make it,\" the birthday girl expressed, smiling at one of her guests.\n\nMarcos was a tiger of medium height, obese, with white fur and orange hair, glasses, and twenty-seven years old. He was a childhood friend of Carla's, they had grown up together, and although their lives had taken very different directions, they were still relatively close.\n\n\"Thank you for inviting me, Carla. I was lucky to get all my work done in time, for a second there I thought I wouldn't be able to come,\" the feline thanked.\n\n\"What are you working on?\" asked Tomas, before taking a long drink from his glass.\n\nThe tiger swallowed a piece of meat he was chewing and wiped his lips, cleared his throat and replied, \"I'm a computer technician, I work for a cooperative on the other side of town. And you?\"\n\n\"Oh! No, I don't work, I'm in graphic design school, I just turned nineteen and luckily my parents are being quite supportive,\" the canine explained.\n\n\"Ah! Very good choice, they're always looking for designers... you just have to be careful with certain companies that are on the lookout for young employees to exploit,\" the feline replied.\n\n\"I told Tomas to be careful, most of the designers I know are gay, and I wouldn't want my beloved boyfriend to go around chasing other men,\" the lioness teased, as she refilled her glass again.\n\n\"Very funny, my dear! Just because the only designers you know are my husband and I, doesn't make the vast majority of them gay!\" replied a very feminine voiced stag who was sitting at the other end of the table, and was wearing a wedding ring that matched the one on a cougar sitting next to him.\n\n\"I'm sorry, Jordan, but I'm just going by the reality around me,\" laughed the birthday girl.\n\nMark blushed at the conversation and laughter that went around the table, he glanced randomly among the guests and his eyes were met with those of the young black furred wolf, who returned his gaze as the male flashed a mischievous grin.\n\nThe evening passed peacefully, after dinner they ate cake, then played some group games and at about one in the morning everyone started to leave. But when the chubby tiger went to grab his jacket, the lioness stopped him and invited him to stay for the night. Carla knew that her friend lived quite far away and did not mind offering him a place to crash.\n\nThe feline prepared a big bowl of popcorn, took out a huge blanket from one of her closets, chose a movie and the three of them settled on the sofa in front of the TV.\n\nHalfway through the movie, a snore caught the tiger's attention, his friend, who was at the other end of the couch, had fallen completely asleep as was her habit.
