The firm hands of the guard keeping them in place as a prayer is read aloud from sacred script by the priest's young apprentice. A prayer to draw the eyes and appetites of the nameless gods of war to the sacrificial boy whose blood shall soon wet the altar with his life, fear and pain.\n\nA ritual gag, made from carefully woven cloth and sanctified in holy oils keep the offering from offending the gods or his captors with his foreign tongue or from shaming himself by begging for mercy. And ropes blessed by the temple priests keep him from resisting the death that is soon to come. For the gods must be fed, and war is a merciless business. \n\nBut every sacrifice is slightly different and not all things go exactly to plan. Sometimes a sacrifice wiggles harder then others slipping their bonds, or another may bite through the sacred cloth gag.
