Religious officials have found over the years that it is best if the elixir is given to the boys by a priest that they know and trust. Thus the boys rarely need much in the way of coaxing to gulp down the bitter liquid.\n\nThough it is discouraged it is also quite common for Priests (and sometimes any accompanying guards) to take advantage of the temple boys after the elixir begins to take effect. While the boys are under the effects of the elixir they are less resistant and easily influenced.
